Dealing with several common myths about Christmas, including...
Was Jesus a real historical figure?
What were the "magi" and how many were there?
Why "gold, frankincense and myrrh"?
Did the angels sing?

As you say, Jeremiah was not talking about Christmas trees. He was writing hundreds of years before Christmas became a celebration. He was pointing out the idolatry of the people of that day and, like Tertullian, was warning against the idolatry of those who put their hope in earthly gods and things. The Christmas tree was not recognised as a use of Christmas celebration until the time of the Reformation, in Germany, but even then Christians were not worshipping their trees. Evergreens are a near-universal symbol of hope and Christmas trees are merely a reminder of Christ and how darkness was defeated through him.

It shouldn’t matter if it’s not called a Christmas tree, if the passages sounds very similar to the tree. Then its wiser to stay away from it.

@@tan1591 The Christian author, Tertullian, wrote as early as A.D. 190-220 that Christians hang more “wreaths and laurels” than the pagans. He ends with (talking about Jesus) “You are a light of the world, and a tree ever green". The early Christians, many of whom knew Christ or their parents or grandparents did, were not afraid of evergreens as decor - it is nothing else - just decor, helping to remind us of Jesus' birth and the everlasting life he came to offer us.

While you have every second, day, year and month to celebrate his resurrection. Can you show me in scriptures why we can use a pagan originated holiday to celebrate Jesus brith? Or to even celebrate his birth? Instead “and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. Chances are he was born in a traditional troglodyte home. Animals were kept on ground level while the bedrooms were located upstairs. The bible lets us know he was born among animals: it's very likely it was because there were no room available, it just means he was in the lower part of a house (among animals).

Do you mean false leaders like him to put a stumbling block before you like Balaam taught Balak to do unto the sons of Israel? There is only one way to read Jeremiah 10 and it's the way that should result in you wanting to go on a christmas tree burning spree. NO PRIVATE INTERPRETATION OF SCRIPTURE!!! 2 Peter 1:20-21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but set apart men of Yahweh spoke as they were moved by the Ruach Kodesh (holy spirit). Exodus 34:13 "But break down their altars, and smash their pillars, and cut down their groves." Does it say anywhere here to make your house into a grove or does it say to cut down the Pagan groves?? Exodus 34:12-22 "Be careful of yourself, in case you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, to avoid the risk of it becoming a snare to you: but you shall destroy their altars, break their pillars and cut down their groves: because you shall worship no other mighty one, for Yahweh, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous El: in case you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they prostitute themselves for their mighty ones, and perform sacrifice to their mighty ones, and one of them calls you, and you eat of his sacrifice; and you take their daughters as wives for your sons, and their daughters prostitute themselves for their mighty ones, and make your sons prostitute themselves for their mighty ones. You shall not make yourself any molten idols. You shall keep the feast of unleavened bread. You shall eat unleavened bread for seven days as I commanded you, in the month of the Aviv: because it was in the month of Aviv that you came out of Egypt." In this passage, Yahweh tells us to not mix with the heathens because they might seduce us into following after false gods. Instead, he commands us to destroy the altars, idols and groves (of trees and plants carved into phallic symbols that represent their false fertility gods) they have made to worship their false gods with because Yahweh will not have any false gods in his face and we are to worship him alone. If we don't destroy their altars, we run the risk of letting them seduce us into their heathen practices. Yahweh then says a big fat NO to molten idols (like a golden calf or a metal star on top of your Ra's penis trees). He then tells us what we are actually supposed to celebrate: the feast of unleavened bread which is one of his seven feasts/moedim (appointed times). TLDR: Yahweh said don't celebrate Pagan unholy days, but make sure you observe my feasts. What do most professing believers do? They celebrate the Pagan filth and trample all over Yahweh's feasts. Deuteronomy 12:30-32 "Take heed to yourself that you don't become snared by following them, after they are destroyed before you; and that you don't enquire after their mighty ones (false gods), saying: 'how did these nations serve their mighty ones? I will serve mine in the same way that they served theirs.' You shall not do this to Yahweh your Elohim, because every abomination to Yahweh, that he hates, they have done to their mighty ones; they even burned their sons and daughters in the fire to their mighty ones. Whatever I command you, make sure that you do it: you shall not add to it or take away from it." I took this passage from the King James Version and then put the old English thees and thous into a modern vernacular. I also replaced "gods" (lower case g) for mighty ones and "the LORD thy God" for Yahweh your Elohim. Nothing has been added or subtracted, I've just made it easier to understand to a modern reader.

