MAJOR CORRECTION: The Squadron Commanders special rule is only devastating wounds to HIMSELF - not the whole squad sadly! Means he's mainly valiable for the infiltrate and orders. Not unusable, but the cavalry can't punch up against tanks and heavies anywhere near as well as I said.
I've been wanting that for so many years now for my steel legion that i just bought a 3d printer. 40K fans make cooler models than GW does in quite a lot of cases.
Combat engineers were a big loss, esp for full kreig armies. I guess GW can make 9 data sheets for SM lieutenants but can't keep up with a few Kreig units THAT YOU CAN STILL BUY.

Correct, guard is not allowed to have dev wounds on anything unless it is incredibly specific or at a cost (e.g. vanquisher, primaris psyker, squadron commander). The Deathstrike doesn't even have dev wounds...
Played a game against Grey Knights where I brought five 20 man Krieg squads, and five 20 man Infantry squads. Grey Knights purgation squad hit like 8 or 9 shots, I saved 4, FNP’d 3, and then brought the two models that died back right after.
@@Lomhow he actually was pretty gutted, we got the mission rule for having to roll to deploy from reserves. By turn 2 I had control of 3/4 of the board and the sheer number of bodies made screening really easy. Didn’t get to see the teleport rule in action before he conceded the game.
31 flavors of Space Marines, but Guard get Cadians, a Killteam of Kriegers (plus expensive as shit FW), and some nerfed to hell Catachans. What happened to all the other options?
I’m building my Krieg army and I using the Rough Riders with melta spears but with gas masks. My Kasrkin are just Krieg with wires running from their rifles to their backpacks. Using 3 Chimeras with magnetized guns, 3 Russes, 3 20 man squads, and filling out with mortars (with gas masks) and scout sentinels (with gas masks).
another combo you can do with the krieq squad is attach a regimental enginseer as the second character, and attach 4 servitors to him. Gives the squad 2 heavy weapons that, with take aim, hits on 4s, or on 3s if they remained stationary or are below starting strength
Do you think that spending 80 points (45 for the enginseer + 35 for the servitors) for only two plasma cannons or mulit-meltas is a good choice, considering that in this way it will be hard to use the engiseer to heal and protect tanks?
20 squad with platoon plus engineer with a servitor attatched, add an ogryn bodyguard with slab, and Attache trio thats a giant 36(37?) Mob with varying weapons to whatever you need.

