I’m not watching the show after the first season because I actually like Halo. I won’t give them the benefit of any doubt because they already ruined it.
You ever wonder if marketing analytics on comments/reviews understand sarcasm? Wonder if sarcasm is the real reason for all these garbage tv shows / movies. We make sarcastic comments/reviews, they take it as literal as possible and go make it.
Based on what I watched so far, I don't think they will be mentioning or having a cameo for 6 or the Noble team... I don't think they exist in this universe of TV Halo
I could nearly cry. This might be the only time Halo has a tv presence in my lifetime, and this is how it's treated. Halo could have become the greatest fictional adaption series in history.
damn man, yeah, look up, halo 4 soldiers are not machines, proof we dont need to see his face for an emotional scene, its so sad they take his helmet off in the first episode again first 10 min
It's so weird...Master Chief's face IS the helmet in my opinion. Whenever I see pictures from the Halo TV show, it's so jarring only ever seeing the actor's face and never the helmet.
the reason why the actor is pushing for removing the helmet is because of money, if the helmet was permanent there would be no need for him to be on camera, he would be just a voice actor. and voice actors are paid far less screen actors. So its all about the money.
@@ShadrackMeduson I never saw Vin Diesel's face when he voiced Groot from the Marvel films. Buddy got paid like 20 mill per movie just to say "I am Groot" over and over.
@@cortezsmith1244well a difference I think that caused this is the Rock is so huge, all you need is his name on marketing that he’s voicing this cg character. Meanwhile, Master Chief actor, I don’t know how popular he is, but is at the very least no where near the Rock. It’s annoying, but this is usually what actors do to get their face out there and also earn more. Because their face is their brand. Which is what sucks as they could still do this, but build up to it, like Mando did.
I watched the first episode of the whole series with my dad last night. He’s been playing Halo since CE released. Chief took off his helmet, and my dad turned the tv off, stormed out of the room, and slammed his door to his room
That's so funny because I just got towards the end of ep 1. Did the same thing. I mean, they already botched every single character they could. But that was the last straw.
@faytleingod1851 In the Halo games chief never took his helmet off because we were constantly in a combat mission. Do you really think that Chief would never have taken his helmet off during R&R or downtime?
5:15 WOW who woulda guessed one of the few people who tried to get into the source material stood out from everyone else who intentionally avoided it. Imagine my complete and utter bewilderment.
Oni did not forget and the fact you think that and do not know what is going on tells me you do not have a clue about the Halo lore or story, ONI are well aware of what is happening and what the Covenant are doing and ONI are well aware that they are loosing the war and cant win and so they are trying to hold out for as long as they can till they find a way to fight back, and so to prevent panic they are pushing the idea that they are winning or a the very least holding ground, and so any helmet cam footage would instantly be classified and or denied
There was a total communications blackout- not just radio comms, but helmcam footage was useless too. Even friend-or-for tags were scrambled, which was why the comms team fired at Chief
Thank you i told my friend the same thing, and he said well his dad made it. I literally looked at him and said bruh Spartans don't even exist to the public its classified yet he has a whole toy form halo Infinite.

@@highlordlaughterofcanada8685 If Sylvester Stallone played Master Chief I wouldn't have been mad at him removing the helmet. The problem is removing the helmet to have some big nosed nobody no name actor who doesn't have ANYTHING iconic or memorable about his performance be revealed as a Legendary character like Chief 😂
@@PandemoniumPirateRadio Chief rarely removed his helmet whereas this guy does it all the time, doesn't matter if it's a known actor or not, you just don't do it this frequently.
The kwan scene was so confusing it was like she was accidentally beating the crap out of the guys chasing her. I was legit confused and almost thought it was a new character. Really didn’t click or make sense.
Master Cheeks is gonna get a text from the Arbiter “Human, we have your spawn”. And there’s gonna be a picture of the Arbiter holding a baby with a helmet on.
Yeah the whole 'Cobalt is bullying Silver team' strikes me as strange. All Spartan 2's treat each other with some level of respect, some are closer than others, but they all vowed to remain close as they viewed each other as all they have in the end. They went through the grueling training together, they suffered and lost together, they are family. And while some members of the 2 family don't quite take certain relationships very well, to straight up antagonize them for removing emotion dampeners is wholly unlike a 2.