Joshua Hall:Why is Mike Winger a false teacher? Oh!!Because he sees no wrong in celebrating the Christian festival of Christmas. Have you not watched this video? Every reason that people like you bring up to oppose those Christians who want to celebrate Christmas is well and truly DEBUNKED. Mike Winger as you can hear (if you care to watch)as diligently done much research into how Christmas came about and he as found all the sort of tales you bring up are ALL MYTHS. All untrue. The early Church fathers wanted to put some time aside to celebrate and give thanks to God for doing such a loving thing as to send his Only Begotten Son to be the ransom sacrifice for the sins of mankind. They decided to have a a holiday (Holy-Days)and called it Christmas. They also knew that they could use this time of celebration to convert the pagans to commit to Christianity. They chose December 25th to do just that. As for Christmas trees being pagan as Mike shows you (if you watch) they definitely are not. Do you not know that the Holy Scriptures of God's words instructed the people of the time to decorate the Holy Temple with pine? It seems that pine trees are one of Our Heavenly Father's favourite trees. Of course Ido not agree with everything about the modern day Christmas. Santa Clause is given far too much attention from children and in fact should have nothing what so ever to do with Christmas. The over commercialism of the modern Christmas also doesn't sit well with me either. Christmas is the time to give thanks to God for giving us the GREATEST gift in the history of the Universe. The only time that a baby as been born spiritually on this planet is a joyous reason to sing your heart out and praise God with all of your might. It all comes down to this. If you want to celebrate Christmas then by all means do so. The Holy Word of God tells us "If you want to make days special then do it to THE GLORY OF GOD." Hannaka is a man made festival that isn't God given yet the Holy Word Of God tells us that Jesus Christ attended it. If you don't want to celebrate Christmas then don't that is your priority. However don't put down those who do want to join in the celebrations. You have a choice. Everyone as a choice. It is completely up to you which one you choose.

There is a very big difference between a decoration and an idol. It is apparent that there are some who can't make that distinction when comes to something as mundane as a tree. Funny....They will paint and adorn their walls with all manner of "decorations" and that is ok. But a tree, that is somehow an abomination.... WHAT? The meaning of a symbol comes only from the mind of those see it. A symbol has no intrinsic meaning of its own. Only that which we individually give it. Why would one impart a meaning of their own to an object found in my house. An object that may have a completely different meaning to me. Then turn around and accuse me of thanking about the object in the same way as they do. What make them think that I think the same about the object as they do? How could I possibly be responsible for their thoughts? What a Christmas tree may have meant to people one thousand years ago or even to you is irrelevant to what it means to me today. When I look a Christmas tree all I see is a decoration that reminds of all the sacrifices God has done for all of us. Like a beautiful sunset decorating the handy work of God's earth itself. The glory of the sunset reminds us of the one that made it.

Satan deceived Eve with "yea hath God said...?" He always come to cast doubt on God's commands and the consequences of breaking them. God said not to worship Him the way the pagans worship their god so I won't. Period. We are to worship God in spirit and in truth. We don't just do whatever we want and hold it up to a Holy God. We worship God according to the truth revealed in His Word. And I don't care if there's no source for trees being pagan, I'll air on the side of caution and spend that time and money by doing something for someone in need to honor my savior's birth. Besides we are told to remember His death not His birth. thru communion we proclaim and remember His death, and abide with Him. God called Abraham to leave his family, maybe it's not a good sign if we can't leave a family tradition for Him.

