Death Metal Vocal Demonstration Speech (For School) I had to give a "Demonstration Speech" for my public speaking class, so of course I had to do DM Vocals. Hope you all like it, have a good laugh too ;)
I like how at first he's awkwardly forcing himself through a pile of index cards in front of a captive audience of bored classmates like we've all had to do, but as soon as he has a flashing light on him and starts doing those first growls, he's just like "oh righ, I'm an entertainer. This is my whole thing." Then he suddenly comes to life and his personality comes through.
@@TheLastGameekaner not that he wasn't confident all the way through, but as soon as the lights hit him he loosened up, like he was the frontman at the concert.
I think it would be a lot more awkward and cringe without the humour, the fact that he keeps joking about hiding in peoples closets and screaming makes him seem a lot more grounded.
People can be pretty iffy about metal sometimes. I also get greeted with shock about it because I am/come across as a well-kept, churchgoing, straight laced kind of person and I typically only let people see my love for blues. After seeing the way people treat me differently for loving metal (not always in a good way) I typically keep it under wraps. I hope people treat you better for it nowadays
@@meredithgrubb7027 All the boys back in my school only listened to rap, hip-hop and some radio pop stuff. Same with the girls. I was always the odd man out 😅
Sadly enough I feel isolated because one of them are my sisters plus whenever I play the music that I love they tend to talk shit about it even if I respect their own taste of music and they happened to be a Swifties GOD the world itself is cruel enough for me to endure such pain and I wish I find a sweet haven of people who listens to the same music as I am and accept it without any haste...
Maybe i just make links where there are none, but i feel like metal may be a particularly expressive genra with an aura of non-comformity, attracting people with intense feelings.
Unless it’s a couple people talking to each other about something else, I’ve never seen students be disrespectful & talk shit about the person presenting. People like that only exist in movies
@@ImaBobbyMudda I was more or less talking about my friends and how they react when I hit a high or low. Rap is the mainstream now so if your music taste doesn't revolve around that people have something to say where I live.
Nice job, man. I know personally how it feels to do screaming vocals in front of a class that may not enjoy what you're about to do, so I tip my hat to you. In my senior year of high school, I was in choir for the first time in my life, so my singing not too shabby. For years, though, I would do low inhale screaming when I was alone because I was too scared to do it in front of people, except for a few friends. Near Halloween, however, my AP Literature teacher said that she set the last school day before Halloween was "Weird Talent Day", and that we had to do a presentation for the class. I chose to do We Came As Roman's cover of "Glad You Came" because I hoped it had enough pop in it to not repel my classmates too much. After I sang/screamed the song, one of my classmates just said, "How does that sound come out of you?" My teacher did not like the screaming, but I got an A.
When I was 16 I presented a death metal song from my band in class. This one quite girl who had a classical music education just analysed the the tone and rythm and stuff, completely straight faced.
Dude i couldnt believe it when he busted out the advanced lightbox with the old youtube player! RU-vid decided to recommend this to me 10 years after it came out, I hope this legend kept pursuing his passion. The best presentation ive ever seen and it still ends with "so uh yeah, thats the presentation" really brings it home
The subject presented in relation to the class is brilliant. Your understanding and respect for the vocal system goes above and beyond. Your vocals are stellar and the light box is dope. You don't need a grade you need an audience/class.
Great work! I think I slowly evolved in my years to truly appreciate this type of music. It's not screaming. There's a science behind it and the power behind most of the lyrics and performances is just so much fun to watch. Great job. I'm sure you got your "A".
This is a really awesome example of passion and confidence working together to shed light on a topic that most would sound silly trying to explain (or at least I know I would if I tried something similar). Seriously cool short presentation that I found inspiring in regards to embracing your passion with confidence.
This guy deserves some respect! He put together a killer presentation, wasn't afraid to demonstrate what he knows and spoke with confidence the entire time. He better have received an A.
XxchemikillxX Hey man! I have been loving your videos so far. Do you by any chance have an inhale high scream tutorial? I deem myself to have a good vocal range but I really want to get the technique down right! My apologies if you already have a video.