I found that scene more of like brothers and sisters just making fun of their siblings. Plus it could have just been a rivalry between the two teams but as you see they still get along since chief even told the leader of cobalt team to be careful out there
@BlackTemplers this is exactly it. Media literacy is dead. You can see the care in the way John and the leader of cobalt team interacted once the shit talking was over.
@@Zeta4SPARTAN-IV’s are WAY different from II’s. IV’s are military adults who transitioned into the SPARTAN program, whereas II’s are child abductees who were indoctrinated into a brutal and merciless program designed to make tight-knit and extremely lethal special operatives. They should never be made to be similar in terms of behavior. In fact, the only SPARTAN-II that acted sociable was Kurt, and he was known by the other SPARTAN-II’s to be unique
Im surprised you didn't mention how the marines at Sword Base fed themselves to the Covenant 1 squad at a time with no flashlights, nightvision or a radio check between sending the second squad in. Also the covenant disnt let off a single pinpoint of lihht from their weapons when taking out rhe first squad.
@@leesub312 I would love to imagine it like that, but they are all issued helmets with flashlights on em, or MAs with integrated lights. Idk the lack of light usage is tilting, all that tech and they choose to stay in the dark lol.
I was at the premiere with the Q&A with the new Showrunner, Kiki and Pablo and I think I have some small insight. The showrunner, David Weiner, said at the premiere that he wanted to make the season more like his inspirations, Saving Private Ryan, Fury and Band of Brothers but the biggest challenge was staying true to the original vision while adding his own. He basically said he's course correcting but there's only so much he can do without changing what came before without directly stating that. Also David Weiner said he played Halo 1-3 ODST when they came out, but went back and replayed them as well as playing Reach the first time to do it justice. That's at least far more than the previous writers could say, and it shows so far with adding Visegrad relay and Sword Base instead of "Reach City" now, which I don't think ever appears in the subtitles, just FleetCom.
And therein lies the problem, he wants to make his own show based on those things (saving private ryan, fury and band of brothers) and not a halo show. he basically hijacked a franchise to tell his own story no one asked for. And honestly, if you take away the halo from this show, its not even as good as what he draws inspiration from.
@@MistahFox I mean that doesn’t mean anything because the issues with the first season are still present here. It still all just shitty fan fiction set in halo, because they are still focusing on half assed melodrama no one cares for.
Making the show about Spartans was their first issue. Give me a squad of ODST’s lost somewhere and slowly introduce what a Spartan is. Their mystery when they first appear in the lore is very interesting and could make a great plot imo.
100% this. Since the TV show isn't a videogame there's no reason to focus on Spartan protagonists. Make S2s the mythological superheroes they are by introducing them first as rumours, then have them miraculously save the day like a force of nature. They shouldn't need to be humanized or made more complex until much later until you've actually given context to why they're seen as unkillable machines first
They totally should have just rebooted it all and started with the Pillar or Autumn above Alpha Halo. The Last of Us show was amazing and it was just like the game. It feels so smart and obvious to bank off of the success of these massive games and the already intricate stories they hold. Imagine how cooooool it would be to see the first steps Chief takes on the ring in Combat Evolved in live action. I feel like they could recapture the magic in an entirely new way. We will see.
@liamruff7738 I know, and I hate it. Fingers crossed, she makes a sacrifice play to save someone we like now that she's apparently Jason Bourne out of nowhere.
Kinda weird hearing about that Spartan banter, as you said they are Spartan IIs so at least in the normal lore theyve known each other since they were 6 and have pretty mich grown together. In games Theyre shown to have a brotherhood like bond or just caring about each other like a family, but them being “antagonistic” is definitely something weird to see
Very strange, every single canon comic and novel mentioned them being brothers and sisters in arms. Chief himself was noted to mourn every single Spartan loss since the program started, as they were all his "brothers and sisters".
This. And on top of all that Spartan II's are alot more reserved than how they are portrayed in the tv series. They are the "strong silent type" of the generations of Spartans. Spartan 4's are the chatty smartass ones.
