About myth 2: THANK YOU!!!! As a Chemist I can't stand people talking about "chemical free" and don't even start me with the whole "organic" stuff. Every compound with Carbon it's organic, that's the very definition of Organic Chemistry (which was my line of work).
Customer: Is it 100% ORGANIIIIIC??? Me: Yes, we still don' t import products from other civilizations/galaxies non-carbon based. Customer: 😳 wtf? Me: 😌 Won' t be surprised if one day I' m fired🤦🏻♀️
your son coming in with just the purest heart and singing for you !!!! oh gosh.. i want to be a mom so badly. How sweet and lovely your family seems Dr. Idriss
@@surlespasdondine was only hoping for him to continue his performance from the sidelines...he wasn't in the frame when he was singing...it was so adorable oh my lord.
Im so glad I found this channel. I realized how much I don't know about skincare. I still have to watch a lot of videos from you but from information all the way to being authentic in your discussions and being yourself is golden here. Much appreciated
The best video that the world needs to watch and understand the information! I m so sick of all the claims that companies make these days and people are falling for it and making a big deal out of them
great video, and thank you for recommending Matcha tea. My friend from Tokyo gave me matcha sachets as a present and they are a life saver anytime I feel down. The called it Match to Go, because you put the content of the sachet in your water bottle, pour hot water from the kettle and shake it, instead of using the traditional bamboo whisker. Matcha is the best present anyone can give you. Have a lovely day!
Loooved the take on non-chemical. Bravo!!! And I understand the dilema small brands face with parabens. Your take on it seems very reasonable to me. I do however have a slightly different take on the scent issue. Yes, of course, it's only harmful if your skin is sensitive to fragrance. But I think it can also make the experience less enjoyable. For one, you might just not like it. Fresh have a wonderful cleanser that is cucumber scented. It made me gag every time I used it. I loved the product but couldn't get over the scent and never repurchased it. Also, even if it's a scent you love... if you have a cucumber scented wash, a rose scented moisturiser, a strawberry scented lipoil, a coconut shampoo... and a vanilla perfume, it's pretty overkill. So my guess is, many of us buy some scented products we love to use among non-scented or very lightly scented ones to avoid the tropicana coctail :)
Thank you for all your very trustworthy -informative info on skin! Things that my dermatologist doesn’t go into detail and tell me. Anyways can we see a video about LED red light therapy , does that really help with skin as well?!
It says that the products you were talking about in this video are listed here: but there’s no list! Would be great if you could put it in. Thanks for all you do
Hello from the UK Dr Idriss! I love love love your videos, so educational and fun! And your children are adorable.Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the World! I wonder what is your input on using skincare and make up products that passed their expiration date ? I’m looking forward to more videos from you. All the best! Magda
Awww... cute tiny tots 😍 reminds me of my boys when they were that age. The time, it goes fast, doesn't seem like it when you're in it lol but, it does. Mine are 26 n 23. Enjoy them cause I miss all of it. Thanks for the skin tips. I am in my 50's and was diagnosed with adult rosacea a few years back. It's pretty mild now, but back when it first appeared was a bit more on the right side of my face, cheek area and spots on my forehead. I use the calming dermecologica line, but they've stopped making a few of their products that I used for some years now and now kinda lost on what to do. The products worked for me. The rosacea is pretty under control... tips for another skin care lune?
Your fave Aveeno Calm & Restore face cleanser is using parabens-free in its ads. I hear you about not being able to fight misinformation, but Aveeno is old and J&J is older. They know better. The ad claims that it's better for sensitive skin because it has no parabens. Even when my skin is especially sensitized parabens don't bother it. Phenoxyethanol can but it's what commonly replaced parabens. I had to temporarily delete stop using the LRP Cica Balm because of it. It's in almost everything. I have fragrance sensitivities (MCS/IEI), and if I ever became a Daenerys I would ban you all from using it in anything forever.
I am new to your channel, and am so inspired by your discourse. Forgive me if you've already done a video on the damage computers could do to skin and what should be done to mitigate this. There are all kinds of recommendations for products that claim they can help with this. But this is a case for your type of expertise. If you have not done a video, would you consider doing one? The google searches I accessed, said blue light emitted from pc can age & damage our skin. Wishing you much happiness & continued success.
I know green tea extract is great antioxidant but I find paper say that 3% of polyphenols in emulsion form help reducing sebum. Is that true? If I need to reduce oilyness on my face I have to find green tea extract in Emulsion only?
angel dust! lol hahaaha your boy! Mon Chou🥰 just that " you make me happy" oh my heart! savor that moment with him for you will crave it when the empty nest hits you across the face. i am pea green with envy because my boys are now men! such a sweet time of life♡
I just love you what a bomb brain you have😀. I have one question can you please give me a review on zo skin is it worth buying(though i have bought it :(
Question about those hydrocolloid patches: how do they work/what’s their benefit? I also wear them because it keeps me from touching my pimples but I’m wondering if there’s something else to them!