I don't condemn anyone for having a tree, but I don't condone it either. And not because of Jeremiah 10 but because if I just used the scriptures for shaping my faith and practice, I would have never come up with decorating a tree for Him from scripture. God was very detailed with how He wants to be worshipped in scripture and a deviation from this was and still is flat out evil. We are to worship Him in spirit and in truth. His Word is truth and is where we find out how He wants to be worshipped. Cutting and decorating a tree is never suggested in how we celebrate Him. And there is more scripture to support NOT doing this. Last Christmas I learned about the pagan elements in our celebration and I was taking an honest look at my tree and realized that thing was more for me, and if I'm not willing to give it up for Him then who am I really seeking to celebrate at Christmas; my lust of the eyes because I want a pretty tree or my Savior who payed in His body and blood for every transgression of the law; which included worshipping God in pagan ways. Like Jesus took my sins seriously in the Garden of Gethsemane in thinking of what He would go thru, sweating drops of blood, I will take a serious look at my Christmas traditions and air on the side of caution and cut out what I'm not 100% certain is acceptable to Him! We will stand before Him and I'd rather Him say you were a little too serious about things then hear Him say you weren't serious enough. Selah

Hi Mike! I see the date..... what does Christmas mean to me 4reals? I was thinking about this and how many people would get truly offended by my real answer when.....voila! You just said what I think! I enjoy all the glitter and twinkle of the commercial stuff and have fun with it! I truly enjoy getting together with people and giving gifts to those who mean a lot to me as a kind of thank you. Its all very superficial and has no religious meaning. I spend some time reading The Christmas Stories and the gift God gave us, but that's private and brief. Why? Because I have a DAILY relationship with God! All the traditions are fun, but there is no longer a spiritual need to focus on the "True Meaning of Christmas" in my life because of my daily walk with Him! There was no conscious decision to separate the two. It just sort of happened as my relationship became an all day thing! Once again, this year will be about friends and family and having fun. The only religious nod to Christmas will be one or two days of reading about Christ's birth, but I'm SOOOOOO grateful for being forgiven of my ALL of my sins and the things He's done in my life every day that a special day set aside is just redundant. I hope everybody reaches this point of their spiritual lives! God has changed me so much over the years that I can't help but be grateful every day! I should have turned out a LOT different than I am! God Bless!

I appreciate your videos on Christmas, but you didn’t give any evidence to disassociate the pagan celebration of the ancient Roman sun god, Sol Invictus, on Dec. 25. Research Sol Invictus and the ancient festival “Natalis Invicti”, which is documented as being on December 25 in the Chronograph of 354, an ancient calendar (also known as Calendar of Filocalus). A more researched and honest response to all of this would be to show that there was indeed the pagan celebration of their sun god on December 25, and the Christians chose to squelch the pagan festivals with the Christian celebration of Christ being born. All that said, the Christmas tree and decorations, including the pentagram star on top, and the angel holding lights at the top (Lucifer is considered to be the light-bearer, a fallen angel), you have to admit there are quite a bit of coincidences that put the Christmas traditions in question of their original origins. I spent a lot of time researching ancient festivals in the pagan world (during my search for truth in leaving the Catholic Church), and there are many pagan traditions that involve decorating pine trees with apples, and lights in celebration of the winter solstice, the pagan significance of the Yule log, the pagan myth of the mistletoe, and the celebration of the coming of the sun, their sun god, on 12/25. To deny that many traditions we do in fun has pagan origins is actually untrue. Research into this more, please. I am a born-again Christian, who once was a devout Catholic, who used to go-to-town decorating my house with lights and Christmas decorations to the hilt. Now that I have researched the origins, and converted to Christianity, doing those things don’t bring me joy as they once did, because I realize my own motivations were all very secular and materialistic in essence, even though I tried to tie in Jesus’ birthday in vain. Yes, the lights and decorations are very pretty - but have you ever thought to yourself “Why do so many people love Christmas everywhere, when most of them are not Christian, in fact many are even agnostic or atheist?...They have the same Christmas trees and decorations as I do, and they do the same traditions as me and my family... yet they are not Christian.... so how am I set apart from those on the wide path when I’m celebrating in a way that they are, which is of the world, not of God? “. Didn’t God warn His people not to imitate the ways of the foreigners? He hated their pagan practices. And since we can historically connect many Christmas traditions with ancient pagan ones, shouldn’t we at least dialogue on this more, rather than putting concerned Christian questioners of it in the same camp as the zeitgeist followers? I thought that was an unfair and unrelated comparison. This is just my take after lots of prayer- The time and money I used to spend in Christmas decorating etc. does not carry the same meaning to me once I learned the history, and I would much rather delve into scripture, and do things that bring glory to God. I just think it’s something all Christians should learn about fairly, so they can discern for themselves what these traditions mean to them.