I got back into 40k after a 30 year hiatus because of Krieg (specifically, because of Arch's insanely long Siege of Vraks videos). The 9th edition codex just dropped, and I was stoked. I wanted to field all Krieg with supporting Dark Angels as allied units. A couple months later, 10th drops. Krieg support falls off the map. My death rider command squad disappears, death riders are nerfed, engineers disappear, and I can't take DA or any astartes as allies.I was all in for the fluff. Now they collect dust as I've just abandoned them. Fare you well, 143rd. I want to love them, but GW really wants me not to.
To a point - in shooting you can trivially get to a 3+ save, which means that most massed shots will still be saved at a 4+ or better (they seldom are better than AP-1), while high-AP weapons are seldom low-shots and thus you don't overly _care_ about saving well against them (your lascannon inflicted 7 damage to one Krieger? Still lost the one Krieger). This fails during the combat phase, where you lose cover and thus go back to a base 4+ save - but you _also_ don't have the Psychic Barrier anymore, if you brought the Psyker for it. In short - a DKoK brick with Take Cover! and in cover is about as resistant against most weapon with or without the 4++, and in melee you can't get the invulnerable anyway. I've tried the Primaris and I found it mostly a spook (except for its weapons, which are actually pretty good - just not 60-points-good).
@@weissraben4476 True, to a point. :) Weapons that ignore cover, and situations where you are battleshocked or become battleshocked due to abilities(you lose your order), and you are back down to 5+ save even against 0 AP weapons. Enemies that have high ground also get -1 AP to all their shots, so there is that as well. Then there are situations where you might want to use your Order on offense rather than defense, or not having access to cover. Point is, there are a lot of situations where you only have a 5+ save or worse. As for the Primaris, it is a bit expensive, but the ranged damage is nice when combined with your Plasma weaponry firing(it has the Blast and Devastating Wounds keywords). A command squad with 1 plasma pistol and 1 plasma gun, and 2 plasma pistols and 2 plasma guns from the squad(7 hazardous test, but you can take the casualties from the squad and then replenish them). Also, the 4+ FNP vs Psychic Attacks can be pretty handy at times, depending on what you are dealing with. And in case you get in melee(very possible), 3 attacks at strength 6 with a D3 damage roll can put some decent hurt in as well.
The app did update the Marshal to "Once per battle you can target this model's unit with the IBS for 0CP and can do so even if you have already targeted a different unit with that Stratagem this phase. This cannot allow you to use the IBS more than twice per phase"
So, I need to say I'm always gunning for superior Cadians, but I'm still glad that Guard have good Krieg options, even if maybe not all of them are great. It's still a little weird to have the three/multiple regiments in a singular force, instead of playing a "Catachan" army, but I like that they each do something different, and can cooperate with each other, using those differences. Still, if you want a Krieg force, it's good to know it can work. I am a bit sad about the Death Riders. I already don't like Rough Riders; I'd have preferred if they had a bike unit, similar to GSC's pilfered Jackals unit, and like every other faction gets, but if I had to accept cavalry, I'd prefer DR over RR; they can at least keep theme with a regiment (Attilan infantry has been gone for YEARS), and they have a better, more weird, sci-fi aesthetic. Mordian Glory did a neat video on if they are good, but it's still too bad, maybe, that they aren't better. Is GW trying to excuse getting rid of Forge World? Their resin isn't always popular, and neither are their even more inflated prices, but I still feel they fill a niche in some factions. It could definitely look bad to pin superior units behind a pseudo-middle man shop, and the higher pay wall that surrounds it, but if they phase out all of its models; bring them to "official" 40k, or make them all less suitable Legends units, it just feels like FW won't serve a purpose? They already struggle to keep multiple models in stock; Shadow Spectres are a huge hit in Eldar, right now, but haven't been available for years?, and you'll take a huge hit to the wallet buying them off Ebay. It would be great if Forge World could maybe be the group that did more of the niche sellers, in a way to keep them available; all those "rotated out" units that a person might want, but you don't want cluttering shelves, but right now, it just feels like they want to break the connection between FW and 40k, which seems even worse for FWs bottom line than their luxury+ prices already do. I suppose FW covers other GW games, apart from 40k, but I'm pretty sure 40k is still their far an away best, biggest, and most profitable game?
To be fair, guard variety is pretty important, but being able to attach and smash together units of all different guard types is very accurate to the setting. There should be an overall strong flavour to the force, maybe based on highest percentage or something. Guard armies often do fight with forces just from their world, but it seems like a lot of the time, half-strength regiments are smashed together, or there’s a ton of different Guard elements in the same AO.
8:41 My understanding is of the 2 leaders a 20 man krieg squad can have, 1 of them has to be a platoon command squad. So you can have a command squad and Psyker but not a Marshall and psyker. If i am wrong let me know but thats how I understand the 2 leaders rule for guard infantry.
nope, there's no rule that says you must take a platoon command squad as one of your leaders. The data sheet says you just can't take more than 1 platoon command squad. You can absolutely take a marshal and psyker.
Yea man.....im a space marine player. But I picked up the KT starter set since m gd like Orks and now I'm in love with DKoK....they need to seriously get a range update and codex of some kind. They are THAT popular. And Kasarkin are cool for sure....but DKoK and Steel Leegion are just sick.
These boys are tough to shift. I've played a couple of games against 3 20man blocks with Marshall, order up an extra armor, put them in cover, medic pac brings them back, opponent always save 2 cp to rez a twenty man. I can kill 'em, but not fast enough to get any midfield objects. Oh man, these boys be doing the Emperors work
I love Krieg, i have close to a 2k point list of exclusively Krieg/converted Krieg. But it pisses me off to no end that you can give them a 5+ FNP while Death Guard had their rule robbed from them..

With the price of the models my dream of an army end proberly with an Death Korps Combat Patrol. (Which is rather easy to convert and fluffy thanks to the artillery) I really hope that they improve their model line. It does not need much. Just the riders, grenandiers, heavy weapon teams, command squad and engineers. (And a 5 man box with lasguns only fixed position for 10 bucks and in stock so i can buy 10 boxes of them)
I'd make it an alt to the normal lasgun mode and make it as thus: RANGE 24", A 1, WS 5+, S 3, AP -1, D 1, Heavy. And potentially add lethal hits or dev wounds (not both) to show how powerful a charged shot is. Probably lethal hits.
@@TheConnorian Definitely none of the wacky added rules. Standing still to get -1 AP is enough for a lasgun. 10th is already plagued by too many "fart out MW on a 6" weapons.

