This is the best description of Death Grips I have ever read. It really does feel like Ride is chasing you with a blunt instrument, followed very close behind by Zach Hill with a crazed look in his eyes and blood all over his face.

Tried listening to these guys before but I couldn't get into their music. Right now I'm going through some weird, painful shit and for some reason I've decided to give them another try. It's crazy how different it all sounds now. Helps me embrace the fact that my sanity is slipping out of my hands. Their songs, but especially this album is like an audible comfort zone for me.
Weird right? I'm not in the best place mentally and if i try to listen to other music that i used to when i was happier, or anything nostalgic I'll just break down. But DG makes me feel stronger, like i am capable of overcoming my problems. Uplifting in the weirdest of ways.

My piss was fuckin brown from dehydration when I finally detoxed. 3 years clean, and the most important advice I can give is to acquire a backlog of interesting music you want to listen to, or shows, or fuckin videogames to fall back to. Most of the reason why I started back up again was because I was fuckin bored, and wanted instant satisfaction from the itch of boredom and depression. Worst case scenario, get yourself a hard ass of a friend. I fuckin hated this cunt that I worked with at mcdonald's at the time, and he ended up being my best friend after we scrapped and I told him I'd kick his ass if I were sober. Old dude still keeps me in check even though we live 3 hours away from each other.

Agreed. My favorite Death Grips album by far. I love the raw, stripped down sound they used on this one. It’s a shame it gets overshadowed by The Money Store.

I still think The money Store is probably my favorite album and arguably their best. It's certainly their most accessible album, but this one is great, I play it daily lmao.

meh. I think this is the worst death grips album. Not a lot of enjoyement I get from it. No Love is their most overrated song. NLDW just contains stuff from death grips that they did better in their earlier and later works. NOTM is an absolute masterpiece. Now THAT, I'd consider their best album.
I'm loving this album more and more nowadays. It's the darkest album the group has done so far without a doubt. It sounds like music of the riots and tensions happening here in America. That's the type of vibe i get when i listen to the entire project.
@@franciscovincent7035 not even close, no love deep web and money store are way darker sounding than yots, yots has some pretty dark songs on it but the whole album has a lighter and more uplifing and trippy sound than no love deep web or money store

Over the summer, I read "Slavery By Another Name" and "The New Jim Crow" while listening to Death Grips. At some point during my reading of both books, I thought that MC Ride was rapping the words in the book, which made my reading even more intense than it typically would be.

It's a bit sad how a band's image or intentions get interpreted so often from other people's point of view instead of their own. There are so few interviews with Death Grips so far, I think people should really make an effort to check them out, especially critics. Hearing an artist's point of view on their own art is really valuable to me.
i think they're deliberately letting us decide who they are. i think it's like them saying "whatever you think about this art says more about you than about us, and we're fine with that"
side note: do not play "bass rattle stars out the sky" with your car's sound system. it may not rattle stars out the sky, but it most certainly will rattle your brain out of your damn head.
there's so much energy on those first three tracks. i mean, it might not be my favorite death grips album, but i think this is the album they really captured the essence of a band. its not just mc ride rapping over weird beats. each member gets utilized equally and its awesome.
