What can be said about the "origin" of a type in the MBTI? I mean: how does a child prefer one particular cognitive function over others? Do genes enter into the explanation? And the experiences lived by the child?
zmac I think genetics kind of do play a part since introversion and extroversion seems to be genetic. For instance, I'm an INFP female and my mother is an INTJ and her mother an ESTJ, while her sisters are ENFP and ISTJ. We all have the same functions, just in different orders which is interesting. Meanwhile though, my father is an ISTP, with his father having been an ESTP (idk about what his mother was) and my mother's father is an ISFJ.
intx123 The correlation I pointed out was that my mother, two aunts, grandmother and myself all use Te and Fi, while 4/5 of us use Si and and I'm not trying to say that proves any kind of fact about it being genetic. I'm also talking about the functions, not the letters.

Adan Adan yupp. Coming to terms with it. I always thought I was an “intuitive thinker.” Which I am, just didn’t realize my Fe was my “demon.” Just getting to value it more as I age. I lead with my introverted intuition. Ergo, INFJ. :)
Yeah. Thought I was an INxP because of test results, but then realized Ni was my dominant function and has been all my life, and the Ti is how I process stuff internally. I'm kind of an INxJ, because of autism, but Fe does seem to have more effect on me, even if I'm not "great" at it. So yeah INFJ or possibly "INTJ" at times.

I always struggle to hero worship. I’m even if someone was a president or a famous musician, I find it really hard to see them as anything more than “just people”. I think I am an INTP. I wonder if this is typical for that type.
I can relate and I'm an ISFP. Not sure what that says about me either, but I do know that I really enjoy getting into who someone REALLY is as soon as possible, rather than drifting aimlessly through the regimens of small talk. I like to aim straight for their passion and essence, in as non-intimidating of a way possible! Haha! It's an art, but so worthwhile. So I tend to be unimpressed by their facade because I'm so aware of its inauthenticity. The only person I ever significantly idolized was a relatively small RU-vidr who was unapologetically authentic in every single video and none of that changed as her following grew. To this day she is still 100% herself. It helps that she and I share a ton of similar interests -- that definitely spurred my idolization of her, but even then, I haven't felt that weird "awe" and unrealistic expectations toward her and her image. So I actually end up being more likely to admire someone who is NOT the typical "impressive" type. My INFJ husband is the same way -- he is constantly seeking out the underdog and championing them with deep loyalty, although he is a bit more susceptible than me to interest in celebrities. But still, he's very selective about which ones he admires, and he'll instantly notice when the fame begins to change them, at which point he experiences deep disappointment and sometimes discontinues his admiration. I hope all this anecdotal info is helpful to you, or at least interesting!

When you said that any person is only going to prize one of these, "the saver", is that whichever T or F is your first or third function? So, for both the INFJ and INTP it would be Ti? I thought for many months that I was INTP. I know that I have Ti and Fe. That was fairly easy to figure out for me. In learning more about N's and S's, it seems that I am INFJ. Much of it fits me. I hate to admit it, that you were right in the "Peacocking" video about typing because of what you would want to be. But I think I did want to be INTP... incredibly smart, a person full of useful facts, so on. I'm good at programming, which is a stereotype for them. But, I think I just prize my Ti. And... I think that I might have been perceiving my Ni to be my Ti? I am always thinking about stuff. It is fun, sometimes tiring. My ENTP husband says its something he loves about me. It has been quite the journey. My cousin thought that I was INTJ. She has studied MBTI for counselling and has always held that I must be a J. I tested as ENFP (my dad was), but that is a definite no. A friend thought I was INFP, but now agrees with INFJ as we have both been learning it together. INFJ does seem to be from seeing the ugly things about myself. The people-pleasing, the door-slamming, the perceived manipulation. My ESFJ friend says that I can really seem cold and impersonally logic at times... I guess this was another misguiding that lead me to INTP. But, perhaps both the INFJ and the INTP prize their Ti, so can seem this way? Especially, I imagine, to the Fe-dom ESFJ. Anywho, just trying to make sure right now. Sorry for the novel, haha. @@seetsamolapo5600 As an ENTP, doing Fi is hard, because objective reality is universally challenging to ascertain. Therefore, any truths and interpretation changes depending on the context and circumstances.
Nobody else has made me more confused on who I am, all of his videos make me question my identity all the time and I'm so confused now because I've always known myself as an ExxP type but now I'm wondering if I'm not acknowledging my dominant function or if I'm really an ExxJ or IxxP.

