And people where not offered by everything and Karen’s and Dylan wasn’t a thing. And rent wasn’t a expensive. Like now a days. Most thing I grew up in the 2000s I remember the tail end of the 99s
Agreed! This was before RU-vid started..In order to Vlog daily during this era just to show to your family and friends must've took a lot of ambition. To record a video every now and then is one thing, but to do it daily when your only views are basically relatives and friends takes a lot of commitment. Plus you really have to love vlogging which I think Gilbert has a true passion for. Keep up the great work Gilbert.
Thank you is all I can say. Was born in the last 90’s so don’t remember all of this just foggy memories but still could feel how much better the times were back then and in the early 2000’s I can’t explain it.
I love how life was back then, even though I was not around to experience it. people were just different to how they are now. It’s nice to see that no one is on phones and actually spending Christmas as it should be.
14:57 Tile jobs back then were pretty colorful and reminds me of toy stores. The modern look for tile and similar flooring seems to be more about with blending the rest of the finishing together. What I mean by that, for example, schluter steel transitions for tile make it seem like the tile is no longer by itself or some sort of "cake" sticking out of the floor, wall or other surface. Lots of tile jobs seem like they were designed for toy stores at that time... haha I don't know how else to put it.
I just watched myself go into a time machine with this video. I was always wondered what life would be like before I was born. It just feels like life is so simple right here
I remember cargo shorts being cool and the baggier the better (though I'd have to wait for hand-me-downs) and I totally see why-virtually no one wore fitted jeans. Also cool to see overalls were still hanging on (at least 2 pairs in this video?). I was 7 in '99, good times. Thanks for capturing the time so well!
Believe me, there were cellphones, and cellphone commercials too. No smartphones though, just calling and sometimes texting. The closest thing to a smartphone was a PDA, which were very popular and sometimes even had internet access.
Man.. even though it was 23 years ago.. it somehow seems like yesterday.. so close yet so far away.. times goes wayyy too fast 😢 I loved the 90s/early 2000s
Oh gosh..cant we go back pleasee... Everything was so moderate and civilized. People were sort of humble and not as arrogant and self boasting. The clothing was so neat and moderate also. Even womens hair styles, 80's and 90's styles, women's fringes looked SO sweet. Gosh...I would give up my cellphone and all technology, can we just have the 90's again please.. 😪
woah! the I.E... im having a blast looking at all this!! i moved to Fontana in 1999 when i was only 7 years old! been here since. now i live by riverside and sanbernardino ave! i drive down the 10fwy towards redlands all the time... awesome videos man!
Time sure flies. I'm thinking back about where I was when this video was filmed, and I was in the middle of my freshman year of high school. And now this video looks to me like videos from the 60's and 70's used to look to me when I'd watch them years back.
I was 8 in 1999. I remember how themed everything was for the holidays. Back then, commercials, shows, movies, schools were all themed for the holidays, it was an amazing time to be a kid.
What's crazy is I remember where I was that week. Not a single person in that mall buried in a phone. no trans activists protesting. Nobody grabbing merchandise and running out the door. Just people living their lives. Life was just better. Weird to me to see trees with leaves and people in t-shirts around Christmas. Usually in the 30-20s here. Wish people now would serves their transmissions at 24k. That toyota would fit right in at a radwood show now
Omggggg I remember how the malls sounded, I was 2 when this video came out but around 5 years old my family was always at the mall from then on and I just remember walking and listening and thinking it just sounded like one giant man yelling constantly
This is something really interesting to watch in 2023. Especially the part in the mall. People walking around without phones in their hands is something that's pretty alien these days.
I get flashbacks during this current time that reminds me of my past as a child growing up in 99 to 00s feels like I’m in a paradox what’s strange about the past is it never happened
I’m so late but you watching the tv about cars being a death trap and then you automatically driving a car afterwards made me laugh. I was 11 during this time so Y2k was a big part of my childhood. Especially since my parents were doomsday preppers lol
Your video's are very interesting Gilbert I've been binge watching them like Netflix.Happy Holidays to you and your family.Look at the guy at 11:35 walk by with the fubu shirt lol.
I was 8 days old by the time Christmas Eve came around in 1999. It's really cool to see what life looked like back when I had just been born. My earliest memories are from 2004, but they're not super detailed. It's pretty cool to see how life was back when I had just started my life. I can't imagine how life was in the 90s and further past - seems like such a different world! (Although, I do remember growing up with no cell phone / tablets, old PS2 games, and having to use my imagination when playing outside or with toys.)
I was 10 in '99 and watching this makes me laugh because I remember in just a few days time I'd be seeing the effects of alcohol for the first time when me and my mate would steal my step father's grog while the street was celebrating news years eve haha.
What an era it was! 1999 and the millennium year, seem just like yesterday but more then 2 decades have passed since then, I wonder whether the world will ever be like late 1999s ( not like mid 1990s which is painful given the Bosnian civil war) just late 90s and year 2000, wonder if the world will ever be having that spirit again!
Even though I was born in the 00's,I still feel nostalgic for the 1960s and the 90s. I wasnt born but still. My mother wouldve been 13 at the time, and my grandma wouldve been 39. I wonder what else is was like to just, live in the 80s and 90s
The rise of youtube and faster internet made the 2000s great but 2000s music was bad and everything had a gray dull art style .but all the things i disliked about the 2000s are 1000x worse today with many more serious problems in the 2010s and 2020s. like who cares about bad music when i am more worried about getting bombed or going to jail for swearing.
I miss the 1990-1994 time frame, right before the net, people acted like human beings with one another, now with people recording everywhere and ever move, ring cameras every where you have no privacy. People don't talk anymore, they are always looking down at their phone, mindless people. I leave my cell in my purse and stay alert.
I was 9 years old in 1999 Good time to be alive in those decades when society was great no social media or cell phones life was about talking to people face to face and life was good. Thank you for bringing us back in time.
