Bunny Debarge did that damn thing👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I was so proud of her on her solo. Don’t get it twisted Bunny & El did majority of the written on all there albums. Truly a talented family💯❤️

Can you imagine how special these songs were for those of us who grew up in the 80s? Back then, we didn't have as many distracting things and weren't inundated by information with things like the internet or hundreds of cable TV stations. So we could take the time to really appreciate just how good some music really was then; just sit and let it marinate and gel, lol. A group like DeBarge was truly, truly special, and they made absolutely amazing, endearing and enduring music. Glad the current generation is getting a chance to appreciate it as well through channels like yours. :)

DeBarge are great songwriters. "Love Me in a Special Way," "All this Love" and "Stay With Me" (which I think has been sampled) are good love songs. El's solo stuff is also good. "Another Chance" is very Marvin Gaye influenced.

This is one of the few De Barge songs where the sister sang the lead. Another classic from this Motown group, great selection my brother. Keep it up.

Debarge had an album before the All this Love album called The Debarges minus James Debarge at the time. The had some nice songs called "What's your name?"..."Queen of My heart" and "Share my World". Check it out on you tube.

DeBarge was smooth back in the day for sure. Such a tragic family history they had, should have been much bigger than they ended up being. "I like" is one you definitely need to check out, to me it's their signature song.

I have to give a shot out to the Debarge Family Personal Recording, and Mixing Engineer. Mr. Barney Perkins. who would play this song day, and night. when the Debarge Family were Recording there now Classic album. IN A SPECIAL WAY. he/Barney, ask El to put this song on there album, and EL did. THANK YOU Barney Perkins...Barney would go off and work with Anita Baker, L.A and Babyface. on there recordings. but, he will always go down as the Debarge Family Engineer. they found Barney at Motown. there Brother Bobby Debarge used Barney on those Switch Records, back in the LATE 70's...again, BARNEY PERKINS. one of the best Recording Engineer's ever born. Barney died in 1993. and, he was a Brotha.

Cool to see you react to this. One of my favorite songs by this group. Such an amazing voice by her. And great harmonies and melodies. Other songs by DeBarge with a similar emotional and smooth vibe are "I Like It", which was sampled by many artists (check out the WhoSampled site for more). Grand Puba (of Brand Nubian) sampled "I Like It" on his good song "I Like It (I Wanna Be Where You Are)", and Warren G sampled it on "I Want It All" featuring Mack 10. Another similar song by DeBarge is "All This Love". Also, El DeBarge was on some of DJ Quik's songs

Top to bottom best vocals of any family including the Jacksons. Bunny wasn't even the feature vocalist in the family!. It would be like Tito singing lead on an all time Jackson banger, didn't happen, couldn't happen. The Debarge bench was deep!, the best singer in the family was actually in another group.

My only issue with sampling is it often takes something beautiful and uses it to build something dark, a form of low magic- maybe even witchcraft. Certain songs are perfect expressions of who we are as a people but if we keep degrading every generation the next group is often encouraged to destroy previous more idyllic versions of the self. Only we do it, and I wonder why.
