Jenny can't put the microwave plate in either. She had to stand on Poppy's bowl to reach. Agree with you on new Motorhomes. You've no idea how a used van has been looked after. Six months warranty doesn't sound long enough to get things sorted. Never trusted drop down beds. Can't whack a fixed bed! 😁
Hi Bob, hope you are enjoying the NEC show. They really are out at a ridiculous height and I think dangerous too, That was our main issue, we know how many things have gone wrong with ours over three years and we’ve used it to find out. Six months warranty just didn’t cut it, and no you really can’t whack a fixed bed 😊🤣
Hi both, thought about this one. For us Three primary areas of consideration when we recently replaced our van. 1. Do you want to change your van for bigger, smaller, newer, different layout. 2. Warranties, internals and water ingress, protect yourself against bigger losses. 3. Keeping your investment up together, don’t let your investment depreciate too much. When you sell, ideally you don’t have to add too much money to upgrade. For us, 1. we were happy with the layout but wanted to go a bit smaller. Not enough reason to change. 2. We were happy with what warunty we still had left on our Swift KS at two years old. No reason to change. 3. We had reached a pivotal point financially when if we wanted another new van with new warranties and address 1, we would need to jump within a short period of time. Our van had started to drop in value below what we had paid for it and prices of new ones just about to hike up again. We managed to jump for about £15k all told. Next year the same deal would cost us 8k more, and the year another 8k. If you are looking to buy another new van, and like your current van, I suspect your decision is correct from 1 an 2 perspective, but wrong from the perspective of 3. If you look at the current situation, vans will be short in supply for at least another 5 years. When number of imports increase, you will be more effected by resale on your old van so lose lose. From a 3 perspective no time like the present.
Hi Rob & Lynn on Tour, So So glad you are not parting with your beloved motorhome i am really please ! Thats what i was praying for ,because my saying is ,if it aint broke ,don't fix it or replace it ! Now thats my opinion , your motorhome is beautiful 😍 & i haven't yet seen 1 that even comes close to yours its bloody emaculote & looks amazing, & know way would i have swopped it for a drop down bed because if you need the loo 1 of you has to disturb the other & there prown to damp being so close to the ceiling when not in use ! Also there is a weight restriction so there wouldn't be any passion Rob in 1 of them others lol 😊 ,but know seriously you have made the right decision 😊now i can get hammered yey ! Because i was so worried that you would regret it if you brought another second hand 1 only to find out that you would need alot doing to it down the road ,so you have made the right decision & to go for a new 1 for @ least down the road they might come down in price & you would have warranty on your new 1 ,so you wouldn't be having to worry for the next 3yrs what if this goes wrong or that etc, plus you both have to think of your health as you get older as well touch wood but Rob what if you suddenly were out of work you just dont know whats around the corner ! Well i will sleep better now ,knowing you both have made the right decision & kept your beautiful motorhome because you have spent enough & made it into your home ! So yeh Happy Bloody Holidays you 2 love birds 🐦 🐦⬛ lol❤ , I am chuffed to bits for you both , & get hammered i am 😂 all my love enjoy your break ,lots of love Linda Dunn from Newport Shropshire xxx 🎉❤😊🎉xxx
We went last year to Brean/Byrnham on Sea in spring (and it snowed). We often went to Unity but it is much too busy all the way along that coast nowadays, so not going there again. I àgree that cauliflower cheese looked fabulous. Lynn has done everything as usual and still looks good.
Good choice keeping your current van the fixed bed is a better option you would get fed up pulling the bed down or making a bed then putting it away.Your van has hardly done any miles keep it for alot longer since use know the van inside and out
So pleased u have taken the decision. We at times get anurge to change but go back to my Burster and realise no, we have all we need, and Robert has done lots of add ons. So carry on having HAPPY HOLIDAYS.