@@PianoDisneygal10 Yes, but that’s why I did research on ancient pagan festivals so I could do more than just assume or guess. If you research ancient winter solstice traditions, Yule, saturnalia, etc you will see various traditions they did back then, that have been assimilated into modern traditions that we associate with Christmas. I’m not saying we shouldn’t do these things as Christians, but I do think we should set ourselves apart in ways we celebrate, else we are celebrating just like secular non-believers all over the world who put more time into decorating and shopping than in worship to our God and Messiah. I guess when I became a Christian (from Catholicism), I realized I may have felt like I was putting Christ first in Christmas, but in hindsight I spent SO much time on the secular traditions that have nothing to do with Christ. Now, I spend more time reading scripture and helping others, with nominal attention on the secular traditions. I’m not by any means perfected or more righteous than other believers, but the renewal of my mind in Christ discerns how to better spend my time and attention.

@@shadow_ow2 I think you did not listen to the video. 🙁 Jeremiah 10 is obviously about cutting down a tree to carve an idol and overlay it with gold or silver and worship it. Where are you getting your interpretation from? One big mistake you are making in your quoting of scripture, is that you are taking commands specifically to Israel and trying to apply them to Gentile Christians today. The feast of unleavened bread was Israel's commemoration of the Passover. Gentiles were not part of Israel or that particular event. Obviously we are not to make idols of wood, gold, and silver, because we are to worship God only. 😁👍👍 That's God's moral law that applies to the whole world.

Matthew 2:2 If the magi were in the east and they saw a star in the east(ern sky). Would they not have stuck out heading WEST? This tripped me up for about 15 minutes a couple of years ago. The explanation I have been given is that the actual meaning of what the magi said when they described the star and its position in the sky was that they were describing THEIR location when they saw the star and not the position of the actual star i.e. "We saw this star while we were in the east." Is that reasonable?

We may not know the exact date, but we can’t use sheep as the gotcha proof that it wasn’t December.

There's a Wikipedia article, it was kinda hard to find lol, but it goes into detail on why the December 25th was chosen, and the main reason is because they believe Jesus was conceived on the Spring Equinox. It's really an educated guess, but I believe the first mention of a December 25th date was wayy back in the second century. There's many other reasons it was chosen as well, it doesn't seem like it is 100%, but there's a strong case for December 25th

Pastor Mike, I have only been saved for 7 years but immediately, in the first 2 years, without any pastors telling me something was wrong on this, I was convicted to look into specifically the origins of Christmas, Easter and Halloween. My sister is a pagan witch and historically these holidays have nothing to do with Jesus. They are Babylonian (Pagan) celebrations. I don't doubt that you have done your share of research but I don't see how you could not have found historical evidence of the practices.....of coarse, now days, the internet isn't the most reliable source and that's what I use. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I greatly respect you Mike and your videos and recommend you often though I find that I do not necessarily aggree sometimes... Biblically thinking and looking to scripture: Did our Savior celebrate these holidays? Are these holidays historically celebrated by the followers of Jesus? Are they in the Bible? I know in the KJV, Easter was mentioned but that was mentioned that it was around the time Herod (or the Romans) was celebrating "Easter". Other translations say "Passover" which is still also accurate since Passover and Easter occur at the same time and the Jewish people would be celebrating that. Romans 14 is what I go by and don't look down on those people who do celebrate these holidays. With all of that said, I cannot see why any believer would want to celebrate these holidays and not celebrate God's Holy Appointed Days that Jesus Himself celebrated and fulfilled. Also, that the followers of Jesus celebrated and cherish. *DISCLAIMER: I grew up my whole life loving and enjoying these holidays. I never had any Christian influence until my late teens and even then, these holidays were still kept until Jesus saved me in my mid 20s.