Why is this weird? So you've never had banter with friends or your brother? Them being competitive and taking digs doesn't at all mean they don't respect them all the same as brothers as you mentioned. Idk man people are overly critical of everything in this show I find.
@@dartskihutch4033I’m not trying to be condescending when I say this, but you probably don’t understand how Spartans, specifically Spartan you 2’s usually behave with a take like this. They don’t act like this at all and never have, which is why it’s weird. They’re very reserved and they don’t wear their emotions on their sleeve like they do in the show. They’re also not disrespectful to each other because they see each other as family, like above comments have mentioned
The more you talk about this show the more of a fever dream it sounds. I think I'm more entertained by the content the show causes to be made than the show itself lmao
Like with Disney Star Wars I just pretend this show doesn’t exist and try to remember what made the franchise great in the first place by replaying the old games and reading the books.
No hate to the Kwan actress, but they could have a more focused storyline if they cut that whole storyline out. The cuts to her story was jarring in season 1, and even more so in season 2. I hate that they want the Game of Thrones multiple POV storylines instead of focusing on more important characters. I also think the only consistent character writing seems to be Ackerson. I’d rather have more scenes with him than Kwan. I’m honestly dreading with what they’ll do to the Arbiter (Thel Vadam) if that is his character. He’s the best character of the franchise in my opinion. They’re either going to drastically change him or kill him off early.
I think the best way to describe the Spartan physics is like they are in zero gravity. They don't seem powerful and hefty, they seem light. If you look at the halo wars 2 cutscenes, the spartans actually look like they have weight, but Atriox still beats the shit out of them. I wish i could have done all the planning for this show istg.
sorry for any spoilers, but episode one when kai125 said that she will lose chief in fog. don’t Spartans have thermal or night vision, so that kind of caught me off guard
@@joshuafaison8087 Yeah they said this season will be darker, yet they have spartans goofing around and not paying attention during the missions. 🤦♂️ whoever wrote the script must really hate halo lol
How brave of you, and then you watch a 20 minute review about a show you don't watch. I'm sure you called the star wars prequels absolute garbage as well because that's the cool thing to do, shit on things.
Hi You mentioned that Reach City felt very much like Blade Runner 2049. The reason is that they shot the sereies and the movie in the exact location. They didn't even try to make it look diferrent.
Here is one flaw to the entire chief part of episode 1 and 2. We all know that the marines were wearing the helmets that RECORD their surroundings (Jenkins) and we can safely assume that chiefs armor would have the same due to Cortana using the systems
Btw eveeyone, chief will be without his armor in the arc for the fall of reach, confirmed by the reviewer "Jessie" I believe and give a speech to marines saying that he's the chief even without the armor... yikes. On the video titled "Halo Season 2 Still Hates Halo (Yet It's Good)"
Honestly the "Halo, Forward Unto Dawn" movie is my favorite halo film adaptation. It doesn't have much master chief and we don't see the covenent till the end but it was pretty awesome.
Forward unto dawn serie/movie is like what every want, the cadetts are good the guy who played chief was top tier and the hunter scene is for me the best on this
Spartans are ego. Everything is competitive to them. That's how they were trained. Like straight up. Black team and red team would get into fights all of the time.
"I don't see there ever being a colony of weird and eccentric people" No one tell him about cults, the really weird ones that own their own towns somehow
FYI for anyone wondering, Pablo Schreiber has already confirmed the relationship between Makee and Chief is not romantic in S2. So hopefully, no cheeks lmao
I think that cave thing is foreshadowing the flood honestly. “It’s very old, the monster. Older than the light; older than this rock. Older than your god. It knows us, inside and out. Smells our fear. Sees our secrets. It’s been here all that time, waiting to meet you. In the dark. There’s nothing you can give it. The only thing the monster wants is for you to know that there’s nothing you can ever love that it can’t take away." Older than your god- the Precursors created life in the Halo universe, so any understanding of God that Halo universe humans have is actually wrong. There's nothing you can give it. "I offer no forgiveness... a father's sins, passed to his son" It won't stop. It doesnt care. there’s nothing you can ever love that it can’t take away. "All that is created will suffer. All will be born in suffering, endless grayness shall be their lot." To me, this is clearly dropping hints at what is to come in future episodes, and shows love to do this. If this is the case, its a major shift from the game timeline as to my knowledge, no humans were aware of their existence until after Halo CE. Well, Halo Wars technically, but they couldn't communicate back to anyone.