Hi yes we will be keeping our van for a good few years yet we won’t be throwing anymore money away 👍 happy holidays to you and thank you for your comment 👍
Hi Rob and Lynne, we hundred percent agree with your reasons for not swapping....also loved the look of the chicken wings on Sunday....keep up the good work Lynne....Happy Holidays
We have just had our van stolen, we are gutted, glimmer of hope is that police found it and is now in one of their holding facilities for forensics, they won't tell us yet of it's condition, please everyone be aware as the value of our van's are making them prime for the taking, may just put in prospective how much you love the van you have 😊
Oh no, that’s awful, we are just so glad it’s been found, we hope and pray it’s ok for you. Let us know It really does make you realise Wishing you all the very best
Hi Rob and Lynn, I have just sat through this vlog, and I totally agree with your decision, Julie (head office) and myself are going to go from caravan to motorhome in the future, we didn`t go to the NEC either, we felt it would effect out judgement on layout/price etc, Like you said Rob, its a lot of money to pay out, then find out it doesn`t suit your needs, We are looking everywhere to get some ideas of layouts, we Like the idea of a rear lounge, but we will miss the fixed bed. Julie doesn`t like the idea of a drop down bed, So we are looking for a motorhome with a caravan sized lounge, fixed bed, mossive wardrobe, !! easy eh?? Also we do not want to wait 2 years for delivery, so Whilst we go on the hunt, we shall enjoy our caravan for time being. All the best, Love the channel. Regards Dave. PS. we live about 30 seconds away from where that accident happened!! :)
Hi, thank you, it’s so hard to find the perfect van, there is always a compromise, we love our fixed bed as there is no making up of beds but o love the rear lounge so it’s as I said a compromise, We hope you find the perfect van for you soon 😊 Oh so you love really close to our son 😊😊
Thank you, all the ones we have, have had a poky dinette, not ideal for getting comfortable on an evening unless copious amounts of alcohol is consumed!! Yeah if had turned left and gone up the hill, and turned left again before you reached the end, we be there! 😊 All the best. Dave
Hi Rob and Lynn we had a chat with Adam ay Lowdhams at the NEC, He said they are not doing the Swift Kon-Tiki Grand Prix ranger as a dealer special. So the Swift Kon-Tiki Grand Prix 774 you looked at and liked (rear lounge, with a good size garage) they have 3 in stock and 1 display moho, so if your interested give Adam a call say i told you and he indicated he could do a deal. hope your well and love the apron. Catch you soon❤ Dave and Julie & Toby the woof
Hi Rob and Lyn we have been in exactly the same position as you, our van being four years old and we have been looking around and we’re very close to changing it, but after some thought came to exactly the same conclusion as you, we know our van, the service and warranty work that has been carried out and then t having to pay an increased price for something of a similar age, not really knowing nothing about it became a no brainier not to change and we are now very happy that we didn’t commit to a change Best wishes to you both ,
Your decision makes compete sense, £20k difference is a lot for a van the same age with a different layout. Good to see how things play out over the next couple of years. Enjoy your travels 😊
Hi There Rob Lynn and Doggies , Hope you are all well , Great video , And you went to warren farm yes all nice down there , shame you had rain , i was a hop skip and a jump from you , and yes it pelted down , i was trying to walk the dogs , lol, i agree with you its a lot of wonga for the same year , yes look after your money , so Thank you for sharing , Take care All ,👍👍
Hi Paul, we are good thank you, hope you are too, Thank you ☺️ aww wow hope you had a good time too We think we’ve made the right decision this time, Take care 😊😊
Right decision and I luv my fixed bed ………would always want one. and I also luv ❤my blanket as well from Cheeky Monkeys as well. Glad we left it at home though this time as it’s been so hot……looking forward to putting it back as we will be freezing 🥶 when we get back Xx
You’ve got to be comfortable with decision, you’ll get a longer warranty with a new van. We ordered our new Burstner in May 22, it may be here for Christmas! They didn’t say which year😥
It’s definitely the right decision especially if you can’t find out about any warranty work that’s been done on the other van. The whole motorhome industry needs a shake up and we all should have access to the while history of a van/caravan and it’s a lot of money to spend on a (maybe it will be ok). Like you we would love a rear lounge but it’s too much to spend when there’s nothing wrong with our current van which like you we both love. Keep enjoying your van it’s got a lot more adventures in it yet.
Thank you, and yes we agree, and 6 months just wasn’t enough if things did go wrong, especially when it was costing an extra 20k Take care and thank you again 😊😊
You did right . . New vans are a crazy thing. . 20K could make your van how you like. . Still wouldn't swap you my Box. . Cos I built it and know n trust it. Happy bloody Holidays x
Tomorrow Wednesday, we are going to the NEC, when we leave there, we are travelling down to Warren Farm! for a few days. You are probably back home now. I just hope this storm Babet blows over soon. The last storm Agnes, we were at John o’ Groats! You can’t beat a CCClub pop up site, they are brilliant 🎉.