"He had no beauty that we should desire Him," is not necessarily referring to His natural appearance. It's talking about the *crucifixion.* Jesus was beaten so badly that His face was *disfigured.* That's not a reference as to whether He could sing or not!!! 😟😟 Also, a manger is a *feed trough* not a "stable" or barn. Houses had a raised platform for the family, and the animals were housed on the lower level. Perhaps Joseph and Mary were just in the area where the animals were kept, not in a cave or separate outbuilding.

The idea that Christmas is ‘pagan’ actually comes from die-hard Protestant fundamentalists in the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth centuries. In those centuries, many Protestants regarded holidays like Christmas and Easter as “Popery” and therefore sought to discredit them by linking them with ancient paganism. The idea that Christmas might be pagan was advanced as early as 1648 in the work Certain Queries Touching the Rise and Observation of Christmas, written by the Puritan Joseph Heming. Later fundamentalist writers took the idea and ran with it. One particularly influential writer was Alexander Hislop (1807-1865), a minister for the Free Church of Scotland who published a pamphlet in 1853 titled The Two Babylons. In this pamphlet, Hislop claimed that Roman Catholicism is really nothing more than re-branded Babylonian paganism and that all the holidays associated with Catholicism are actually ancient Babylonian religious festivals in honor of the heathen gods. Hislop was a zealot, vehemently anti-Catholic, and a crank whose ideas had almost no factual basis whatsoever, but his work became extremely influential among Protestant fundamentalists. It is from Hislop that the concept of Christmas as the “birthday of Tammuz” derives. [Some of the above comes from an article published 8.DEC.21 by D. Armstrong] The above said, there is no denying that some traditions and customs surrounding Christmas are derived from pre-Christian beliefs and practices; the tree (a Germanic tradition), the “plant” traditions - holly, ivy, mistletoe (from the Celts). Indeed, many of our present-day customs and traditions, from the days of the week to the candles you blow out on your birthday cake, have pre-Christian antecedents; but no one really seems to complain about those. In fact, I’d be willing to bet that very few people are even remotely aware of them. Quite frankly, whether one wishes to acknowledge it or not, the “pagan-ness” has been effectively ‘bread out’ of these Christmas traditions for well over 1,000 years now. They have, for all intents and purposes, become completely Christianized. Like other pre-Christian customs and traditions that have become part of our culture, it’s time for some to get over it. The conception that Christmas had pagan foundations started to be viral in the 17th century with the English Puritans and Scottish Presbyterians, who abhorred all Catholic things. They detested the feast days, specifically the Christmas feast with its joyous observances, celebrations and customs. Given that the Bible did not provide specific date of Jesus’ birth, the Puritans contended that it was a sinful device of the Roman Catholic Church that should be eliminated. Subsequently, Protestant preachers like the German Paul Ernst Jablonski attempted to establish unverifiable works that December 25 was actually a pagan Roman feast, and dissuaded that Christmas was yet another example of how the medieval Catholic Church ‘paganized’ and corrupted ‘pure’ early Christianity.😎😎

Mike. Another excellent video! Thank you. Somewhere around minute 31 when you are talking about the inn keeper you ask the question "why would God put Jesus in a manger?" When you are talking about the manger it sounds like you think that a manger is a stable or a cave where they keep the animals? A manger is actually a feeding trough for the animals. It's where they put the food for the sheep. So, Why would God put His Son where you put the food for the sheep? might be a better question. (John 6:53-57) Makes you think, Yes?

Selah

Does anyone who uses a tree put an ornament of Jesus or the Cross on the top of their Christmas tree? If not, why not? That would honor Jesus more would it not? Do you really think that the star on the top originally represented the star of Bethlehem? Is it not just as, if not more likely, a practice originally connected to astrology and the pagan worship of the sun, moon, and stars for thousands of years? Or what about the angel on the top. Where did that come from? Certainly there’s no angel that would want to be worshipped by humans...other than the great enemy of the Church that is. And ever ask why we put the gifts under the tree? Is it a coincidence that you have to kneel down on your knees, face down, to reach? Picture it. I think it’s weird to say that the tree is “not pagan.” If you want to argue that it’s innocent - fine - but not pagan? By definition it is pagan. Saying it’s not pagan is like saying it’s not secular. It is. If people from any religious belief can do it then it’s pagan! At worst it’s satanic, at best it’s pagan or secular but perhaps with a Christian “twist” added to it. If we really wanted to be wholly devoted to Jesus at Christmas, and actually believe that HE should be at the CENTER of all of the festivities then we wouldn’t have a Christmas tree. We would have the nativity scene in our living room and put presents around that. THAT would be a good tradition to start!!!
@histguy101

