Bulwark is maybe the most fun I've had using any of the classes in Eternal War Space Marine 2 so far. The highs for Assault are maybe a little higher (thunder hammer slam on 4 dudes is hard to beat), but I can consistently drop 3 or 4 k/d games playing aggressive on points with this class, and it is an awesome feeling to lead a push, tanking enemy bolter fire like its nothing, then slicing up a team with the Power Sword and Plasma combo. Something I've seen very few people doing, is the delayed Power Whirl strike in powered stance. Lead with a running attack, delay until he strikes a pose, then unleash the whirl, and I think its literally the highest dps you can have with Power Sword, it kills in essentially two hits as you leave your feet, and then the ground slam will heavily damage anyone nearby in an AOE. Super stylish way to kill groups of enemies, go make Papa Nurgle proud!
Yeah the power sword seems the only real way to go from what I have seen. Still struggling with chainsword for now. Feels like it has too little dps to achieve much in melee.
It’s definitely a class that can stomp a lobby full of pubs. Most people just run in a straight line to points and cry that they can shoot through the shield.
@@peoplespest154 Chainsword is good but because of its relatively fast swing speed and CC focused heavies, you really want to be using the heavy attack strings instead of just spamming light attack. You'll interrupt your opponents trying to melee you and rip them apart, and you can generally CC faster than the other weapon attack chains.
Maybe watching this will finally help me understand how to make Bulwark work for me. Cause at present, basically all I do is end up tanking a load of bolter fire and die to either A) a set of flanking enemies or B) a set of dudes who decide to simply bum rush me and carve up my chunky nurglite ass in close quarters.
Push with your team. Play him like reinhardt in overwatch, or if you played Tabletop like a distraction carnifex. Either they focus you and your teammates kill them, or they don't and you swing away.
hopefully it will help! i have been having a LOT of success with Bulwark in objective modes, especially Seize Ground (3 flags/zones game mode). The engagements are more spread out, and you can isolate targets and make little gank plays happen more frequently. helps a lot to have a Vanguard or Assault backing you up, they can counter initiate on Vanguards who grapple you. A big percentage of my games has been 15 and 5 or better, top of leaderboard pretty consistently. its a great class
You can fire your sidearm between blocks if you're fast enough. So block chainsword, punish with a single plasma shot, block, fire, block fire. The block is quick enough for most melee except *maybe* a knife When they run punish with more shots or a chasing melee strike Meleeing gives armor too, but you need to hit for it to work so blocks will win out with attrition or teamwork most times
Here's my advice. You have a shield, and a strong melee weapon, and a big old armor heal, and therefore play to your strengths. You very very rarely want to be sitting around taking fire. The easiest way to play a Bulwark is to hold W as much as possible while you sprint directly at enemies (assuming you aren't being flanked), and destroy them in melee. If you want to play slow and steady and be cautious, don't play a Bulwark. You lead the charge.
Nurgle bless all of you who replied. I'm not exactly topping scoreboards on the regular, but compared to where I was at yesterday with this class, I am definitely improved a significant deal. Still trying to get the hang of the pop-shotting in between shield blocks and I could definitely stand to practice the power sword twirl-into-slam combo but that's all part of the journey I suppose. Keep up the purging brothers and sisters!
I think this gameplay is what is selling me to the Space Marine 2 PVP. The amount of different aspects clashing together to create skillful use in the PVP; like the use of heavy and light attacks . Reminds me highly of old gears style play with the different weapons, intermingled with hero shooters in the classes, without the annoyance of being *hard countered* by a class. Sure the vanguard with its grapple hook can counter you, but if you're smart enough you can shut them down. And running with a good partner that'll work with you? Dominate a lobby Man this gameplay is good, Indy. Thanks for selling me. : D
Was having a really hard time as sniper dealing with the iron halo and gunfire at medium short range until I realized I had a nade for them. Very nice to be able to kill everyone 😄
been tryin to find the right way to phrase it because this was also my first thought. maps are a little too flat, and no vehicles for me to say halo though.
Really hope they add more armor part and variation for chaos space marines, also new weapons look for the chaos side would be nice (Claws for the chaos power fist and a chain axe for the chain sword)
How would you guys imagine, 4 space marine classes you can play, based on the 4 chaos mono gods. I would imagine for Slanash, they would get the Noise marine, and use The Preharicy emperors children model.
If they had the resources to make completely new ones based on the 4 monogods? I could see Khorne having berzerkers with dual chain axes and a leap which functions like a cross between current vanguard and assault and a ranged option of a grappling hook which pulls an enemy to you and stuns them for a second. Nurgle could have blightlord terminators with the manreaper scythes and plague throwers (perhaps scaling damage the longer you stay in melee with them). Slaanesh would be noise marines or duelists with precision weapons which gain an increasing damage bonus for hits in quick succession, boosted more by headshots and reduced when you miss. Tzeentch would be like playing a hero shooter or moba with a few selectable abilities like summoning a decoy, temporarily changing your skin to look like an enemy player or recalling back a second and give you the staff for whacking enemies and firing warp bolts or flames. (Bonus points if they let you conjure a Disc of Tzeentch to move around faster between points and maybe hover a little.) There's other mechanics they could work thematically but those are the most fun ones I can think of which are mechanically different and not too unpleasant to play against. (For instance Khorne could instead have a mechanic where they get scaling damage resistance based on the number of melee kills they get or Slaanesh could have a damage increase the more allied players are nearby 'watching' them but that would likely result in one player steamrolling while the rest of the team struggles for scraps or the entire team moving as a firing squad and melting anyone who tries to get close or shoot back respectively.)