I was 7, the first time i got into a deathmetal concert. And now im 16, and every single concert i was at, the fans or deathmetal singers were the nicest and most chill people ever!!! Just like this guy!!!
This guy is a beast. He's obviously a sick vocalist and has good enough public speaking skills to educate general groups of people a vocal style that's shunned by pop culture. Props to you man, you're awesome.
I've been doing metal vocals for over a decade and i have never heard anything like that inhale high. I'm figuring that out *immediately* that is *so sick*
You are doing the lord's work man! I've never seen someone explain extreme metal vocals so well ! People like you are key in normalising our music taste which still to this day seems not normal to many people unfortunately
This guy is really articulate and what he says about singing in this genre is SO clear and stated professionally. It’s a very good presentation, objectively. The professor must have been really happy to have him as a student.
I've been traumatized for lack of a better word into not sharing the kind of music I'm into (which is the heavy music like in this video) because of past experiences with people mocking me or physically recoiling when I played my favorite music around them so good on you for getting up and doing this in public and putting it on RU-vid. There's definitely a stigma around our favorite music and I'm glad that you dispelled a little bit of that stigma doing this speech.
bronze maybe. gold would be chester bennington scream god damn diamond is floor gensins operatic i dont want to call it screaming its to damn controlled.
Who knows, maybe one of the introverts were collecting the info and were encouraged to continue practicing when mom leaves the house. You never know how your passion will ignite another!
My man was on top of the world that day, not only was he speaking about his passion but people were actually responding to what his saying. He had the whole crowd and you can just see his confidence grow more and more through the video, way to go my guy 🤟😎
This is so awesome, death metal requires an incredible amount of musicianship and people are not really aware of it. Thanks for informing the masses! Also, props for the teacher for giving this dude the platform and the room to talk about something that might be 'scary' or taboo
10 years later and this for some reason pops up in my recommended page. I was 14 when this was made. Gotta say, death metal never really has been my style of music, but I can respect the artform. I always thought it was just people making the most demonic sounds possible, but I learned that there's actually a style to how it's done. You've got far more courage than me, as to me, putting myself in front of a class and screaming sounds like a great way to induce a panic attack lol.
In college for history class I did the star spangled banner on electric guitar with distortion and threw in some shred solos. The girl after me started by saying her presentation won't top mine lol
Awesome presentation man. You did a great job. Thanks for the tip about tongue placement. I always had trouble with making a decent sounding death growl but once you mentioned that I started practicing and it all came together.
You can call this cringe if you want, but the next presentation is gonna be some sneeb talking about how to make a sandwich or some shit. I've been in a public speaking class, its rough. This dude is confident as hell, and you can even tell by the vibe of the class they're enjoying it because of that.
I really hate people that call things cringe that is such a gay thing to say whenever I see that typed I imagine it some 12 year old girl who shouldn't be on RU-vid in the first place
@@TrollHiddenCave 1. Don't use gay as an insult 2. Thousands of people of multiple ages and gender use the word cringe 3. RU-vid has content for children below the age of 12, not that this video is inappropriate anyway
Metal pride. Taking something considered normal to us, to people who may find it a bit odd, and presenting it with humility, humour and class. An ambassador of the music and clearly a genuine dude. Respect. 🤘
I watched this for the first time 3 years ago. It took a while, but I've nailed all the techniques in this video. You were the start of it, man! Starting a band soon at an Alice Cooper Rock Centre!
That was the best explination of voice control I have ever heard in my life. Also, props to not neglecting diaphragm use. I fired a vocal coach, because she told me it was 'unnessessary'.
My throat hurts just by listening to it. Anyway, very impressive how you’re able to do those screams and growls. Practice is key. You’ve mastered it. 👌
vidmasterx7 end it with a shotgun, the esoteric agenda, forced to rot, and i got some new projects in the works. Email me and ill send you some shit. Viralveilproductions@gmail.com
Dope!... and people say it's just noise, but really it's a art that takes time, practice, breath and skill. Respect man... Oh and what's your band's name? so I can start listening.
ded fafsd The only one who even mentioned religion was that dumb fuck Johnny Jillky. Let's start with the "Dangers of Atheism" Should we start with the millions killed by Hitler? Stalin? Musollini? VA in vietnam? Pol Pot? Communist China? North Korea? It's such a joke how blind people are to see that Atheism is the cause of more death in the past century than all of religion combined.