The first lit Christmas tree was erected by Martin Luther during the Reformation. The star came later. This was a milennia after paganism had died out in Europe, and 1500 years after the time of Christ. No, the tree is not pagan. It is Christian, particularly protestant Christian. Some Catholics eventually adopted the Christmas tree, but only after frowning on the practice for a long time due to its Lutheran connotations. The tree has no connections to any ancient worship. If you were able to actually find some ancient culture that erected pine trees in their homes(good luck), even then, that wouldn't change anything about the Christmas tree being an entirely Christian novelty of the reformation. For instance, there was a certain German tribe that was alleged to worship an oak tree(or many oak trees?) but they wouldn't cut them down, nor were they associated with anything like a Christmas holiday, the season, etc.

Rob Cottrell Within Judaism there was a tradition that prophets died on the same date on which they were conceived. Jesus was thought to have died on 14 Nisan according to the Jewish calendar. That's March 25, which is celebrated in various Christian liturgical calendars as the Feast of the Annunciation to this day - the feast of the conception of Jesus. March 25 was also thought to be the date of the Creation of the World. So if, according to this theological calculation, Jesus was conceived on March 25, when was he born? The obvious answer is nine months later: on December 25. And it's this date that we find recurring in the early Christian writings on the subject, many of which were long before the fourth century and any period in which Christianity was trying to absorb and adopt pagan festivals. Theophilus of Caesarea (115-181 AD) wrote that "we ought to celebrate the birth-day of our Lord" on December 25. Origen (153-217 AD) noted "there are those who have determined not only the year of our Lord's birth, but also the day .... the twenty-fifth day of Pachon". Hippolytus of Rome (170-240 AD) also gives the date as "eight days before the calends of January (December 25). Of course, there were a variety of dates proposed for the birth of Jesus in early Patristic writings, ranging from April 19 or May 20 (referred to and dismissed by Clement of Alexandria - 150-215 AD) to November 17 (Clement's own calculation) or March 28 (found in De Pascha Computus of 243 AD) or perhaps April 2 (Hippolytos - 170-235 AD). But it was December 25 that eventually predominated; at first in Rome and then elsewhere in the Empire. The same Calendar of Philocalus that mentions the games of the "unconquered one" on December 25 also mentions in another section that "VIII kal. Ian. natus Christus in Betleem Iudeae" ("the Christ was born in Bethlehem in Judea on the 25th of December"). This reference, in 354 AD, is the first one made to this as an annual date for the celebration of Jesus' birth. Not long afterwards the then Bishop of Rome declared this date the official one for the celebration of Jesus' birth in his diocese. So what is the origin of the date? Given that the calculation of December 25 from the conception/death date of March 25 predates any need to co-opt pagan festivals by about 200 years, it is most likely that this is the original reason this date was one of five that were considered and argued for by early Christians. It's possible that if there was a feast of the nativity of Sol Invictus on the same date, it's therefore plausible this affected the final selection of this date over the others; though it could also be pure co-incidence. And while the festivities clearly took on many of the customs and trappings of Saturnalia, that feast is not the reason for selecting this date, given it ended earlier on December 23. What is clear, however, is that there is absolutely no evidence linking December 25 to Mithras. Given that the claims about a "virgin birth" for that god are garbled nonsense and the stuff about shepherds and caves are total garbage, the fact that these things keep getting repeated uncritically by New Atheists is more evidence that people who are supposed to be "rationalists" simply don't check their facts when it comes to history. The idea that the date and other elements of Christmas are all derived from paganism is cute, but not sustainable historically. Neat little internet meme "gotchas" may be fun, but those of us who try to be rational and objective should be wary of them in the extreme. Critics of Christmas should do their homework.