I just watched the 2 episodes and I was just waiting to hear the word “consume” or something like that. That would’ve been a huge flood giveaway but I do agree, I think the scene is a flood hint.
Have you noticed the hard cuts throughout the show, it randomly goes to black and a scene start with another plot line. Probably to have adbreaks later if its on cable
Im about as excited for the rest of this season as a Sangheili is to watch his brother fall in battle. I kinda hate to say this, but I'm not confident that this season will be a vast improvement from the first. Maybe keep Cheif's helmet on! That would be a start!
I mean look at what she did with 343/h5 and infinite (ill give h4 a pass because the campaign felt finished and still fun) kiki only cares about her vision and not the fans vision and or a healthy mix of both
Kiki along with Bonnie Ross almost destroyed Halo completely. They both should have been fired years ago, and Kiki is still attached to this dumpster fire of a show.
5:04 - I love Joseph Morgan from "The Originals" where he did a great job so, not gonna lie, him playing Ackerson was one of the few things I was actually quite happy to see when it was announced. I also know that Joseph Morgan is very much a nerdy guy himself who has a genuine love for science fiction and fantasy, so that's always welcome.
And this is why everyone on the writing and acting teams should be contractually obligated to read the books and play the games. Just as a basic level of professionalism.
I already tossed it into the "unwatched and forgotten" bin along with live action westernized Ghost in the Shell. tired of directors who don't know or care what an IP is about getting access to them.
That's it, don't watch it, and then say it's shit like all the bandwagoners. Can't wait for the comment on the finale review saying "yep as I suspected, it was shit, that's why I never watched it and is how I know it was shit."
@@dartskihutch4033And when they do watch it and still say it’s bad cause it’s writing is bad, it’s acting is ok-ish at best, it just ignores up the source material it’s working with, and the cgi is on par with fan animations on RU-vid?
@@grimalkin6676 the writing for vannek is awesome, Kai's good, sorren meh, chief good and also terrible sometimes, keys good, Halsey great, Kwan puke, etc etc. what do you mean the writing is just objectively bad? Season one wasn't great I admit that but the parts that were good was worth getting to and season two already out the gate feels much better. The animations were shit?? The glassing beam taking out the Pelican was sick along with the glassing itself and the fight choreography and elites are also awesome. Things like the AI brothel was awkward and terrible and chief's mental health focus is off putting for chief. That damn trap on the shipwreck was one of the most telegraphed betrayals I've seen in a show maybe ever. As soon as he went into the ship and left the two members of his crew behind on his only way back out, who HAVE ALREADY BEEN ESTABLISED AS DISCONTENTED WITH HIS LEADERSHIP I audibly said "oh come on man". You're telling me this ultra capable Spartan II turned savvy pirate couldn't see that trap coming from a million miles away? Maybe they were going for the thing that he gets severely tunnel vision-ed when it comes to pursuing Halsey but it did not come across that way at all.
It would have been a nice detail if the “monsters” they were referring too were the flood. Especially for non halo fans who may think it’s the covenant they are talking about. I hope they introduce the flood in a similar fashion as CE where they are found on accident without any clear warning except for vague foreshadowing
After seeing that clone just collapsed i had to pause the video while i rolled on the ground laughing. Like what?! I sent a clip of it to my friend who isnt a halo fan and had him guess what its from. He couldnt believe it was halo lol
My guess is they couldn't get the rights to "war games" The in-universe title of the VR-combat training on unsc infinity. It's also what we were supposedly playing when we played h4 multiplayer.
Ah yes i remember that cutscene where a old shaman woman foretells the death of master chief. When his burdens are too great and voldemort takes the one ring from john halo so he can go toss it in the waters of mountdoomguy. Idk why theres magic shamans who predict the future in a sci fi military show. Its like adding zombies to fucking Suits and acting like theyve always been there.