This is helpful! Cetaphil recently changed their formula and it is disgusting and bothers my sensitive skin. Is there another affordable product you recommend?
I LOVE all of Ceramedx's products as dupes for Cetaphil and CeraV. I personally buy them because they are cruelty free (Cetaphil and CeraV are not), but all of their products have been great for my acne and eczema prone dry skin. It might be worth comparing the ingredients to what you've been using and trying them out.
YESSS NUMBER TWO !!! im so sick of people saying chemical sunscreen is toxic just bc the word chemical is in it😭😭😭 the amount of people i’ve had to argue with over it
Omg those two happy rays of sunshine walking into your room 🌞! and the happy song and kisses are just everything !!! Happy weekend! From one mom to another 💕
Thank you for your videos Dr. Idriss. Also l love matcha too, but coffe its not bad rigth? I drink it too. Could you do a video about antioxidants aside from vitamin C? It irritates my skin. What do you think about pycnogenol, revevastrol or EUK 134 or any other ant ioxidant?? Thank you very veeeeryyyy much!!
I can’t put vitamin c on my face due to irritation from rosacea so I use a green tea antioxidant with reservatrol. It’s from Dr. Bailey’s line and it is expensive but it’s the only one I can tolerate. It’s reduced the redness and melasma but then I also put a gram of sulfur crystals in my coffee and take it with grape seed extract, oral vitamin c capsule and 50mg of vitamin e too. In five months my bright red face is now a light pink. I tried the prescription stuff for rosacea for a year and it didn’t help.
@@jenniferpetty5238 thank your for your comment, i use revevastrol from The Ordinary but someone said it works better if you put it the nigth before and now im confused, thats why i asked dr. Idriss for help. Also i read pycnogenol its the best antioxidant ever found but no dermatologist ever speaks about it so im very curios why. I will also check the vitamins you take to see if i can incorporate them too ;)
Chemical free?! Lololol...between hearing that and the whole "clean skincare"..it's enough to drive a person nuts. Great video, and I love your earrings!! :)
Love all of these, but especially “more doesn’t equal better” and “chemicals aren’t bad”… I just wish there were more people spreading these messages!!
I’d love for you to make a video that includes cruelty free options and swaps for those of us who prefer to buy cruelty free. Also, if there are cruelty free myths, fill us in. 😊
I’m an animal lover also Callie! I hate animal testing. PETA always sending me horrible pictures of cats, dogs, rabbits etc. I got so sick and upset after opening one of their letters to me, I couldn’t go to work. I am a registered nurse not that this makes a difference. These tests are repetitive and inconclusive most of time. Also our tax dollars fund some of this testing. My house is loaded with rescue pets. I love every one of them! at 72 yrs old I can’t do much more!😊
Cutest babies! You handled their adorable interruptions beautifully- AND you were still coherent in your explanations! When my kids (now teens) interrupt me, it’s like I lose half my brain. 😂
I love this video, I got totally sucked into the chemical free, toxic free movement a couple of years ago and my skin was at its worst. I now have repaired my skin thanks to doctors like you! Your son is adorable and I love Pique tea!
Love, love the part about vaseline! As a geologist and engineer, crude oil is actually "all natural"! (Arsenic, lead, mercury are "all natural", too. Personally I will take paraben over any of those)! 😆😆😆
I love this tea! It’s one of the only ones tested for mycotoxins that I can get here in the states. I have mold illness and most teas / coffees contain mold.
Bonjour! ☺️❤
Hello! I’m a new subscriber, I’ve been binge watching all of your videos. I’m a 40 year old that never took care of my skin.. starting now and love all that I’ve learned from you! Thank you!
This might be a silly question, but are all fragrances in skincare products equally as irritating? I'm prone to sensitive skin, but i do love fragrance because it just adds to the sensorial experience.
Every single ingredient could be irritating to specific people, including fragrances. If you are not sensitive to it then enjoy it. The only way to know if it is for you or not is testing products.
I know this one! Synthetic fragrance (usually listed as just 'fragrance' I think) is usually less irritating than essential oils like citrus oil and ingredients like linalool and limonene. It's interesting to hear her perspective on fragrance but every other derm I've listened to (including my own) says it should be avoided due to the possibility of long-term sensitizing... But if I were to use fragrance in skincare I'd definitely stick to synthetic, since it's usually formulated with skin in mind.
As a person with sensitive skin, I feel like a brand is saying "I'm not for you" or "I don't care about sensitive skin" if they don't offer any fragrance free options. Are there fragranced products that I have successfully used? Of course but in Australia not everything is a tester and not everything can be returned once opened so I don't really want to gamble with my money like that, especially now that I am using more actives in my routine. I don't want to feel like I'm playing with fire basically.