***** Sure, let's forget the 5000+ years of history that happened, of an insane number of religions and permanent "global" wars, clearly the few conflicts that happened in the past century which a big part of were mostly "cold wars" alike did way more victims ... Go home , you're drunk. Actually atheism brought humanity to its most pacific era, no global war for more than ever in the known humanity history, let's forget about it too right? Let's guess who's the real blind guy...
Let's forget the Isreal/Palestinian conflict, that is sure not about jews & muslims... Hitler? Not about jews at all ... The multiple ethnicals (that are mostly on religious purpose) slaughters in africa (cf nigeria/kenya , that's happening right now) , forget it !What about maoists killing buddhists in Cambodgia? Actually they called it a "genocide" hm ... Don't even think about Russian's christians killing jews during the pogrom, that clearly didnt exist. Armenian genocide? not about Muslims killing Christians at all ! that's a lie ! ... I can go on like this for a while, even in the past century religions brought more deaths that anything else.
ded fafsd Your logic is flawed and ignorant as you attribute the atrocities/conflicts in the past 5000+ years being a result of religion dissociated from non-religion and/or that with Atheism in place of religion such conflicts would never have happened, Of course religion is associated with most conflicts in our history because our history is religious. Your reasoning is as stupid as saying that most people who have their lungs filled with water to the point of dying is a result of drowning. No shit. Atheists ridicule religious people for having a false unproven belief system, yet atheism is exactly that - faith and belief in the unproven - atheism cant prove that if it was the predominant belief system no wars would have occured. Atheism can't even provide a rational or structured belief system or foundation for morality.Atheism is nothing more than a false sense of security for confused idiots who don't want to be held accountable for their actions and whose explanation for why things are is to blame a God they don't believe in for their lack of action in solving the world's problems. According to your Atheistic religion, non-Atheistic religions in the name of their god are the cause of all horrors of this world, yet according to Atheism there really isn't a god. So humanity itself is at fault for the bad things that have happened. What is atheism doing to solve world hunger? Prevent wars? Cure cancer? Feed and shelter the homeless? Care for widows? Protect the unborn? ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOTHING! You're too busy arguing with religious people on the internet and would rather blame them then get off your fat ass to make a change. Atheism and its corresponding liberal political agenda has brought us into a world of moral degradation and a warped sense of what is just. Murdering unborn children? Sure the Atheist-liberal agenda has allowed the US alone to executed over 50 million since 1972,
man... this is fantastic!! This may be the like second youtube video I've ever commented on haha. This had to have got an A... I randomly stumbled upon this video looking up stuff COMPLETELY unrelated but damn am I glad I found it. I give it an A++ Informative as hell (I learned some things) and this man brought his own light box for emphasis! Love it.

I always default to tunnel throat screams, a kind of vomit-sounding one that I know will fuck up my throat later down the line, and low inhale screams. I’ve been trying to figure out how to do low death growls for a while and this really helped. Thanks!
He didn't just chat shit and bore everyone. He made it fun and got giggles out of people. Great energy. I normally get bored easily so I thought it was a great presentation.
The subtitles going like: So, this next scream is an ice cream. and: But, this is what a hot ice cream sounds like. I guess it refers to ''High Scream'' lol that killed me.
I can't believe you have the balls to present that to an entire classroom! Plus, I actually learned something to make me a better vocalist! Thanks bro 🤘🏻🤘🏻
"Hello fellow classmates. My presentation will cover a brief Deathmetal history while taking an in depth look at how different sounds of the genre(s) are able to be achieved with accompanying examples of each." Standing in the perfect spot of the projector screen: Cinn 🤘💀
It’s hobbies and stuff like this that you see and ur like “oh there’s no talent to do that your just screaming “ but then you get informed on how much skill it takes and that’s awesome
theicedevil actually that isn’t how he does it, he does his exhaling and from the gut. He forces out a lot of air at the same time while growling i think. But on his long high ones he may use this technique