a few videos ago i started to think i was IENSTFPJ but now i realised i completely skip Te and instead rely on Ti, thinking if i can explain it to myself it is logical so???? what does that mean (oh and also i don’t have any problems with the rest of the functions, i think lol)
I'll say it again, the only thing I disagree with on your entire channel and website is that you use inductive-logic as an analogy for Ti (Introverted Thinking), and deductive-logic as an analogy for Te (extroverted thinking). Even Dario Nardi the INTJ who measures types with EEG sees Ti as deductive: ''In preliminary neuroscience findings by Dario Nardi, Ph.D., strong Ti is correlated with being able to do multiple types of analysis at once. TiNe’s primarily use Deduction and Categorization: "Deduction - Linearly deriving solutions using verbal/symbolic reasoning. For example, if A=B, and B=C, then A=C. Using this region is like moving along the branches of a tree. Categorizing - Categorizing and defining concepts in a holistic way using a “best-fit” process. For example, it helps us determine whether a dolphin better fits in the mammal or fish category as it sorts many categories simultaneously." Notice the attributes of deductive logic 'linear' and 'symbolic' which has similar traits to Ti (linear more focusesd) & (symbolic more subjective) which I am not trying to be a dick here or disrespect your research, just curious why you have decided to put Ti with inductive rather than deductive...
Same! I generally don't know what I think of his generalizations, I think I am just somebody who needs to be put into the mind of whoever primarily uses what. What he says makes sense, I just feel like I'm constantly taking the info and conceptualizing it in the way *I* need to understand.
I must have missed something because this isn't at all how he talked about Ti and Te in the video..? Ti - reasons for yourself, making sure you yourself understand. When you want to make sense of something for yourself. Te - reasons for the tribe, making sure other people understand. When you want people to be on the same page with the reasons for something. Neither of them has anything directly to do with inductive or deductive logic...?
Question: INTJ here, so Te in the second slot. I have strong Te, masculine from what I can tell. HOWEVER. I am not using it to figure out "tribe" reasons, I'm using it to figure out where the tribe is WRONG. I'm strongly opposed to progressivism, for example. Progressivism has ran away with the culture war, at least for the last 25 years. So shouldn't Te make me in tune with "progressive logic"...? Not only am I not in tune with it, I completely disagree with it. ...is it Fi hijacking Te for its own purposes?
Nah, you're guided primarily by Ni, which intuitively feels progressivism is a negative path for humanity. MBTI community treats INTJs like Te doms but we are *not.* Your criticism and, if it exists, action to stem the flow of progressivism, well, that's a means to an end to express your Ni. So your Ni will be liek, ok Te what do they think, now which makes more sense for me/best path. though ironcially it feels like Ti, i as an ENTJ also do this, i ask people what they thinnk than work with my Ni to see which one makes most sense. and eliminate the options that dont make sense to me on what i think works. As entj i still care ab others validation nd all that but thats sort of how i think.
I have a hard time deciding on things but I found asking other people their experiences and what they thought is really helpful. Not sure what that is. Te? Like if I want to buy a grill, I never had a grill before I don't even grill, but say I wanted to. I would ask a friend who grills what they think is the best grill and go with that.
I would have said Te but I have a Fe friend that goes around asking everyone questions everytime they need to do a decision so... you know it's an extroverted decider, now which one is it ? Reasons or Values ? You have to narrow it down with another angle. You only know it's De.
They sure do, mine for example is sitting in my rocking chair drinking coffee. I think this channel is such propaganda for the toxic over achievement culture that is destroying and burning out humanity, especially in the US. If I were to use FE as a lead, which I don't, I would build a company or work with spreading peace and calmness to people so that they can relax into their being and drop all this non-sense. Or wait I am doing that, kind of on the side.

