When I grew up in the 1960's in Seattle, Wa, there was no homeless people. First time I went to California was in 1965 my dad drove us down there to disneyland in a 57 Chevy & there were no homeless people. Back then there was prosperity & a thriving middle class & the working man could get ahead. Unlike today, My dad paid cash & never used a credit card, in today's world everyone is in debt & living beyond their means. Financing is out of control. We live in an economy of borrowed money of high rent, evictions & car repo's & foreclosures. Student loans, the top 1% want all this to break the 99% so they can have it all. Too much privatization college education & healthcare are free everywhere else but the US. America the richest country where all these things should be provided. In 1944 FDR wanted to add a 2nd bill of rights. The right to a job paying decent livable wages for food, clothing & recreation. The right to own a decent home. The right to a free college education & free healthcare. Economic protection from sickness, old age, accident & unemployment. It's regulated capitalism balanced with socialism & most countries have this except the US. As long as we have a system that only benefits the top 1% as long as they control & run the economy this is the end result of increasing numbers of homeless people on the streets. As long as the top 1% control the government & buy elections to serve their interests this disaster will continue & get worse.

It actually looks like conditions are getting worse. Hell on Earth runs free in the US.

The rich celebrity's living in the Hollywood hills looking over the poor plebs in downtown la. real sad. Last time i went there in 2006, There was no homeless tents or anything.

Cost over 100,000 $ an hour to run air force one, but we can not clean this mess up .......

When I grew up stealing was wrong. And so was child abduction but people have found some sort of way to make it a job now days.

The government officials do not care. Otherwise they would do something about it. In 2021, 120 plus people overdosed on fentanyl in skid row and last year 148 overdosed on fentanyl. They have to enforce the laws no tents allow during the day. It's already a law and it's not enforced.

It be better if the government got rid of the rent system.

This is the result of failed leadership and a court system that allows this to get worse. Now, there are too many homeless people in Los Angeles for this problem to be fixed. We can find housing for 100 on Monday, but by Friday, 200 more become homeless. We can blame addiction, rents, job losses and more, but it's too late. Nothing was done, and now, nothing can be done to stop this nightmare.

Skid Row in LA is not half as bad as East Vancouver in Canada. As many tents as are shown on skid row, there are no tents in East Vancouver only zombies walking and bodies dead or passed out for blocks on the sidewalk.

I used to lived close to there you must have gone clean day I moved out of California because I could not afford it and it was getting worst and I did not want to have my children end up on skid row so I moved to NC then now that my kids are older I moved to Iowa but I be away sense 2018.

Progressive Democrat policies at their finest. LA, San Jose, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver BC, all the same. Unless my husband and I can find a rental or get a newer cheap trailer we'll be completely homeless, right now we are on private property in the woods without the necessities we genuinely need like water and the land is being sold, I have had the opportunity to see two different mountain lions a few feet from the door, I'm in a gutted out RV and it's nasty, I'm considering loss of life right now.

If the heavy flow of drugs was eradicated, one could begin to separate those free willing perpetual addicts,from those who, if a solid chance arose wouldtake it and clean up. It would also make those with mental illness more distinguishable. The fact that there is not housing for this turns the whole thing into a big catch 22. As a non American, 20 years ago when I was a 6 year old I saw America was a utopian country (in a positive context of course) of course there were always poor and rich people in every country but I assumed being poor in America would be better. but 2 years ago I went to Michigan (where my aunt married an American citizen) took me on trips to several states and it opened my eyes. America alone destroyed my image of this country. I certainly don't understand the details of the laws or laws in this country, but I think you deify freedom too much and are always money-oriented. I mean your government is not eradicating drugs, guns and other crimes and using the excuse of "human right" and freedom. When it was not regulated decisively and cruelly, a comfortable and peaceful life was only owned by politicians and rich people. Sorry if my statement is wrong/disrespectful.
