@@orochimaruorochimaru9730 I’m pretty sure it does. I had quintet and dark magician on the field with super poly set and I never got a cue to use it even though I had a card in my hand and 3 different fusion targets left in my extra deck.
@@alfonsopayan09 I don’t think mahad is summoned if you draw him right at the beginning of a duel in your opening turn ? Only when you draw him as the game goes on ?
While I do like the profile, I feel like he's missing rock monsters. In the anime, while it is said that Yami and Muto share the same deck, they do always play out very differently, with Yami Yugi used a lot of spellcasters and warriors and going hard on them while Yugi Muto used rock monsters too, with the Magnets and all.
@@aozorahaou2643 But still, magnet warriors are one the most yugi-esk cards that the old fans remember. He stopped using the gaias, curse of dragons, summoned skulls, etc. after season 2/3 but magnet warriors were introduced in season 2 and remained till the last ritual duel being a key part in his strategy to defeat the Egyptian gods.
So this is the Deck Yugi will use when your version of Jaden finally duels him. I would've also included Apprentice Illusion Magician since she has a Tricky-like effect and can add DM to your hand. Also, I have tried to make a Turbo Deck for Kaiba because he invented Synchro Summoning and let's face it, he would totally deck out a motorcycle to look like a Blue-Eyes White Dragon and have the Duel Stadiums play his theme song as he entered. The problem was that the Speed Spells were hard to use as substitutes for his normal spells.
I get that speed spell issue..... they are the entire reason why I don't like Turbo Duels in the 5Ds anime, I would recommend maybe ignoring that and doing something like what they did in the 5Ds manga or the Arc-V anime. No speed spell issues there.
@@Gop_delau_Nik20 "Master of Faster" was a title made-up by the dub... the original title was "Duel King", which to most dub watchers was previously known as "King of Games"..... So if Kaiba ever got the title from Yugi at some point, then Yes.
I like the profile, and the direction you went with it. That said I got more of a Atem feel, instead of a Yugi feel, as I watch it. As a possibility, I would like to see an alternative profile that featured his other iconic monsters such as Magnets, Celtic, Gadgets, Silents and Gandora. Okay, that and what Joey's deck could've been like in DSOD and/or GX. Anyone else wondered that, or just me?
*Silent Swordsman and Silent Magician sad noises* But more seriously I kinda like what you did there. I could honestly see Yugi work with this deck in future special movies or in voice actor exhibition matches
I understand that deck size constraints are a thing, but seeing as they're barely adhered to in the anime, I'd love to see a small Magnet Warrior (complete with Electromagnets, Berserkion & Imperion Magnum ofc) - and possibly also a Sentry Soldier of Stone - package added to the recipe (even if only as a side deck/alternative option). Nevertheless this video was *such* a cool idea and really does seem to fit Yugi perfectly; it would also give him a realistic chance of not getting left in the dust given the faster paced, more advanced game that Duel Monsters would have become. Seriously, if I had a dollar for everytime I've seen a nostalgia-blind fan declare (falsely) with chest that post-DM Yugi is the best duelist in the franchise & would easily beat every/any other character because 'KiNg Of GaMeS', I'd be even richer than Kaiba. Sure he went toe-to-toe with 'Prime' Jaden at the end of GX but there's no way that that same 'Prime' Yugi gets that kind of result if paired with other characters, such as Zane, Yusei, Don Thousand etc. in their respectives primes; with this deck though... I could legitimately see him running this and not getting curb-stomped. I particularly love the inclusion of potential combo monsters in the rare instance we'd see a tag duel, especially Dragoon since Yugi _could_ use it even without Joey's help - it would just require a scenario like Battle City to give him temporary possession of Joey's Red-Eyes. But yeah, I *love* this concept as it gives a plausible deck recipe to allow Yugi to be the competent duelist he's shown to be, while still giving him room to grow and learn (e.g he could always 'stumble across' appropriate Synchro/XYZ/Pendulum/Link monsters to bolster his deck, if a video series about continuing Yugi's journey hypothetically went in that direction). I would totally watch a series like that too if you were hypothetically making one but alas, you're totally not. Aaaaand if you've made it this far, thanks for coming to my TED Talk. 😂
THANK YOU! That's actually a huge part of why I wanted to make this series in the first place. Yeah, Yugi is great (even if no one really had great metadecks during Duel Monsters through Arc V) but there's no way he'd be able to take on Playmaker or anyone really during the later seasons without adapting to the faster pace of more modern Duel Monsters! Unless he begins to incorporate the various extra deck methods, the King of Games would get left behind! And I enjoyed your TED Talk! Thank you for writing it!