That’s great, hope you really enjoy it, and Warren Farm we love it there ( in the winter) Yes we hope so too, oh wow I bet was scary 😧 No you really can’t 😊😊
Glad you decided to keep your van for now as you never know what round the corner you might see something else as new ones come out all the time and in a few years you could go for it You have a lovely van enjoy
I am so pleased you both made the decision to keep the 599. Totally agree about your decision and your reasons why. The prices have started to come down. Dealers have already discounting new Motorhomes. Dave.
You walked into the bed weight joke Lynn , he got you with that one . !. You could of course hire a van of the type you are interested in buying for a few nights and see how the drop down bed works out .
Totally agree on your decision on the new van, we’re going through something similar at the moment (warranty work) with our brand new van from Swift. Waited over 12 months for it and 2 weeks after taking delivery it’s back with Swift for remedial works!! Just for info, I think I’m right in saying that if you have a “My Swift Life” account you can view the warranty work history on the van. Good luck anyhow, love the vlogs guys 👍😀
Hi thanks for the info on my swift life 👍 we certainly did make the right decision it seems all makes of vans have loads of issues sad but true 👍 thank you for your comment
You made the right choice once you said you could not see what warranty work had been done. Love your van. Glad the weather looked better. Happy Holidays
Yippee we have got off the rollercoaster ride, no seriously you have both made the correct decision, and once the time is right you will get your new van.
Hiya Rob and Lynn can i just say i think you have definitely made the right decision for one 6 months warranty for 20 thousand pounds doesnt bare thinking about like you Rob i would be waiting for something to go wrong and also its a lot of money for the same year as your van when you paid if i remember in the 60 range plus you know every nut and cranny with your van which like you said all the expensive things that could go wrong have been replaced under warranty..... You have such a beautiful van like us we know our vans so i definitely 💯💯💯think you have both made the right decision so a big Cheers 🎉 on keeping your beautiful van ..... Wow cant believe how much it rained when you first arrived and i think its unreal how Duchess and Mavis know when you arrive ...... Have a brilliant weekend..... Take Care ......😊😊🐕🐕
Hi Alison yes we think we have made the right decision 👍 like you say it would be on our minds all the time what could go wrong we have a lovely van so we will definitely be keeping it 👍 thank you so much for taking the time to write your comment it’s appreciated 👍
Hi we are in the same position want to change are Adria sonic to a rear lounge, been at the NEC for 2 days didn't see anything which was worth justifying the expense to change. so I have removed the large table in the front and fitted a smaller one, and bought a lottery ticket! lol carry on camping
Totally agree you made the correct decision, 20K for only 6 months warranty totally insufficient. Keep enjoying your great van until you decide to purchase a new one with the comfort of a full warranty. Happy Holidays cheers 🍻
Hi 👋🏻 Rob and Lynn I hope you had a great weekend on the Rally.. I absolutely understand your decision on the new van and I agree, that much money with only 6 month’s warranty is probably risky.. Good on you both.. Your dinner looked soo delicious 🤤 Take care and lots of love ❌❌❌💜💜
Think you guys made the right decision like you we have had our van since new and whilst we look at over units no point in changing for the sake of it it would almost be playing roulette with your money. You have a cracking bus anyway.
We just changed our van but gone from a small 2016 coach built van to a 2022 panel van and spent similar to what you were going to spend. We love the new van as wanted a panel van and love the layout there’s a few compromises but it’s just what we wanted. We got a long warranty too. I agree with you no way I could have done it with short warranty or on something the same year. Interesting watching you drive through Kingswinford as group up round there and not far from where my mum lives.
So glad you have made the right decision for you and are happy, when we weighed up the pros and cons we just couldn’t justify it, especially with such a short warranty Oh wow, small world 😊😊
You're sitting in somehing that the dealers want, they know they can make a lot of money on it and the person that buys it will have a great van. You however could have spent £20,000 for just six months warranty and a rear lounge, thats about £11 per day for six months. Of course you made the right decision, well done and thank you for taking us along. 👍
Good decision people second hand vans are way to expensive at the moment and like ye said rob the market will change I’m sure you will get the layout eventually Lynn 👍
So glad you have stayed away from Nick Whales. Cannot even start with the problems we had with them. I’m so pleased your not bothering . Completely the right decision guys.❤️
Totally agree with you! I think it is crazy to pay another 20k for a van the same year just for a rear lounge. We changed our van and it is a massive decision, you can’t just keep changing because of the money you lose. By the way we have just come back from a long weekend at Lickhill Manor after searching through your videos for somewhere to go. Brilliant! What a lovely site, big thanks for sharing the places you visit 😊❤
Hi Tracey it is crazy we agree 👍 Lickhill manor it’s a lovely site isn’t it we hope you enjoyed your stay there thank you so much much for taking the time to write your comment
Hi again guy's, did you ask Salop for a swap price on a new one??? Tell them you have the full detailed history of your van, unlike their used one 🤷♂️ Give us a shout out Sam & Jean in Cannock Staffs 🙏 Good luck - Happy Holidays to all . . .