I'm with you, my skin developed perioral dermatitis and adult acne and fragrance was one of the culprits, as was heavy creams. I now trust fragrance free but its damn hard to find in Australia.... I have been buying from iHerb. Id only just discovered one Aussie product by Natio, gentle lotion.
Thank you for explaining the difference between fragrance free and unscented! I always wondered about this. My philosophy on health is to reduce as many negatives as possible and include as many positives as possible, without stressing about it if it’s not perfect. Because I think there is a threshold of how many “toxins” or free radicals or stressors or whatever that’s bad for your body to handle before it starts to develop diseases. Of course sometimes you can’t prevent diseases, but a lot of times you can. I still think it’s sketchy that parabens build up in tissue, there must be a threshold of how much parabens the body can take before it starts to cause a disfunction. So I try to stay away from parabens as much as possible, but if the best product for my skin has parabens in it, I’m not going to stress about it. Because in that situation the positives outweigh the negatives and stressing about it would only make my whole philosophy moot, because stress is the worst! lol.
Okay but the thing is, parabens are removed from the body in 36 hours after being broken down by certain enzymes in the skin, they are even produced in the body by breakdown of amino acids. They are even found in fruits and vegetables if a person wanted to avoid parabens, they'd have to stop eating those fruits and vegetables which contain them. So I feel like if you are trying to 100% avoid parabens, its stupid. If its gonna get removed from the body and its even found in what you eat, there's no reason to avoid it unless you actually have any other problems with it which is a rare occurrence. The amount its used in products is super low, its not enough to really cause an issue, so even if you have multiple products with parabens or sources of them, you'd have to have them in a humongous amount to actually show some sort of effect. They really are super effective as a preservative and one of the most researched one as well.
A beautiful mind ,a gracious soul and THE BEST sense of humor so willing to share her expertise with all of us ! Darling children 👦 👧the added bonus . So grateful for you !
No. 2!!! ❤ I’ve been mentioning to my friend who is into a “holistic wellness” stuff that I washed my face using dihydrogen monoxide and she was shocked 😂
I really love seeing your kids in your videos, kuddos for balancing motherhood, work and business , youtube and all these social media platforms... love you and excited for the upcoming release
Thank you so much for teaching us the right ways…. I’ve learned so much thru you and I learned to not spend money like a freak on the wrong stuff. I’m on my 30s (32🙏) and feeling greater than ever!! Once again thank you and proud to be part of this channel!!! I recommend you to everyone 😊😊😬😬 I hope one day I can go to your place in the city 💕💕💕💕 🇨🇴🗽🇺🇸 🌞💕
I think when people say chemcal-free, what they mean is free of synthetic chemicals. And brands just go with that term to advertise their products. I personally don't care if a product is synthetic as long as it has a good safety track record
Next time someone asks if you have any chemical free products just be like “yes” and then present them with this vacuum/ void in space time and let them get sucked into it forever so they’ll stop being so annoying
Always look forward to your videos and appreciate the consistency. Congrats on 300K 🎉 There are a lot of smaller brands driven by science that use parabens such as Stratia. I think it’s great and wish parabens, petrolatum, mineral oil, silicones etc were used more often as they are most effective! We will have nothing left if people keep demonising ingredients.
While I agree about her debunk, a lot of fragranced products just smell horribly. And I like the kind of basic scent of unscented ones. I agree about the plastic smell though.
and people with sensitive skin and rosacea exist and i remember a time were i couldnt find any product for my skin an now i have some choices and i am sure i am not the only one
Your debunking fragrance did not settle my concerns at all. You didn't address the fact that the single word "fragrance" in an ingredient list can represent hundreds of ingredients that brands don't have to disclose for "brand secrets" reasons so we really don't know what is in a product with fragrance in it. There is also plenty of evidence proving that many ingredients typically found in fragrance are endocrine disruptors, which mimick and disturb our hormones and wreak all kinds of havoc in our bodies. These are my main reasons for avoiding synthetic fragrance. I would love to hear your thoughts about them.
Your son has lovely eyelashes (why does that always happen with boys?)… which leads me to a request… can you cuss-and-discuss how we can make eyelashes all long and fluttery? From Latisse to false to extensions?
1:08 ingredient percentage (more is not better) 3:30 chemicals aren't bad for your skin 7:50 parabens aren't bad for your skin 12:11 fragrance-free and unscented are two different things 13:39 fragrance isn't the devil 14:55 mineral oil and vaseline isn't to be feared
Love, love, love #5. I am not sensitive to fragrance, fragrance is not the devil. Just because a product has fragrance does not mean it’s the devil for all of us. Stop the madness! .
yessss, love when people cite their sources AND when they look at multiple sources!! teach them how science, and any kind of information-sharing, is done!
My dermatologist in Europe refused to prescribe me Hydroquinone because she claimed it caused cancer. When I said in the U.S. it isn't as demonized she said: "Well good thing we can learn from their mistake" 🙄🙄🙄
