The Spider-Man parody was actually Spider-Man for real in the comics. Invincible had a few crossovers with other comic series, but they couldn't get the rights to Spider-Man for the show, so they had to make a Spider-Man parody.
Its gonna be weird watching the show since there are some events that occur later on, with other image comic characters thatll probably have to be altered due to them probably not having the rights to those characters
I believe Kirkman said (for S1) that the mummy thing was just a joke. I imagine it’ll just be a running gag of this potential threat that’s always getting thwarted completely unintentionally. But it would be crazy it something actually significant comes from it
i like the potential of the running gag, where every time we cut back to the chamber with the mummy there are MORE skeletons than last time because people keep going in😂
Cool thing people don't seem to connect in other reactions I've seen; there's no oliver in other dimensions because omni man didn't have his change of heart and go to thraxa to birth oliver in other dimensions
Seeing Mark have a mental breakdown at the fact that he killed Angstrom and thought he was stuck in a barren wasteland was heartbreaking, even though, yes, I do agree that Angstrom deserved to die. Mark justifiably killed him in self-defence, plus he also hurt Debbie and threatened Oliver. Angstrom Levy is also a tragic villain since he's struggling to juggle every memory of alternate versions of Angstrom in the multiverse. Still, in nearly every universe, Mark is evil and kills or ruins Angstrom's life in each of them. Even if it was all Angstrom's fault to begin with, I still can't help but feel a little sorry for him. Steven Yeun and Sterling K Brown did a phenomenal job and gave performances of a lifetime in this episode. It's also really emotionally surreal seeing Nolan actually miss his wife, and this is a tremendous development for him, especially when last season had him calling Debbie a 'pet'! CAN'T WAIT FOR SEASON 3! BTW, even though the show couldn't use the rights for Spider-Man because of Disney, I still LOVE hearing the Spectacular Spider-Man voice actor himself, Josh Keaton, return to play a Spider-Man-like character.
I mean there was literally no way to contain the man. He can spam portals. It literally was not even an option to spare him. As you said, he was too insane from the memory merge.
I’m glad Mark didn’t just jump into a relationship with Eve. He just broke up with Amber the day prior and dealt with Angstrom’s Levy’s shenanigans the same day. I can’t imagine him being in a well enough mindset to be in a relationship right now. But at least he knows about Eve’s feelings for him now which is progress.
I think it's kinda ambiguous why Omni-man hates himself. One is that he regrets killing so many people, the other is that he thinks feelings of guilt are a sign of a failed Viltrimite
I prefer this way of writing the end of the Levy fight vs going into the trope of "the Joker of it" that was brought up. Seeing the terror on his face when he realized he finally pushed Mark over the edge vs a sense of smug satisfaction felt like it fit better. He wasn't a maniacal character. He just over estimated his body and under estimated Mark. To the point of why wouldn't he go to other universes to get rid of bad Marks -- this was his universe. He has the memories of all the other Levys, but their world aren't his own. It just so happened that his own world's Mark was the one out of them all where he wasn't evil. That's how it came across to me.
How they showed Mark was holding back is great. The entire Levy fight was Mark gradually hitting the gas pedal. First dash at Levy was barely an inconvenience, 2nd or 3rd dash knocked him on his butt and the last one ended him.
Writers haven't always known how to write Superman. There's a reason SUPERMAN THE MOVIE and SUPERMAN II still hold up half a century later. Clark with all his powers couldn't save his dad. Superman's interview with Lois was essentially their first date. Superman was anguished at having to save Miss Tessmacher's mother first when Lois was also at risk. And the raw fury at being too late to prevent her death. In the sequel we see the amping up of the Clark / Lois romance including depowering to become human for Lois but the anguish at seeing all the humans threatened by the Kryptonians and struggling to return to the Fortress to regain his powers and despite getting his powers back and taking the fight to them then seeing all the humans caught in the crossfire lead him to flee. Superman / Kal-El / Clark can be an indepth character.
The Superman point makes no sense, how does he not connect to Earth? He's lived there his entire life, he's a human in every way emotionally. I never really got this critique of Superman. Idk what Superman stories you've been watching, but you gotta find some good ones.
This is josh Keaton 3rd version of Spider-Man he voices. Spectacular Spider-Man, black tarantula from young Justice and now agent spider. Edit: had to look it up after reply, yeah black spider is actual name.