Wow ! Just shows how much they value your business "I don't think" Well at least you know where you stand with Salop ! You on You Tube as well not good for their reputation is it . . . I think you should look at other brand's now and see what's on offer, as lot's of new model's coming out. Good luck anyway - All the very best Sam 👌
Lynne needs a grow tall step Rob. In respect of the bus, good choice. You’ve had all the work done now, enjoy what you’ve got. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!
The van will come round again, prices will come down. Its a hard decision to make, however you have done what's right for you both for now. Take care both xxx
I do think you have made the right decision. We were in Brean and Weston just recently great place . Love the throw lot of work went into that Happy Travelling to you both 🚙
Are you recommending Swifts???? After all those warranty propblems. We had an old Hymer, about 5 years old we did over 110,000 in 15 years and had no work done on it, only things like tyres and replaced fridgefreezer. . We had all the records from previous owner and apart from annual servicing nothing had been done.😂
Think you did the right thing as you have put many hours in to keeping the van 100% inside the warranty. The thing is though, vans are like houses. If and when you sell yours you will be in the same market and unless you downgrade or sell yours and wait for a drop? you will still need to shell out more won’t you? Not sure if prices will drop too much if at all either as high inflation has been around for years now 👍
Glad to hear that you have decided which way to go. I seriously believe that you have made the right decision and that the current van is a known entity , which you have both looked after. 👍 On a more serious note, why don’t you have the seats recovered to match Lynn’s tracksuit?
Thank you, we do too, but it was hard as I absolutely loved it, but when we weighed up all the pros and cons we just couldn’t justify it. Unbelievable 🤣🤣🤣
Think you have both made the right decision, everything you have said makes complete sense. That is an awful lot to spend to possibly end up with something that isn’t right ,and if that happened you would not get the enjoyment you get now from your van. Continue your travels and enjoy every minute time will soon pass.Happy Holidays.🥰🥰
Good decision, well worth waiting if your in rush to change the van, hopefully things should start getting back to normal soon and year long delivery dates will be a thing of the past 🙂,
Good decision , i agree just think how many holidays you'll have for that 20k. We often look but realise fixed bed + drop down for grankids is perfect for us. Were going next week , happy holidays.
Definitely made the right decision. You have such a nice van already and no way is that end lounge worth 20k. I honestly think the lack of the garage and making beds up might get you down. We had an end lounge and LOVED it but it really did get old quickly making beds up and losing out on storage space. BTW 6 month’s warranty is pretty poor for an expensive van. We got 3 years with a 4 year old van and 1 year with a ten year old van. So the dealers is definitely not as confident with their product by only offering 6 months. The right van will find you soon I am sure
Thank you, we think so too, that’s so interesting what you say about the warranty, definitely should have offered more than 6 months as that was the deciding factor for us
Really do agree with what you have said and your decision. We considered a second hand , but with the money we were paying and never having had a Moho before and having been burnt with second hand horse lorries we wanted the new warranty’s. At our ages it’s a significant investment . As you said , you know your vehicle with all the repairs you have had . We waited a year . Paid for extended warranty with Fiat professional so have 6 years on the Ducato and the new hab warranty with Swift etc . I think you have made right decision . Like you we were going to go to a rally , our first , last weekend . Shropshire DA . Changed our mind as I didn’t want to park our 4.5 tonne on wet grass with all the rain . Took some of Rob’s advice …. Went hard standing up in Lancashire .
Hi and thank you, we think so too after we’d weighed up the pros and cons we just couldn’t justify it. You can’t beat rallies, but in the winter months you have to choose carefully, we always try to get hard standing in the winter Take care and thank you for your comment
Vans are one of the most expensive things you will ever buy as you know so think with your head and not with your heart. You’ve made the right decision 👍🏽👍🏽
As someone who has an electric bed we have never had any damp problems. We only leave the sheets on and throw our blanket over once in it. That way there is always an air gap. I have seen people who leave all bedding on and no breathing space. Now, years ago when Kon Tiki first came out they were the bee's knees. Unfortunately not anymore. Of all the you tubers we watch the countless problems you see of things going wrong and falling off always seems to be swifts. I hate to say it but I really think that their quality has gone seriously downhill. Very sad to say this. Anyway good decision at the moment. Good video as we expect from yourselves.
