I like the distinction you made between Fi being able to look at its emotions in the abstract, separate from the ever-changing real world, vs. Fe which looks at emotions as inextricable from that ever-changing world. Which is absolutely how I view them: I always struggle when reading Fi preferring philosophers (like Kierkegaard) and they talk about these specific emotional experiences apart from any particular context and I'm just like..."wut?"

I completely agree with this. I LOVED this video, it’s the best comparison of TiFe vs FiTe I’ve ever watched and I’ve been into mbti for 8 years. What makes this series so effective is that it’s addressing the pair functions as one, because that’s what they essentially are. You simply can’t properly explain Fi behaviour without Te. Same with Fe without Ti, they’re the same thing and can’t exist without the other. Every Fe manifestation will have a Ti core and every Te behaviour will be drawing from Fi, once people understand this they’ll be less confusion around type.

@@TheSdennis89 Ooo, true! I have a slight confession: I had recently been feeling like Fe/Ti people weren't "real people" because I noticed a distinct lack of them talking about how achieving goals would make them feel and I started to think they were empty husks of people just kind of wandering through life. BUTTTT, now I get a chance to look for their "Ti core" (as you put it) and I'll finally see them for who they really are rather than trying to apply an "Fi core" understanding to them.

@sebasmoralesvides

@@bethanysingsmrs849 I'd say it's different being swayed by others feelings than conforming to others morals. Fi is more about honoring one's internal moral code, so if the external moral atmosphere (such as social norms) is incongruent to that there may be some issues in the eyes of Fi. And difficulty/awkwardness expressing emotions is something a lot of people have regardless of cognitive functions, and certainly more divisive in Fi and Fe users, as those types are likely to either be incredibly reluctant to showing emotion or really eager to, with less frequency in the middle grounds (not impossible tho)

I relate well the Te ladder analogy. I went to college, studied engineering, crawled my way until 3rd year then came to realize that I didn't want what I was doing so I packed up and left to pursue something else. I took the time off to find out what I want. It was really hard to decide cause even I had a couple of ideas of what I wanted, I was still considering other factors like money, school, tuition, usefulness, parents, capability etc. I knew that if I went for something that I didn't want, I would be making the same mistake again. I regret the time I could have spent finishing a degree I wanted but for the effort.. not so much. So high. Te users out there find out what you want first cause it'll save you a lot of freaking time
@caramelunicorn8023
@caramelunicorn8023 4 года назад
I think I can sort of relate, the course I studied seemed cool initially until the reality sunk in that I couldn't find a job after I graduated. Then i realized its the wrong course. I'm not sure if its linked to the Te ladder analogy though because I did want to do something creative as a career but things didn't turn out that way. Maybe more Fi being oblivious to the Te reality of not finding employment in that field.

I have the theory that Ti/Fe axis decides on 'Understanding' how things or people work while Fi/Te axis decides on 'Achievement' of values or results.
@someone-cn8pt
@someone-cn8pt 5 лет назад
i agree, both Fi (understanding yourself) and Te want to achieve (your goals/tasks) while Ti is focused on understanding the world and Fe is understanding the group. it can be interchangeable tho since Te also means you want things to make logical sense, you want to understand. And Fi does try to understand others, even puts more effort into it compared to the more automatic Fe way-

The judging axes sheds light on why INTJs (myself) and INFJs can both be empathetic, but the Ni-Te-Fi path is much different and more indirect than the Ni-Fe path. Our flashes of insight and blindspots are also quite different.
@lufsolitaire5351

I understand that as well. I can be personally sympathetic to an individual I relate to or like but taking Fe into account in relation to groups was a struggle. I’d just prefer to make a direct decision based on the best information at any time even if it steps on some people’s toes. Having to go around asking each person what they’d like or want seems tedious.
@allyson87

Everybody experiences empathy, but Fe and Fi go about it differently. Fi users are good at putting THEMSELVES in other people’s position, while Fe uses imagine how that person experiences the situation. Ironically, if you compare people with F similarly stacked, Fe users are more accurate but Fi users are more confident in their empathy. As an INFJ, this irks me so much about INFPs

Here's a clusterfudge layering of thoughts within thoughts. I'M THINKING ABOUT WHAT YOU SAID AT ONE POINT. IT WAS LIKE "To me I just feel like Fe is trying spur with emotions" AND THEN I THOUGHT "this can't always be true, but Fi could be a totally different world from what I know... no joke... is there anyway to somewhat demonstrate Fe not intending to spur emotions? So... one of the things Fe users do when they are at their best is reveal the emotions of others to others. At least that's what I thought. OKAY I GOT IT. EVERYTHING I JUST SAID SPURS ALL EMOTIONS IN SOME WAY AND THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT. Ture... but, all in all there seems to be this need to get the emotions being shared accurately represented. I think this is where most of the emotional artificialness comes from... adjusting for the best possible representation. SUPER CRAZY EXAMPLE: Both you and the INTJ depend on an EXFJ to save all three of your lives by telling your armed ex-boyfriends how you two really feel about them. DONE... this was all the magic I had. You used me up and now I am giving you Fe shame😆

Great video! I think this is where I can’t fully be on board with using MBTI. It’s hard for me to see Ti and Fe as having to be used together. I truly think I have a Ti in my function, but I truly feel like I have Fi rather than Fe in my function. I think either would be low in my function, but I can’t even fathom others emotions or read a room at all. I always have to consciously remind myself to think about how I would feel in a situation for me to care about it at all which is why I think I would have Fi in my function rather than Fe. But I feel like I also have Ti in my function rather than Te because I’m constantly trying to piece things together with my own internal logic. I think I relate with the INTP overall, but I just think I have a stronger Fi instead of Fe.

