Gaara was able to hold a bomb strong enough to destroy the whole hidden sand without even breaking a sweat the strongest thing toph did was hold a building and she got exhausted

Death Battle is usually pretty biased against anime. Gaara would kick Toph's ass anyday with or without his Tailed Beast. He fought against Madara along with the other 4 Kages for over 24 hours straight without Shukaku and that was after he fought his Edo Tensei Dad. Toph could barely hold Wan Shi Tongs Library for a few minutes. They even gave her old lady Toph's abilities while using 12 year old Toph, but they didn't give Gaara the same courtesy. I recommend you watch King of Lightning's video on this battle, he goes all in with the details.

As he lost control of his sand armor she was able to earthbend it. All she had to do was drive it into him

You gotta watch the info beforehand because that's what matters. They look at the whole history of a character, not one point in time. Also, the fight animation is for entertainment, nothing more.

I really don't think it matters how much stronger he could've been, when he loses to Toph on a fundamental level. Toph can stop pretty much any of his attacks from hitting her, so it doesn't matter how strong his blows are if they're not connecting.

But they gave Toph her older abilities but use the little girl and the fight a lot of this didn’t make sense to me

@@MDGEntertainment that's a Sprite that they used.the animation isn't what dictates the outcome, the information is. They look through the entire history of a character and don't pick and choose certain points. meaning of a character had an ability but lost it, they're not going to give it to them in his battle because they lost and never got it back.

@@holydiver6511 I'm not sure about speed, but I'm pretty sure her range and ammo with her earth bending more than makes up for it. Remember, this is meant to be the most likely outcome. Even if she she wins by 51 percent of the time, that's still the majority of the time.

@@kylemoss4936 And the animation is just for show, they look at the stats and I imagine talk a lot about who wins more then the other one. It would be weird if they used a very old woman as Toph's model. I think the strongest advantage Toph has, is how she could just hide very far away and still fight Gaara without any danger. Wouldn't make a good animation and feels kinda like cheating.

And was stated to be actually much stronger because of it. In fact, Gara's Edo Tensie father stated that Gara himself was actually stronger than Shikaku due to the fact that his power was no longer being suppressed by the seal. We actually heard something similar about Naruto when he was training to learn his wind style rasen shuriken. Kakashi stated with the seal in place Naruto had 4x more chakra than him but that him he didnt have the seal suppressing his reserves it would jump up to 100x basically putting Naruto's natural chakara reserves at the level of the 1st.

Gaara's sand is chakra infused so it is different then regular sand plus gaaras moms soul is in the sand as well

@@holydiver6511 the chakra doesn't turn it into a whole nother substance. It's still sand. The chakra is what lets him move it around, but he's never fought anyone that could wrestle control away from him or redirect it back at him.

@@TubezThe1 it doesn't need to. it stays under his control. plus benderd in avatar must be better at bending an element or substance in order to take control over someone elses manipulated substance. and gaara outclasses every sandbender in avatar if their skills were to be combined.

i'd hardly call the one war against the fire nation multiple wars, she was fighting in a underground fight arena against other earthbenders for sport and only helped the avatar, and in Korra she was police officer, basically a peace keeper.

If they used her legend of Korra feats they would have to use old toph as well, and her back isnt how it use be.

@@Ayuima69 Old Toph would have been unfair at that point since she's so powerful, she admitted to using Earthbending throughout the world to keep tabs on her daughters while living in the swamp, which means she could legit earth bend and not have to be there to do it.