Bulwarks have definitely been my favorite too. Seeing my Imperial Fist covered in heretic blood is 👌. I have no idea how to do that special melee animation though.
any attack followed by a pause will switch stances. once your character does the pose, just press attack again to do the spin slam. i like to do the sprint/dodge forward attack in power stance, followed by a short pause, then attack once more. can catch people really off guard
Anyone looking to counter bulwark, don't shoot them until block dropped in team fights. Opposite in 1v1, don't stop shooting as you approach to melee them yourself, get the first hit or a guard break. Tips as a Bulwark VS melee spam, block and fire your sidearm every half a second of breath you get between blocks. It's nearly instant and you can get into a block before their next attack for all but *maybe* a knife
Best tip to counter bulwark is to just not fight them. Kill his team and make him turn his back to yours. If he wants to sit with his shield up let him.
The way I played bulwark was I would run to an objective and put my shield up when a vanguard is occupied somewhere else and wait for them to use most of their ammo and while they are busy with me my teammates gun them down from behind
Thanks for this video, using this I learnt even more that you havent shown off. Im keeping the trick I learnt to myself for now while I work on something, but you can utalize power whirle so it make most melee fights not involving a knife trivial. Plus their is a good way to chase using the powered up sprint slash, although again you know how to use it correctly. Anyway thought Id share a bit of a hint if you havent discovered the full power of the power sword.
I would love to see tournaments between teams of highly skilled players. It doesn't need to become an e-sport or some shit like that, just community tournaments for fun.
Dude... Not only are you a great content maker but you are also an amazing player! How do you do the stomp with the sword into the ground though ? I thought it was just when falling?
thank you mate! You can activate it by doing any attack (I usually start with a running attack), then hesitating for a moment. Dont press anything until he switches stances and crouches/poses like an anime character. Then you can press attack again and you will do the Blade Whirl aoe slam
@@milkandcookiesTW thank you so much! By the way, I don't know if you were aware, but the servants of the corpse god took the objective :D Thanks again mate, have a good one!
Could you make a short PVP melee Guide? I’m kinda confused on how it works I feel like I lose a lot of fights I thought I should win and don’t get how blockin is supposed to work among other things and I feel that this is quite common among newer pvpers
They should add occasional execution animations here and there. Short ones, but add em for flavor. I don't wanna play this to min/max meta build, I wanna RP as I tear out a loyalist/traitor black carapace.
@milkandcookiesTW, what do you think of running 4 to 6 players as imperial fists, with shield walls Advancing up to points. And doing Roman tactics, such as using ranged weapons just before melee.
You can only get 3 player parties for matchmaking and each class is limited to two players in PVP. Literally impossible in game. Not to mention you'd be incredibly vulnerable to grenades.
@@ethanfox8979 2 shield wall classes. And 1 heavy for energy shields. I think that might block grinades. But not sure. Also you guys can skatter for a sec, when grinades are thrown. Then come back together. Also the held shield class Has a flag to regen health and armor of the 3 man team.
the single target stance in my experience takes 4 hits to kill, power stance takes 3. ive used both, and had more success with the faster ttk and wider sweeps/better tracking of the power stance
I wish the devs spent like 6 more months on this game polishing combat. Then it might be MUST HAVE by entire gaming community, not just 40k nerds like us. It looks a little choppy & unbalanced. But, I could be wrong, haven't played part 2 yet.
Is this mode more popular than capture and hold now? I thought capture & hold had more potential for quality teamfights and competitive meta. Nice vid, really enjoyed watching you play the bulwark.
thanks mate! im not actually sure which game mode is popular, you can Quickplay into anything and the lobby will stay on that game mode, or search the one you want. I'm not sure which would be considered more "competitive" between Capture and Control or Seize Ground. both have benefits. I prefer Seize Ground (3 zones) myself. the minor skirmishes and rotations are more fun than constant 6 man deathballs imo
rolling with a teammate helps, i really like having another Vanguard or Assault with me. if i get grappled, i just call it out and my Vanguard counter initiates with his own. Or Assault jumps on them from above. Really Vanguard is only a huge issue if you're outnumbered and he has back up. If its just a 1v1, you can just put your shield up again after the stun and its not really a problem
1- lol 2- This is like wishing for the game to turn into un-fun trash

god please no... why are you people like this ? competitive means nerfs/buffs until every class is a carbon copy in terms of numbers, it means anyone playing with suboptimal builds just because they look cool suddenly would start getting dumpstered because there's 200 "OP NEW BUILD, META GUIDE" videos on youtube every month
No they really arnt. They do one job REALLY well and that is distract people. Though, most people blindly run in a single line straight to the point and try to gun through it hence why Bulwark feels overturned. They have no primary and an average ability so they aren’t going to be killing everyone like tactical or sniper. If you have 2 decent vanguards or assaults on your team Bulwarks will struggle to keep their team alive. They are in no way overturned and I can assure you any nerf to something like their shield would be felt REALLY hard
i turned aim assist off actually, it was messing up my aim a lot in pve. im not sure if pvp has aim assist for controller or not anyway. Sensitivity is all default, whatever the base game set it to
maybe you've heard of "joking with friends" before, but then again maybe you haven't. Complaining about using cover to not get shot is pretty special though
I hate to say it, but that Shield is OP af... Not saying nerf it, but maybe buff all guns to do chip damage through the shield...That makes more sense.. Or give the Shield a health bar type thing with a cool down at least.. Yall that just stand there in the corner with a shield and can't be touched is really not right..