It was already explained that he can’t just be flying around in space for a long time. He can only hold his breathe for a long period of time so if he doesn’t make a jump to another planet in time then he will die
Comic Spoilers: . . . . . . I think one of the saddest thing in episode is something we haven't seen yet. Oliver will remember every detail of what happened. Remember being powerless to help his mother figure and brother while they're getting crushed. That's enough to mess the kid of Omniman up a bit.
Angstrom was very unhinged in this episode but it’s not like we can really blame him , i still felt bad for him in the end. He’s a tragic character not a hateable one , we should know the diffreince.
I have never thought about the Superman angle but I 100% agree. I also don't think Superman is an interesting character but I love Invincible. This episode had a spider crossover and I think those characters are similar in that they both have so much heart in their portrayals.
I just noticed a fun little easter egg on the poster you put up on the right side of the screen with all the characters on the bus and it teases the Dupli-Kate twist. You can see three Kates on the bus. At the back next to Black Samson is 1. Also in back, next to the Maulers behind Monster Girl's elbow is 3. And there's one in front facing backwards talking to the Immortal that we can presume to be 2. But we can't see her number. What we CAN see, though, hidden in back next to 3, is a *fourth*. Kate. You can only see her crotch in between Monster Girl's elbow and thigh. I think that's Kate 0 symbolically hidden away out of sight. Or else that one is one is 2, and the one talking to Immortal is Kate 0 hidden right in plain sight.
Has Dusty ever watched *Smallville?* I know what he means about Superman, but that show was the first time I accepted the premise that he really cares about humans rather than just his parents and Lois Lane. And I guess now *My Adventures With Superman* started going down that path as well.
The thing is, Superman material has been doing this for decades. I’ll never comprehend Dustin’s gripes or any detractor of the character for that matter.
@@CurseTheCosmos You're assuming people are going out of their way to give the character every chance when it's more reasonable to assume they're referring to the more famous mainstream representations. Even the movies before Snyder tried to sell some reiteration of his most common origins + Lois Lane + Luthor storylines.
See now I want this Spider hero to appear in the next Spiderverse movie alongside a super powered character wearing a “lawyer friendly” costume variant of Mark’s, is voiced by Steven Yeun and when they try to say the character’s name a heroic fanfare drowns out the sound of the name
Maybe Dustin knows otherwise, but I think the Mummy thing was just a gag to relieve the dramatic weight briefly; MAYBE it’s supposed to be foiling a kid finding their father the way Mark found Nolan’s ground pounding etc 🤷♂️
To me with duplikate it made sense she wasn't dead I mean the number on the suit alone honestly proves it I mean wouldn't 1 obviously mean it was the first copy not the original kate.
Its more that it makes no sense she would ever personally be in combat since her duplikates can duplikate themselves. I just figured she was stupid because its a super hero show and superheros never utilize their powers effectively. (especially atom eve who has the most broken ability in the show)
Angstrom is an amazing character, but I still don't get the logic in going after one of the only versions of Invincible who's actually a good guy. It seems like his accident has left him without said logic. He almost breaks a few times, too. When Mark tells him that he saved him. You can see him almost snap out of it. It's actually a great way for the writers to explain what would otherwise be a plot hole lol. If Angstrom was in his right mind, he wouldn't be going after this version of Mark. He'd be going after all the others.
angstrom is right, absolutely all invincibles turn evil no matter what, our mark included, remember the future guardians of the globe mention exactly this, simply put he's targetting the "good" mark because its the only one he can realistically kill, remember invincible holds back unlike his evil counterparts, if he were to try this on any of the other invincibles he may end up dead sooner or later cus he cannot create a hostage situation on them also this is the invincible who made him a "freak" which is the main reason he has to hate specifically THIS mark
Ain't gonna lie, I feel like the mummy shit is just a gimmick. Like they did the exact same thing in the first season with it being unearthed and then covered again. I feel like it'll happen a 3rd time in season 3 and it won't be any clearer lmao
I think it's gonna be a running gag where he tries to escape but keeps getting sealed. It would be funny if at the end of the series, he finally escapes, and then he gets one shotted by Mark.
It’s hard to say. I have no idea how durable Oliver is especially since Cecil told Mark there was no scratch on him. But it does make you wonder what he did to Oliver since we last saw him held up.