What does that have to do with anything? If you want to talk about backstories then it wouldn’t make sense. She was raised as royalty and was treated super well other then the fact her parents were controlling. Gaara on the other hand only had his uncle to care for him and even that uncle tried to kill him. Gaara was also shunned by his whole village for being a Jinchuriki. During their respective wars, Toph was living it out as Royalty while Gaara had to deal with getting a meteor dropped on him and his allies multiple times as well as one of their enemies being able to create clones that he couldn’t hit(Naruto took care of them). To say that Toph had it harder is kinda bs ngl

i watcged avatar and read the comics. I've watched naruto and barely touched the manga. anyone who has watched both shoes thoroughly knows that gaara will smoke toph. no difficulty. you can't possibly think they did research on this. it is stated that gaara doesn't have gold in his sand anymore. they may have looked through the history. but it was poorly analyzed. gaara would in reality smoke the entire avatar verse

Tophs metal bending isnt a factor. Gaaras sand is to fast and strong for her to win

they explained it in the video. It doesn't make sense, but it is a fictional world so it doesn't have to. She can see earth that isn't connected to the ground. so she could see him anyway.

@@Amarik62 Garra even when hes older can barley make a shape with sand, his mother is created by her will not Gaara so we cant even count that, also he grinds up the dirt to make sand, hes a one trick pony with a single thing and he cant even do it as well as she could when she learned it. It like comparing Amon blood bending against Zabuza yeah the water attack looks cool and all but blood bending would mean he would even get a chance. They are different skill sets and one has waaay more potential at manipulation than making it do one specific thing.

You really gonna compare some one who can move sand and gold dust a little bit and some one who can meld and manipulate any form of earth into completely different shape? its oblivious who has more control and much more varied arsenal.

Toph doesnt have the speed to dodge any of gaaras sand attacks. She doesnt have the durabilty to survive even part one gaara regular sand coffin for a more in depth debunk i suggest watching Seththeprogramers debunk on the fight

In Toph's debut episode, she fought earthbenders at once. taking them all out the moment they tried to attack her because of her size makes sense, which allows her to know when and where and what her opponent is doing the moment they do it. speed doesn't matter if your opponent can tell all your moves and react accordingly like she does to all of them. Hell, one the rocks was literally inches away from the back of her head, and she turned around, grabbed it, and shoved it back at the dude who threw it, sending him through a stone arena into the other 5 people she had beaten earlier. So saying speed? Nope! As for durability, She doesn't need to take the Sand coffin. She could literally just make an are pocket or turn the Sand to stone, two things she has done before. So Gaara's Attacks are mostly useless. He may get in some hits, if he's lucky, Toph takes this off of speed, resourcefulness, adaptablity, and just having way more at her desposal to do than Gaara.

@@TubezThe1 TubezTheOne you clearly dont really understand powerscaling gaaras sand in just part one is significantly faster then lightning because kid kakashi while he was low on chakra was able to cut lightning. Just because she can see the sand coming doesnt mean she has the reaction time to dodge it or counter attack. Gaara sand coffin was so powerful in part one that it forced kimmimaro to use multiple layers of his bone shield(one layer is harder then tempered steel) and activate his curse mark stage 1 which multiplies kimmimaros overall durability more then 5 times. Part 2 gaar gets significantly stronger and faster. Toph would also have a tough time manipulating gaaras sand because it's infused with his chakra and the soul of his mother. Gaara bodies toph in every area.

@@holydiver6511 the flaw in your argument comes from the fact that you don't take into account Toph's abilities. These two are fighting each other, not Kid Kakashi or anyone else. The scaling doesn't matter or work for the fight. Kimmimaro had to do that because that's the only thing he can do to defend against it. He's not Toph, who alter Gaara's sand if she wants to. It being chakra infused doesn't matter because she can still take control of it if she wants to, because it's still ordinary sand. The chakra is what keeps lets him control it in the first place. I.e. if you wanted to control the sand around him in a desert, he'd have to infuse it with his chakra first. Unlike Toph who could pick it up and use it and move it around if she wants to. And speed doesn't matter, when you're opponent can tell what you're doing at all times, like Toph via seismic sense. There's no speed cap on it, she just knows. So any attack he does, she can redirect because she will always have the advantage of seeing it coming. You're not going to win this argument if you disregard the other person. because you have to realize that Toph is not going to just stand there and let him do anything he wants to her. Especially when she has so many ways she can turn this around.