@@SpellCommander91 I agree and disagree. Yugi is the king of games so he will always be victorious in the end. He will beat Playmaker, but Playmaker wouldn't loose due to lack of skill but because he duels solely with vengeance in his heart which is what Yugi/Atem states repeatedly that you will never be able to beat him with. However it makes complete sense that Yugi will update his deck in accordance to his surroundings, growth, and experience. You can't be the king of games if you are stagnant.
@@SpellCommander91 I'd imagine Yugi would be adding Black Luster Soldier - Soldier of Chaos to his extra deck when fighting playmaker. One of my favorite cards ever.
Yugi is the greatest duelist of all time even above pharaoh stem. Zane, yusei, don thousand etc… are no match for him. That’s just his character hea just the goat. Yu yu takahashi wrote him like that and he is the creator of yugioh. Yugi is jordan u can say yusei is lebron. He has better statistics etc…. But both in their prime there’s no comparison. Yugi wins easily! Just like Jordan would sweep lebron. Yugi is the goat I don’t even think the jordan analogy does it justice since yugi is so above everyone else. His skill is so above everyone his closest rival is himself thousands of years ago lol
@@purplesky4157 I would say his rival would mostly be Seto kaiba since I could some what rival the Pharoah strength but it a tough match for yugi if he's dueling kaiba the dude who invention shynroc summoning and updated his deck the most times beside like Joey Yugi/Atem
For the Gaia monster, I would have chosen Gaia the Magical Knight since his ability to normal summon it to the field is very easy to pull off, plus it helps support the curse of dragon, cursed dragon by having it able to also special summon it from the hand or graveyard, giving him two monsters and a potential fusion monster for the price of 1 normal summon.
I would say, Specifically a post "Bonds Beyond Time" Jaden Deck. I would also LOVE to see a Yuma Deck that just.... Not such a confusing Mix of cards... like the Achacha cards and rairaider do very little to add to his XYZ Strategy.
Personally I just think it's missing 1 card His signature monster that he used on the movie While dark magician is the signature monster of yami and yugi The one which represents yugi alone is Gandora Personally 1 copy of either forms of gandora should be in the deck but that's just me And I guess we could see Joey or idk... Mai's deck next? I wonder what kind of strategy would she employ without access to the synchro harpie lady and those other extra deck methods harpies.
Really Dark Magician was always Atem's card. when it appears in Dark side of dimensions I kinda assumed that That was the card Yugi had kept to remember Atem by. honestly, Yugi's deck would either be Magician girl and gadget/electromagnet warriors.
For me Yugi should have two deck: one focused on Gadgets/Magnet Warriors an one focussed on Magicians/Warriors monsters. One common mistake that everyone makes is assume that Yugi's deck is basically a pure spellcasters deck with Dark magician as his only ace. But in reality, Yugi has more that one ace and is deck isn't always the same. He constantly change his deck depending on the opponent he is fighting with. In the final duel against Atem his deck was specifically built to play around the Egyptian gods and exploit the draw power of his opponent, in DSOD he builth his deck Specifically to counter Kaiba's hight Atk monsters with alot of battle based cards like the whole Magician Girl engine. So in conclusion Yugi doesn't have an ace in particular, sometimes is Gandora, sometimes is Dark Magician, Sometimes is Silent Magician... he always switch depending on who is dealing with.
I feel like celtic guardian should've been here along with some magnets mahad and mana feel more like yami exclusives since in the movie its implied mahad was added through magic. Other than that the list is great.
You didn't wanna make Yugi a complete monster and give him Red Eyes dark dragoon? I can imagine Kaiba's reaction if he got beat by a monster summoned using Joey's "pathetic" card.
I think we need a Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress retrain. Was always one of my favourites. Love the video. Always nice to see these Yugi cards being discussed.
