I finally read this very popular nonfiction book "debt: the first 5,000 years" by David Graeber. It is definitely a good book, but it is not nearly as good as the hype surrounding it would lead you to think. Here's my review.

Nope. But I am sure it exists. If I had more time I would do that. I know there are some book clubs out there though that kinda do this.

You should also check out Micheal Hudson's work on debt and the history of debt. Especially And Forgive Them Their Debts, & The Collapse of Antiquity.

thanks for the review! this confirms my doubts about this book. too much opinion for me I guess. PS: what do you say to "the ascent of money"? I am 2/3 through and I like it until now. PPS: there is also "the price of time" which is supposed to be a good book on interest by edward chancellor.

I am going to read that soon. Debt actually cites ferguson and claims he is wrong. That debt isn't a revolutionary way to help the poor. I will review ascent as well.
