Hi, I'm looking to fit new speakers in my lote P38, as well as fitting an amplifier for new bass speakers that I want to fit, I've watched your video when you did it on yours and on pretty confident on the speakers but can you explain a bit more on fitting the bass set up for me, and in particular the wiring, I have a kenwood dab head unit fitted in mine.
The subwoofers have their own amplifier built-in, or incorporated with the DSP amplifier in 2001 and later models. Just like the door speaker setup. Replacing the woofers themselves are pretty straight forward and easy. Most 6.5" units should fit fine. I eliminated the sub amplifier and run both subs in parallell for a 2Ω load. Adding a new sub amplifier capable of driving such a load, and wired it into the existing sub speaker wires from the headunit. The headunit then supplies a low-level signal for the sub to the new amplifier. If you're going for a 100W setup I'd replace the wiring (or add new ones rather) instead of the factory speaker wires. Thanks for watching!