Heyo! Great job with this! You have a very nice presenting voice. And the content is very good; you did a very good job giving more abstract definitions balanced with examples and so forth. Clear as crystal! I think it is very interesting how you said you are more comfortable picking out types in actual people rather than describing things abstractly, because I feel the opposite way: I would much rather figure out what the abstract definitions are than try to find them instantiated in people. I'm comfortable saying in the abstract "here is how it is," which is precisely where you feel there's too many ways for the definition to go wrong. Whereas I feel there are too many ways for me to mistype someone. I think this is my Ti vs. your Te. I struggle to pick out the pertinent Te data points, and you struggle to pick out the pertinent Ti principles. Or something like that? Anyway, I'm going to continue watching the video now. But I wanted to write a comment before I forgot my thought.
@CasualCognition
@CasualCognition 5 лет назад
Thanks for your kind words :) Love your content! I think that's true. My Ne love the abstract, but when it comes to definitions, I find it a little awkward to define something a certain way while knowing I've come across examples of exceptions (which is probably decent Si). Te is just that, working with information in the external, so I guess it makes sense that for me, listing a bunch of examples is more comfortable than describing an internalized principle. Alex has higher Te, but she still seems similar in this regard. Since Ti is internalized, it seems natural that logical principles would become "entities" separable (but not necessary separate) from the external world, comparable to what Fi does with emotions. Our work with visual typing is also more examples and observations rather than principles; it's rather fluid and has gone through a lot of trial and error. I'm finally settling on definitions and explanations for those (no videos yet), so Te definitely seems to work from the outside in while Ti seems more inside out!

Ti always looks for logical consistency. Ni is just "getting it", even if a bit fuzzy on the precision of logic. As an Ni dom, I do use some Te logic to aid, but once I "get it", accuracy doesn't matter as much to me, because I get it now. This abstract concept is in my head in a form of a compressed memory. Me: is an INFJ with high Fi... so my Fe is lower but my Fe & Ti are close together as it should be for the typed "INFJ". My Te isn't so well developed. I have higher Ni, leading with it, and my Se is inferior though I do have my Si developed more so for example, on a test like mbti, my N/S results were 58% intuitive vs 42% observant... I'm primarily an INFJ but have Fi & Si more developed than probably other INFJs. My Ti is superior to Te just as it should when typed as an INFJ but I may be mistyped as an INTJ due to F/T closeness for INFJs. I lead with Fi to direct what I am and who I want to be rather than rely on Fe. I can still gauge the emotions and intentions underlying people's actions even if I haven't experienced those feelings myself but I will have the mind to help the other person understand what they need to understand to get through it. I can tell when they should be left alone as sometimes the experience will be their best teacher (best course of action at some point > I give them the tools to adjust themselves & don't fight for them). In time, Instead of learning to have boundaries, I learned to loosen up more and accept the fact that I have Fe & work to help people whenever I can. In this way I don't compromise myself and am capable of speaking after what I want as part of a group sometimes. Of course, either there is a new compromise between every one or the majority rules which I won't mind if what the majority wants isn't too bad for me anyway. My Fe takes into account dynamics and the atmosphere while my Fi still knows what I am blatantly not ok with as it is higher than my Fe. I don't directly take on others' emotions like other INFJs I would say, but it can and has happened in the past when I could not unconditionally accept the existence of a certain complex emotion I deemed toxic. Not fun at all taking it on yourself for hours...