"That I am definitely not writing." This will show up in the GX rewrite... won't it? Also, there are a lot more then just GX era cards appearing here..... guess Dsod really shoves a wrench into things powercreep wise. Also, there are a LOT more cards you could have added for Yugi here.... first to come to mind being the Silient Magician and Swordman that he got to use against Atem, as well as Gandora... then the gadgets, and the Magnet Warriors and Marshmelon. I kinda want them all to be represented but there is way to much shove all in one deck... hmm, is there a way to work around that? Like giving him multiple decks that he rotates around using?
Also I think Timeaus the Dragon of Destiny could fit in too as Pegasus could've decided to recreate the 3 Legendary Dragons into actual monster cards not spells
I kind of want to see how Joey’s deck would be. I read a fanfiction about Joey being a teacher at the GX Academy and seeing how you would interpret his luck based deck/ Red Eyes deck would be super cool!
@@purplesky4157 That’s a mistranslation, he was a top 5 favorite of Pegasus (along with Aster Phoenix and somebody else) but top 3 skilled duelist was never stated.
Since there’s been a lot of Blue-Eyes support over the years, let’s see a Deck Profile for Seto Kaiba. I’d definitely like to see how he uses some of the new Blue-Eyes support in the main series and not just in the Dark Side of Dimensions movie.
I've pondered this exact question so thanks for making a cool vid on it 👍 Edit: I'm surprised Apprentice Illusion Magician and Dark Magical Circle weren't included. Zane, Jaden, and Kaiba would be cool additions to this series
I feel like its more of a Yami deck profile than yugis tho i guess it is more in line with the last movie but since it is more of a Yami drak magician/chaos deck i feel like The Eye Of Tomias would be great as another fusion spell that would also give access to some other fusion monster it would'ne have worked in the context of the show, but so does this deck to some extant
You should also have videos on Seto Kiaba's Deck, Joey Wheeler's Deck, and also lastly Mai Valentine's Deck in the Yugioh GX Yugioh Anime and also Manga Series Era of Yugioh Duel Monsters too!
Three things that I would say the deck/side deck is missing are Yugi's unique aces that separated him from Atem. Gadgets + Gadget support traps, Silent Magician and Silent Swordsman, and a Gandora variant.
I'm actually surprised we didn't see Dark Sage in the Virtual World Arc during Yugi & Joey's tag duel against the Big Five. It would've been epic to see Joey pull his Time Wizard when both his Baby Dragon and Yugi's Dark Magician were on the field because then it would've been a double payoff for Time Wizard's effect.
Love your hypothetical future deck profiles for everyone. You should absolutely make some pseudo anime duel video with the decks you built for them. That would be tight... And by the way, I know you already did a Joey deck. But you should redo it but have him representing the Zexal era so he can have Xyz summoning for his Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon. Which is like the best piece of Red-Eyes support ever made. Either way, you are making some really cool content. Keep it up!
One card you missed that's a definite "Yugi" card while also holding the distinction of not being a "Yami" card - Gandora the Dragon of Destruction! I point it out because it featured in both of his important duels at the end of Season 5 as a card to distinguish him as separate and unique from Yami (as opposed to being "Yami-Lite"). (Plus he was still using it as "Gandora-X" during Dark Side of Dimensions)
@@jonathangeorge3789Really? I never noticed that. Now I wish there was a card that could tie in all the archetypes Yugi uses (magician, luster/Gaia, archfiend/skull, magnets, kuriboh, card knights, buster, and of course the gods)
I was born in the early two thousands so I might’ve heard it called the fusion deck but I definitely seen it called the Fusion deck when it was on my brothers game mats.
This felt more like a new yami deck. I would say a yugi deck would need gadgets and maybe even ancient gears since they combine support sometimes. I think yugi going with gadgets, ancient gear, and magnets would be super cool
Two cards that I think Yugi would have in his Side Deck if he duels against Dragon users would be "Bluster Blader, The Dragon Destroyer Swordsman" and "Destruction Swordsman Fusion"
At this point, I'd actually argue that The Shining Sarcophagus Deck would come after DSOD, considering it also has a Dark Magician variant, but also utilizes the cards that represented Yugi not needed Atem to fight his battles any longer. The same sentiment about him not wanting to bring back The Pharaoh is shown when Yugi gives Kaiba Monster Reborn during their duel in the film. Think that's the most ideal development for his journey. Though hopefully, there would be a Dark Magician Girl variant added as well post this comment.
