Philippe Edenville and breadcrumbs are some favorites. I go to novels or poems for the really juicy writing, but some rappers that I think are really good at arranging images are aesop rock, clipping, and MF doom. I’d call out outkast, Open mike eagle, kendrick, jpegmafia, mach hommy, STORMZY, john wayne, or big krit for having (or inventing) so many different writing tools and tricks. But ofc every musician is poetic and has something worth appreciating
@@obrey__ Tysm for your answer! I'll search these rappers! I already knew Breadcrumbs but Edenville is amazing! Another question if you don't mind: what kind of poetry do you read? Cause I don't really like classical poetry like Beaudelaire and Victor Hugo (though I like his novels) but I've been interested in more modern poetry, like spoken-word poetry, so if you have some modern poetry to suggest go ahead (it's ok if you don't have any suggestions tho)
In terms of sound design, I think The Ocean is the defining point in Deca's career. Compare with The Veil. Great beats, yet somebody else could have done it. From The Ocean onward, the beats have a certain soothing quality I haven't found anywhere else. If you are talking about rhyme schemes and flows, I can see your point. Deca's patterns are not revolutionary. He relies a lot (systematically) on multisyllabic rhymes and that makes his style predictable and a bit robotic. Breaking the symmetry at times can be refreshing. Andre 3000's verse in Rosa Parks is a great example of that. When it comes to meaning and images, though, Deca is one of a kind. Is that what you had in mind? @@Rosco-P.Coldchain
Sometimes the RU-vid algorithm feeds me a really old song that wasn’t even popular but is amazing. Deca will be like this such that in 70 years kids will be looking at the music of the past and those willing to venture away from the top of the charts will find Deca and fall instantly in love. He doesn’t need to be revolutionary because he’s genuine. He’s just a man making art and there’s a certain beauty to that honest quality which is timeless and will be seen and valued by those who exist outside of the frame of our era.
My brother Deca is criminally slept on and is the dopest wordsmith in the game, hands down. Happy he made it out of Denver and went on to manifest his destiny.
Na na na Deca X E-Dubble though.... an underground marriage that should happen if it hasnt already.. edit: just found out E-dub passed away 4 years ago, which was just as i started studying at University - as i was inspired by artists like these absolute greats - to make something of myself.. can't state how grateful i am that these sorts of people share their forms of truth and continue to exist through their wisdom and artistry. Thank you Deca. Thank you and RIP to the Two Tone Rebel - E-Dubble. Peace and love to yol out there 🙏