INTJ here, and I'm in the same parallel boat as you with high Ti and blindspot Fe. Just need to work on my Te as that is my responsibility. Here is the thing, don't use the percentages from the 16personalities test. Mbti tests are just plain inaccurate. Also, just because you are one type, doesn't mean your life has to be that type, even though you are born with it which cannot change. The biggest problem in mistyping is looking at behaviors and stereotypes, a big no-no. Look at the *motivations* is to why you are doing it, based off of your functions. I hope this is Te clear to you.
@MCPanda-bl3nc
@MCPanda-bl3nc 3 года назад
@@Diaming787 Yh, I understand not relying on a test like MBTI. I mainly just used it as an example to paint a picture for people since that's mostly where they come from. My sister is an INFP so I know well what it's like to have Te around, I just barely care for it on a personal level. It's usually an annoyance for me to have to put specific sources to a conclusion I came to when doing research for example, but it's just something I have to do. I really would never want my life to be like the stereotype. In fact, a large reason for the stereotype existing is because sites like MBTI capitalize on the stereotype of someone that's unhealthy in regards to how they use their functions. Ideally, no matter what type you fundamentally fit into (the way you *process and understand* things around you, which MBTI doesn't address well like other sources I had found), you should be capable of reaching into any or most of the 8 functions in your own way to be healthier. The more mixed your own development has been can also give you the incorrect type on a test like MBTI. For example, many of the people who fit the stereotype of an INFJ had to learn boundaries while I ended up barricading myself with boundaries more or less so I had to learn to let people in. A big part of that is the fact that I never felt I could emotionally rely on everyone around me. I noticed things too well, recognized my limits within society and it affected me a lot to know that I couldn't just be more grown-up because I wanted. I had to wait years which ended up costing a lot of my motivation. The way people grow in typical human society sucks ass. I'm 20 but plenty of times it's like I'm 80. - And this has been an unnecessary tangent, but basically, cognitive function types have more to do with how you process things, but everyone should learn to access at least most of them in their own way to grow as a person.- The way I imitate Fi is that as a kid I would gather information with Fe, but then infer and make my own opinions on matters by thinking about what would generally be the best way to think about it, using my Ti to synthesize said information and come to a conclusion that is both logically and emotionally the most "good", the most "right". This led to me questioning religion at a fairly young age like 4-5 even. I could weed out inconsistencies and things that after some thought/forethought, clearly weren't actually benefitting society. Maybe you yourself in some way worked to imitate Ti by using Te as part of it and/or there was a reason you'd end up limiting yourself to just synthesizing over reviewing a lot of outside sources and/or there's a reason you would end up building on something you saw or read and never really checked up on as many solid facts. I feel like it's interesting to think of these little things that give extra insight into why you've developed the way you have.

@@vivekanandgorle3770 The way I am correlating past and present in my comment is to show people how I came to understand my own use of the functions. Core Si users will definitely use the past to make decisions on the future, but I don't... instead I use my intuition, Fe, and Ti to make decisions about the future or pretty much anything. Just because I am able to reflect on my past and how I used functions doesn't mean I use Si in my everyday life to make decisions. Infjs I think use Si in more of a way that's to their disadvantage. Like getting stuck in the past or experiencing it when they are forced to use in a situation. Infjs don't care to trust the past to determine their future. My mom is an Isfj and though we get along great, we also don't always get along because the way we approach problems is so different. She's very by the books, using existing frameworks and her past experiences living according to how she was raised and grew up learning. I don't do that. I like starting from a blank slate usually and work my way around taking information with Fe, using Ti to synthesize it, and using Ni to guide everything looking towards the future. It's just how I am. Though my Si may still be higher than one would think because I've been stuck in the past a lot. I've learned to deal with it. I'm capable of learning from the past but that doesn't mean I let it influence my future other than the fact that those past experiences are already part of my current thinking process, which will continue to evolve as I synthesize new information. Remembering and explaining myself to this extent shows more awareness of myself than the stereotypical INFJ you see described everywhere, but that's just because I've learned to reflect on myself and develop my own sense of self.

@@MCPanda-bl3nc first of all, Si is not decision making function so no one use Si to make decisions instead they use this function to take information which means collecting information through senses like remembering life experiences and reading books etc. And the perceiving function will be combined with decision making function. For example, for intp , they use ti ( their first function or hero function) and Ne ( their second function or parent function) for this purpose. people stuck due to loop between hero function that is first function and child function that is third function and both exist in ego. For example, for intp, this loop will be Ti and Si loop. And every person admires their fourth function and wants to improve it more. For example, for intp, Fe is fourth function or inferior function. So intp thinks he wants to improve Fe. He will get annoyed if he or anyone don't use Fe well. For example, if someone don't care for social harmony then he will get annoyed. And first four functions are conscious functions and next four functions are unconscious functions. And fifth function that is also called as nemesis function. One doesn't use nemesis function so comfortably like other functions. He uses it like an opposing force. For example, intp uses nemesis as Te. It means when someone gives some logical information , you will question it or oppose it or suspect so this makes you to not use this function comfortably. And sixth function is critic function. He will have very critical view over this function. For example, intp has Ni as critic function so he is very critical about his future and thinks that he is missing something important for the betterment of the future. And this makes them difficult to use this function comfortably. And sixth function is trickster function or blind spot function. And problem with this function is that person cannot use this function properly. For example, for intp, Se is blind spot function. So he might be missing his pen somewhere or he may not be caring about what dress he wears. And finally, the last function is demon function. For intp, fi is the last function. Both Fi and Ti are introverted decision making functions so both of these functions gives self awareness about your decisions and behaviour but the difference is Fi users are self aware of their feelings and conceal their feelings and use their feelings to manipulate them selves , where as Ti users are self aware about their thinking and conceal their thinking to themselves. Finally, everyone use every function and it's not about which function you use more and which you use less. But about which function has which kind of attitude.

This whole video was entirely applicable to me, I am literally only able to determine that I do both F and T, but this is far too arbitrary.