I want to see a Joey video. A Zexal era deck would be nice, but I'd like to see some fun scenarios. What If rematch/tag team duels involving Joey with Yugi/Kaiba video using these decks you make would be nice.
I would like to see more of the profiles in the GX era, particularly the OG characters. What cards would they use in the GX era/modern era. Also, I'm surprised Red Eyes Dragoon isn't on. But I assume that's for Joey.
Sorcerer of dark magic and dark eradicator warlock are so hard to get on the field for me but once they get on the field it's practically a win for me XD
Curse of Dragon Fire and Sky Galloping Dragon Champion would’ve also been nice to mention as they’re more than just beat sticks. Along with the other retrains of Gaia.
I really love this profile! Do one for the other eras too, please. Some cards worth review; Monster Reborn, Guardian Chimera, Legacy of the Duelist, Destined Rivals, Joker's Knight, Breaker the magical warrior, Dimension Conjurer, Dark Magic Inheritance, Dark Magic Circle, Gateway to Chaos, Magician's Salvation, Mystical Elf - Mystical Burst Stream, Obnoxious Celtic Guard and Super Soldier Shield. Legacy of the Duelist lets yugi spam Souls and more efficiently deal with backrow. Guardian Chimera feels like a retrain, its super generic and is a power house. Destined Rivals is a searchable negate. Joker's Knight is a recurring body. The spell line up needs work because it requires very specific monsters be on the field while ignoring the spells that act as searchers.
I feel the problem with this deck is it’s disregarding the thing about the final duel with it just mainly being a Dark Magician deck. That is that both Yugi and Atem are two different people and that Yugi must grow into his own person. You disregarded that Yugi tend to play with tons of generic traps over spells. Yugi doesn’t have any cards from his old deck here, the gadget and magnets are toys and his deck theme is a boy growing to a man. Though I think the biggest problem with this deck is the exclusion of Silent Magician, you could have put the non level silent magician as it is a very important card as it was one of the monsters that helped his victory against Duke which was his first solo victory and was also Tea final attack on Bakura when they first fought. I think this is better off being called an Atem decklist if he ever returned or in a timeline where Atem won the final duel so he has to stay with Yugi
Overall I really like this, but I do have some suggestions: 1) I would have liked to see Marshmallon in place of Watapon or Big Shield Guardna as a reference to the final duel in DM. After all, this is Yugi's deck, not Atem's. 2) More draw power plz. Anime duels play a ton of cards, which is why they relied so heavily on Pot of Greed. The busted anime version of Card of Demise would also be a good option. 3) Speaking of busted anime versions, Relay Soul always made for a great dramatic turnarounds, and would be cool to see with his juiced up monsters. 4) Yu-Jo Friendship. Just because it would be funny to see him play a card with his face on it.
Really? How so? Forgive me on my lack of knowledge on the game mechanics, but I am curious since GX is my favorite and I just started watching VRAINS and love it. Would you please, tell me how Jaden would fare in that era in simple terms?
@@JakeSmith-mq5dc The 3 main HERO archetypes (Elemental, Destiny, and Evil) all have their own link monsters, and cards like Stratos have been released since his Era, plus I want to see his speed duel skills or if SpellCommander will just pull his Duel Links skills for use.
The silent cards would also work really well with the field spell. After all shutting down spells is what they excel at and they represent Yugi's growth. They were important enough to be in his Dark Side of Dimensions deck and I don't see him letting them go just as I don't see him not using dark magician.
