you can only be invaded when you have summoned a cooperator OR by using the taunters tongue. Normally there can only be 1 invader against 2 cooperators, 2 invaders against 3 and so forth, but with taunters tongue active, you can get invaded 1vs1, or 2 vs 2 and so forth.