If they wanted someone with there face in the series in live action that would get us all hyped they should have done a story about buck and maybe have him and his squad run into a spartan on a mission and have the spartan take command and have them help the spartan complete there mission
Doesn't the Mark 6 armor have a video camera in the helmet? I was super confused why Ackerson was going purely off of witness testimonies from John and Perez to conclude whether or not there were 30 elites at the relay station in the first episode.
you know how merely having a cell phone handy would kill the tension in many horror movies? bad writers just pretend easily accessible technology doesn't exist if they can't write around it. these guys couldn't write modern day police with bodycams let alone powered assault armor from the 2500s.
@@loganatori6117 it was established in S1 that specific Spartan tech is only accessible to Halsey, and based on a trailer on a conversation with Ackerson and Keyes, I think we’re going to know for sure that Ackerson is intentionally misleading the Spartans as well as the audience.
Another comment here. Have you all noticed that the ones who really nail their roles tend to be Halo fans or have read the books? Personally, I understand that not all actors will be fans of Halo, but at the very least, they should have read the books to enhance their portrayal of the characters. I believe any dedicated actor would thoroughly research the character they're trying to embody. For example, the guy who voiced Maul in the Clone Wars animation was a massive Star Wars fan and even corrected the directors on lore and character dialogue, and they actually listened to him. Now, I know we're not dealing with the same caliber of team as the one behind the Clone Wars, but they should at least have a basic understanding of what they're aiming to achieve here.
I agree with what you're saying, but sometimes it seems to be completely out of the actor's hands. Take Justin Chatwin as an example. The dude spent weeks reading/watching the Dragon Ball manga/anime to prepare for his role as Goku in DragonBall Evolution, only for him to arrive on set and be told by the director they're doing something completely different.
Ya know... i was digging it for the most part for what it was, far more than season one. I was actually kinda excited for what was being setup....... and then Markee showed up............. The wind being taken out of my sails is a UNDERSTATEMENT for how disappointed i was by this plot STILL being continued after the horrendous backlash. I can deal with Kwan (kinda), i can deal with Soren (a little intrigued to see what happens after his arrest), but the goddamn COVENANT who's whole thing is to eradicate humanity still being LED by a goddamn human is so infuriating to watch. Up until that moment I was excited for episode 3, and now I'm back to watching this as a joke to see how far the punchline goes. Cant wait to see Johnny Cheeks get his shot of love on Halo: The Bachelor
I genuinely didnt mind her character, it makes sense that the prophets would use her. Like they used Anderson in Wars. They need forerunner sensitive humans to activate tech. It isn't the first time they have used them. There were definitely problems with the first season, but Kwan, Sorren and Makee (personally) aren't problems. I think they add flavor. Its definitely not the same canon, but it isn't made to be. Should we have gotten a more canon show? YES. Wholeheartedly yes.
This show isnt going to flop, stop the cap. It aint the Halo we wanted, but it also isnt a bad sci-fi at all. In fact its pulling in fans of sci-fi everywhere and im glad it is.
I'm sorry to Paramount studios and I appreciate their efforts to bring light to Halo, but they did the games and books the worst kind of disrespect with what they did in season 1. Paramount, please just follow the lore, read the books "Contact Harvest" by Joseph Statin or "The Fall of Reach" by Eric Nylund. Please even just watch some fucking game cutscenes and you'll be just fine. Like my fucking Reach avatar has more lore in it than this entire show.
That first combat scene was really damn good. Ackerson is actually pretty good, but then Joseph Morgan is just really good with these kinds of characters (Klaus, Lysander, Brother Blood) I think I'd compare the rubble to Ceres Station from The Expanse (TV). With a touch of the Bunker from The 100 (TV) visually. The banter was straight out of Spartan Ops, Fireteam Majestic 100%. I wish you didn't mention the Bladerunner scene I forgot so fast and now I won't be able to again. But so far for me passable, at the very least I won't skip out and wait for the S3 announcement to catch up like I did with S1.