@@miriamava9512 Well from my experience, Te saviors don’t move without purpose. And they really like moving and doing things. I think having Fi lower on the scale of importance lends to a disrespect of ones own feelings but I find they usually know what they care about pretty outwardly. It’s the Fe dominants that lack this ability to examine the self because they are so far removed from the Fi. As a Ti dominant, i can at least explain and examine my values/feelings and while i may not feel them as passionately as Fi’s ever do, I can at least sympathize. Often times Fe folks fail to ever express their inner desires because they’re always trying to please the tribe.
Can i share something with you....as an intp i think i know a lot about mbti but i guess I need to test that by talking or sharing with you cuz i see that i look at different angle than anybody and your stuff really help me develop my angle a lot lot

I’m so weird because I NEVER cry (literally have cried like 2 times in the last 3 years) and I don’t feel emotions but at the same time I am “empathetic” (I don’t feel emotions, I help other just because it makes sense to me). Ex: when I watch animals die in slaughterhouses I don't feel any emotion, I don't even feel sorry for animals. at the same time I am vegan because there is no point in killing animals. I don’t understand if that’s a Fi thing, a Fe thing or a Ti thing 😩
but then why are introverted children more obedient than extroverted children? my mom from the children's class and I asked her about it. and introverted girls tend to be more attached to the family (original tribe) than extroverted women.
Maybe it has to do with the nature of the first introverted function. If youre an introverted sensor, stereotypically you prefer the same things, you are drawn to the familiar (ie family). For the others, fi, ti, and ni, they all work similarly, they are personal and important to them. Whereas extroverted functions are expansive and more steroetypically exploratory. So maybe you seek out new sensory experience (Se) which leads you further from the familiar like family. And new ideas, more concepts, more understandings (Ne). I can see how Fe would be more likely to be involved with family than an introverted type though. I think intjs would probably be more stereotypically in their minds about ideas and not as attached maybe to family as an ESFJ, who would probably seem more family oriented, as extroverts. I think introversion and extroversion are broad brushes to use for the obedience family oriented discussion. However quiet kids are probably going to stand out as obedient, because they are probably more alientated from the group and are observers. So they will probably seek nurturing from a teacher or family even more than thw others who have lots of friends, because they arent getting it from the group. And they maybe observe and watch how things play out, making it easy for them to see what a mistake acting out is, since acting out leads the disobedient kid to suffer.
The tribe = group, so yeah, literally anything you want that is not you, so yes, your target demographic works. I'm designing that product for this group of person, can this group of person like this, or make use of this, does it make sense to them ?
And then you meet artists. Do they value if their art fits the tribe or anything? Do they value if their creation will be usefull and understandable by everyone? No... The procces of creation is of more importance to them than anything. The way to express one self is what they value. This Fi-Fe-Ti-Te approach is only usefull as a business model Bonus round: guess my type

I personally don’t mind your style but friends in the typing community are saying that they feel like you’re berating them and one actually said you gave her a headache. No offense but if people aren’t comfotable with the way he does things they can just, not look at it. You can’t just expect a person to change to how you want- especially if youre not some family or something. There’s no problem with the way he was talking, unless you take it personally. They should know that if something makes them uncomfortable it’s about them, it doesnt mean he’s doing something wrong just because they’re uncomfortable with it. You legit said “they feel like” well i feel like others do lot’s of wrong things but it’s about me, not them.
Lol. Your methodology is so linear. Things don't happen in this step-by-step fashion in real life. People often develop one bit of each judging function/decider at a time. A bit like having 4 empty shot glasses and pouring the vodka with a back and forth motion of the bottle. (Apologies to all the teatotallers out there.) All in all, people need to be patient with themselves and take the time to grow, instead of racing towards nowhere
I like your model, but... Nature hates perfect symmetry, there is always an asterisk. Fe without the tribe is? Miserable. What is Te without a tribe? Still Te. When I build for myself, it is still to answer a need, it will be practical and aligned with the world, tribe is not a concern. When I create for the market, I mostly account for the tribe’s capabilities, but sometimes I just make what I like. They'll follow if the idea has merit. Take Japanese cars, they are truly purpose built for the tribe. German cars are crafted for their own tastes. They don’t care if there is more maintenance, they want their cars to feel like German cars, value overrides the tribe. It is still an expression of Te.
yeap, my point was that he had very detailed/ kind of his own explanations of mbti rules in this and other videos, but i just realized strong Ti is connected with P element and they dont usually make strong statements like him, they even questioning their own thoughts and they wont tell someone strictly what to think. BTW i wouldnt say that he sounds like shy, introvert INTJ, more like ENTJ maybe? they both use strong Te. and based on that, are u strong te/fi user?