That was one of the things against it as we were going to use that as the main bed, where would we keep the bedding ? I don’t think anything is made like it used to be
We have a wardrobe the goes right across the back end of the van. Underneath this is the garage so luckily storage is not an issue. We use 1 wardrobe for clothes and the other wardrobe for bedding. But yes, I do see the problem. Take care.
I think its the right decision you have been in our caravan and we have a fixed bed but ours goes across ann wanted to change to a bed at the rear like your motorhome but I said like you rob we have loads of warranty work on it its been rebuilt from the inside plus its paid for we are both retired all the big things on the van have been done and i am not going into debt for a new van which i will wait for ages for it to be delivered when i complained to swift i remember is words exactly what he said if you do not like our caravans dont buy another i will never forget that
Hi Dave hope you are keeping well, and yes your caravan is lovely 🥰 I totally agree with everything you say, that was so bad, you should have reported him to Swift
thank you for the reply rob yes your right i use to work for a family co many years ago if my boss would have ear me speak to a customer like that i think co car would have gone and p45 would be given to me thanks again rob and lynn happy bloody hoildays dave ann and chico
Yes Lynn every time there's another war in a different country our fuel goes up what a liberty xx I agree you've had a lot of things done to the van you got, and now it's perfect keep It for the time being you won't regret it plenty of time to change you 2 being so young x
Wise decision. Put the 20k towards the new van . I Think the market as peaked, there's a lot more choice available on the forecourts than there was a year ago. And dealers are starting to reduce the price of new vans
Thank you, we think so too, we will keep looking around, ( as we love snooping in vans anyway 😊😊) and yes there does seem to be loads more available now 😊
sorry for asking but the van you have now is it yours and payed up?if it is then keep it,if you want a fixed bed do it yourself and you will save a fortune, plus if you did that you would likely keep it even longer,as of now you made right choice like you say you know the van like the back of your hand and how much you have spent on it....thnx for all your vlogs keep um coming...IRENAROB🌠
Youve definitely made the right decision, your van is absolutely beautiful & why chsnge something thats bot broken, save money in the mean time for when you want to upgrade ❤ you two are awesome & behind the scenes its real life & you got to do what right 👍🏼 awesome vlog guys ❤🥂🥂🌹
Ah disappointed for you BUT i think you've made the right decision both, it's no newer than your's and personally i wouldn't give up my fixed bed!!! Absolutely right after all the things you've had done it's worth more (it's like a new motorhome now) yip go new when the time is right, nice one guys happy for you, our neighbours have just ordered a new land-rover and that's going to take 12 months 2. And we waited 9 months when we had our kontiki last year. To be honest against a new van even in a year's time you'll still get what you paid for it. ❤ look forward to many more HAPPY BLOODY HOLIDAYS in the van😂😂😂 stay safe xx
Hi and yes we think we’ve made you right decision, when we weighed up the pros and cons we just couldn’t justify it. We do love our bus, and maybe on the future ……
You have both made the right decision guy's. The swift kon-tiki Grandprix in 2020 was about 75,000, I paid 72,000 for mine in 2020. I can't see how it's gone up 7 grand in three and half years. You are better off sticking with the van you know and love. The price of new vans and the quality don't make sense. We are sticking with what we got. We have spent so much on upgrading and just love it. Take care both. Lots of love the Welsh Mods Frank and Jane ❤
Wise wise decision guys. I commented that I adored that layout but I wasn’t aware of the price difference for the same year and yeah, we would have come to exact same conclusion. It’s funny because it’s exact same market here in the States, Motorhome etc are still inflated in price and you should NEVER buy high - you’ve got a gorgeous van, sit tight, wait till sanity prevails in the RV industry and grab yourself a new one in a couple of years with a nice full warranty and security. Of course your trade in won’t be as tasty but the purchase price won’t be as high so it all evens out.
Hi and yes, it was perfect, but the price and that we found out we’d actually filmed that very van back in March, hopefully the prices will get back to normal soon, Take care and thank you again 😊🤩