John 3:16 those who are lost really do not get it anymore than they get what the significance of the Birth of Jesus the Christ. We can not truly expect them to mind you. John 3:16 is not really a verse that should be preached to unbelievers. it is like throwing pearls to swine. Jesus preached the Kingdom and repentance. Jesus came to give us the Kingdom. God restored us to where we were before the fall. Jesus has made us clean vessels to receive God the Holy Spirit. The Birth of Christ is something to celebrate. The death and resurrection as well and Pentecost. Why do we celebrate the Birth of Jesus? because God came directly to intervene in Man's affairs on Earth setting us free from the curse of death and Sin. For these are all part of the plan of God to restore the proper relationship between man and God. Man's Dominion on Earth under the partnership and Kingship of Jesus our Lord.

Christmas is altogether worthless if you spend more time dressing a tree and buying more luxuries for each other and doing nothing for Jesus. So even if this isn't pagan, it's worthless if it's void of Jesus. And even so, the things you do for Jesus in one day should be a daily sacrifice not one day. It falls under worthless festivals and feasts in my opinion.

What about Yule? That was a pagan tradition that used the trees and apples as ornaments and wreaths to dress the tree and we appear to have gotten our tradition from this. Just saying, this is actually historically known to be an adaptation of paganism into the Christian tradition that happened in Norway towards the end of the first millennium AD. The tradition itself predates this and appears to have been implanted into Germany from the same tradition spoken of in Jeremiah. Secondly the cult of Sol Invictus and the December 25 celebration were established prior to the end of the 3rd century in Rome. This is historical Mike, how are you missing this stuff in your research? People rely on you for good information, and unfortunately I think you came in with a preconceived opinion and tried to get that opinion back out on this one. The Christmas celebration on December 25 was first enacted following the death of Pope Mark(technically called Bishop of Rome in his own lifetime) in October 336 AD and prior to the ordination of Pope Julius I in 337 AD. Thus the first December 25 Christmas date was held on 12/25/336 and this is about 50 years after the first December 25 Sol Invictus. I like you Mike, but I think you fumbled this one, GOD Bless 🙏🏼

God created "Christmas" trees, so do what you want if you like the smell of the tree, and decoration of the tree...(just don't worship or attribute anything to the tree.) It has somehow become a customary celebration throughout time, and if you want to partake go for it just as long as you most importantly understand that Jesus Christ is Lord and to him you owe your allegiance/worship and not to anyone or anything else. Amen.

Well, I always try to go by this: Is origins and past use may have been 'a' , but if it's present use is 'b', then there is no 'a', only 'b'. The original use of the 'Christmas Tree' , vary's from being decorated because Osiris' body was encased in a tree which, because it had the body in it, never lost its green-ness. And there is also, the viking or Scandinavian tradition of lighting an evergreen or fir tree on fire. HOWEVER, those traditions were to praise and worship their false gods. But WE, don't worship anyone by having the tree, or at least, that's not the primary purpose. Like December 25th. Its supposed to be Osiris' birthday (who also happened to have a virgin birth), and many other pagan festivals, BUT, we're not celebrating THOSE festivals. Nor are we saying that Jesus was most definitely born in this day, rather, we just use this day to remember and celebrate His birth. Someone could be born on the 29th of February, but their birthday could be celebrated on the 28th of February or 1st of March, or ANY OTHER day on the calendar.
@Hearth123
@Hearth123 2 года назад
Osiris wasn't born on December 25th and he wasn't born of a virgin. His father was Geb the god of the earth and his mother was Nut goddess of the sky. You're probably referring to Horus, but he wasn't born on Dec 25th or of a virgin either. His father was Osiris and his mother was Isis.

Highly unintelligent and unresearched statement. Please don’t spread lies, it’s unchristian. No, the shepherds came to town in the winters and barn raised their lambs at those times of the year. The story of Christ’s birth specifically tells us that by the location of the shepherds at that time that it was likely fall or early spring as they were near enough to town to come back and worship the baby Christ that same night. If it had been December 25 they would have already been in town. Don’t spread Rome’s lies, Rome is the Antichrist and Mike played their fiddle in this video. He should be ashamed but his mentor was Illuminati so it’s not that surprising that he takes these false opinions