Personally i think there is going to be a platic Krieg release for the next IG codex. Especially because the galatic shift is to the West in Segmentum Pacificus. Krieg is literally right next door.
I hope so! Currently i try to collect all the factions in the octarian war. Atleast their combat patrols. And it is quite easy to convert the normal astra militarum patrol into a krieg one. You only need 3 sets of them and a banner. To convert it fully.
I've never met a single person who prefered cadians to krieg. Krieg also fits the Astra militarum in the game far more. I mean: only suicidal maniacs woudl run into a bunch of terminators just to buy a few precious seconds.
I have one question concerning the Death Korp of Krieg -> Does ''Take Aim!'' and Grim Demeanor Stack? Can they have a BS 2+? My first impression was that this is possible because Take Aim gets you a better Ballistic Skill and Grim Demeanour just add 1 to the Hit roll....am i right?
Having played games against a friend who runs DKoK squads, they're really annoying to go up against. The FNP and revive stuff is rough, but it just gets to be a slog when they start shooting with all of their special weapons in tow. As if moving an infantry army doesnt take long enough, somehow the shooting phase takes even longer with them.
The only reason I never bought FW Krieg was because of their ridiculous price, but I'd gobble it up in plastic, much like I did with the new standard Krieg infantry.
Math is hard, and I didn't do any, but my guess is that he's saying getting a 50% increase on the normal 5+ save, by being able to take the 2nd 5++ fnp after it. Not that the 5++ is saving 50% of the time.
People keep saying you put a Marshall and a Psyker in the same unit. But you CAN'T do that since neither of them have the 'Command Squad' Keyword needed to put two leader units into an infantry blob. The datasheet says "This unit can have up to two Leader units attached to it, provided no more than one of those units is a Command Squad unit."
This means you can’t have two command squads attached; not that you must have at least one command squad attached. You can attach 2 characters to any battle line unit or scions squads

They got gutted so hard. I like the special rules, but they lost a ton of their flavourful units. They used to be a subfaction akin to dark angels or blood angels, now they a spice Astra with slightly different horses and a different marshal.
Used to be the secret was to take nothing but grenadiers instead of regular infantry and then you could get shit done. You got more than your money's worth for only 2 more points per model.
Extremely unpopular opinion, but I kind of liked Krieg being a forgeworld army with a lot of conversions and expensive models. Felt like the ultimate collector/hobby army. Now its in a weird spot where they're kind of their own army but not really?
I think you're right. For everything great 3D printing has done for the hobby, the loss of rarity is something I do miss. Not that I had many rare models myself or the money to buy them.
I prefer them to come out as Kill Teams first. Cause then they at least get released sooner rather than later. I worry we wouldn't have gotten them at all.
GW put so little thought into the Krieg squad. Giving it a super medic ability better than other regiments, when they in lore are the ones who DO NOT care about wounded and just harvest the equipment, is so tone deaf to their own world they've made. Like they never thought about this unit at all but just threw a random rule on in 5 minutes carelessly.
@@LomhowHaving a medic is fine. They do have them. But just make it like a normal one, not a super powerful god medic that apparently only krieg have. It is clearly just a rush job.

Same reason you’ve gotta be cautious around history majors who are overly obsessed with the first and second world wars. Sometimes it’s just because it’s a fascinating part of history. Sometimes it’s to glorify early 20th century Germany and that’s a problem no matter how much the 40K base might wanna deny it.
Hey so, historian and 40k fan here. Their uniforms are a mixture of different inspirations from across ww1, with more of a focus on french design than german. Their entire design is function over form. You also seem to be misunderstanding how history works. Its not black and white, all forces have grey in them. Whilst venerating the third reich is pretty disgusting, its not really the same for the imperial government. Ww1 as a whole was a byproduct of shifting alliances and simultaneously calling the bluff of several great powers. Personally id say its a bit more complicated than imperial germany bad, based off letters between the kaiser and Tsar it is clear that the war was less some vast imperial conquest and a result of incompetent autocratic foreign policy. Before you call me some kind of fantacist of the second reich, I personally hold no real opinions for or against either side as it makes no sense to be biased for or against factions in an army that ended over 100 years ago.