Gaaras can control sand without using chakra its just more efficient to use chakra sand. Plus gaaras sand is living sand with his moms soul in it to protect him how is toph going to overpower that. Earthbenders can't control things that are alive... Gaara's sand is alive with his mom's soul. Not to mention that sand coffin would have been her end. It would break through her Metal armor. Why did he need time at the very start? He has way more stamina in the show. Give me a defense for why she could win.

Nah even then I'd say Toph has that, considering a. Gaara never fights hand to hand and sucks at it, and b. Toph's bending style is based on southern praying mantis kung fu, which fun fact was rumored to be created by a blind woman

ahh yes the guy that stands still and surrounds himself with earth is very fast, also all his poor controlled sand attacks are you guessed it earth, which sorry shes Leagues above him in manipulating and not just with sand but all earth applies. The attacks could very well never even hit her since she can move it away from her, just like all the other times she fought with other earth benders.

Iroh and Zuko) is faster then some one who can out run a lightning bolt (Kakashi, Guy, A, Killer Bee, Naruto, Gaara, Rock Lee, Jiraya, any of the Hokages, ect.) Also only two of the firebenders could shoot lightning ( Azula and Ozai. maybe Iroh). Only Aang in the Avatar state could take on a higher level shinobi from Naruto verse.

Scaling doesn't mean anything. You have to use them on their own merits. Plus comparing Gaara with the rest of them is kind of doing it a disservice, because Gaara doesn't ever actually fight. His style is different from everyone else's, being he fights you at a distance, chucking sand at you, not up-close-and-personal actually fist fighting. That's one thing that everyone seems to always forget with him. Gaara never fights up close. He lets husband take all the hits, never taking one himself unless in grave circumstances. And yes, Toph could react to Gaara's Attacks. The seismic sense lets her know where her opponents are and what they're doing, so she can react accordingly. She knows what your gonna do and where you're at at all times, meaning Gaara doesn't have a speed advantage. And overpowering her isn't gonna happen because she'll just use it against him. Not to mention the countless other ways she can mess with, like turning his sand armor to Stone trapping him in his own armor or turning the saying in the gourd on his back to Stone and making it useless. There's multiple ways and reasons Toph takes this and Gaara doesn't.

@@TubezThe1 I think your forgetting something. DB didn't mention it but do you remember when Aang and friends visited the library in the desert? Remember how badly Toph did against the sandbenders? Gaara outclasses them by orders of magnitude, and nowhere in the Show did it show that Toph found a way to counter them. Nowhere in the Show did it prove that benders were much faster then normal humans in that verse. If you give Toph peak human reaction speeds, she simply wouldn't be fast enough keep up with Rock Lee before he removed his weights. Also regarding Gaara's sand armor and Toph's ability to turn it to stone, please remember what happened when Lee used the Lotus against him. The replacement jutsu is a time/space technique that Toph has no way to counter.

Toph herself admitted that standing on sand made everything everything look fuzzy because it was loose. and you can't really take that as a argument considering that was her first time being in the desert. Using this as an argument doesn't work because she was at a noticeable disadvantage and they basically snuck up on her, literally the only time that has ever happened and with specific circumstances i.e it being her first time in the desert, and her first time dealing with sand. Later on she learned how to see in it and control it. Which she showed by creating a detailed model of Ba Sing Sa, down to the people in the street. if she hadn't learned how to see in sand, she would not have been able to even tell where everyone else was on the beach, let alone do that. and once again, using other people to scale to doesn't help here because they're not Toph. The only way that Lee could even get close to getting past that shield was through sheer speed, and he still lost. He can't manipulate earthly elements like Toph, who doesn't need to be fast enough to get past it, because she could just move it out the way. Not to mention, Toph can tell when people are lying. Do you really think a clone is going to trick her? All she has to do is feel for the one wearing Sand armor or with the giant gourd of sand on his back. She will still know where he is. That's the advantage of the seismic sense. And yes they did touch on that in the death battle, literally saying that she had trouble controlling sand but later learned how to control as well. If you're gonna quote someone, quote them fully.