Can't wait to see you do Kaiba, Joey, Mai, Marik, Ishizu, Odion, Rex, Weevil, Espa Roba, Mako, Pegasus, Rebecca, and Duke etc. given their support in the recent years Oh and I hope you do a 5DS decklist for Jaden given the Hero support he's gotten yeah he won't be turbo dueling much thanks to Speed Counters shutting down his Fusion Summoning with spells until his speed counters reach a certain numbers, BUT there are Traps that allow him to Fusion Summon and he still Contact Fusion except its weakness without Neo Space giving the field spell in Turbo Duels can't change
Great profile. Cards I would've liked to see in the profile would be timaeus and the fusions it makes with DM and DMG. As for next profile well you already did Yugi. Ya gotta do the Godfather of Games Joey Wheeler next amirite
Skilled Red Magician also tutors out any Archfiend monster. So you have a Skilled Magician for Dark Magician, Buster Blader, Gaia The Fierce Knight monsters and Archfiend monsters and by extension Summoned Skull.
Honestly Quinte Magician's no tribute effect is more of a help than a hindrance. What would you be tributing him for? It is basically the boss monster in this deck. Not to mention it eliminates Kaiju decks, (which was very popular in the GX era) and magic cards like soul transfer.
What was your guys opinions when Jaden went back in time to fight a younger Yugi and the spirit Yami period instead of fighting the grown-up king of games Yugi who beat Yami🤔 I thought it would be better if it was like that Pokemon game where gold fights red, and red is not still 10 he is at least 12 to 13, when 10 year old gold fights him. Don't get me wrong it was an awesome fight but I want it Jaden to fight final form Yugi Moto
Dsod movie is after of DM manga's timline not Anime's timeline. But I guess same deck can be for both timelines. However I'm wondering witch timeline comes after Dsod movie - Gx Anime or Gx manga, or it's different timeline?
Well he did a theory on how VRAINS is set in the original the manga timeline where the events of the Original manga and DSOD took place he even implies the events of the GX manga took place there too as an alternate telling of that show all with 5DS all the way to Arc-V
I think the Arisen Gaia is a mistake. Because he's a Gaia monster, not Gaia the Fierce Knight - so he can't be used for the Gaia fusion. Also there's no reason to even have cursed dragon since it can't even search out its Fusion Spell. So the main deck already has 2 bricks.
Really cool concept! But since these cards weren't released during the GX era, can you really call this a GX era Yugi deck? I kinda expected a deck profile of Yugi made using the cards available in the GX era. This profile seems more like a modern day profile to me :P Either way cool video!
Well if you wanna count BBT and DSOD and the support that came out from those. You could argue they fit into GX Though BBT in Yugi's Era is arguably after Battle City or Doma, but DSOD is post DM ending of the manga so if you wanna go by the Era of the GX manga they can fit
It's a known rule that Yugi's gotta have at least one banned card in his deck, so maybe Magical Scientist? And show some love to Chimera and the Magnet Warriors? No Magical Hats? I recently made a Magical Hats retrain that I think would work in Yugi's GX deck: Quantum Trick Hats (Normal Trap) "Activate this card by Banishing 1 Spell/Trap Card from your hand. Select and Set 2 Spell/Traps from your Deck (except during the Damage Step), then Set and shuffle all cards on the field, Setting them to either the Main Monster Zones or Spell/Trap Zones; all Set cards in the Main Monster Zones are treated as monsters until the End Phase. For the rest of the turn after this card resolves, if your opponent would Summon a monster or activate a Spell, Trap, or Monster effect, he/she must first pick and Flip face-up a Set card on the field at random, and if that card is a Trap Card, Quick-Play Spell Card, Flip Effect monster, or monster with a Quick Effect, that card's effect is immediately activated as if it were owned by you. During the End Phase, Flip all Set cards on the field face-up (Flipped Spell/Trap cards are not activated at this time), then destroy all Spell/Trap cards on the field." Nice deck profile. I'd love to try this deck out.
This is a nice deck list, but I’m not sure how well it fits. First of all, DSOD is in the manga continuity, which is pretty different from the anime continuity, even when contained to the Duel Monsters era, so I’m a bit iffy when it comes to using that movie as evidence of what he’d have in his deck in GX. Secondly, I feel that Yugi would include Gandora, the Gadget monsters, and the Silent monsters, or at least retains of them, in his deck. DSOD did something like that, and I feel that it makes sense for both the manga and anime versions of Yugi. These are the cards that symbolized him becoming independent. So even though I think he’d still have Dark Magician related cards, I also think that not having his Millennium World monsters makes little sense.
I get some of the newer cards like the magician girls and bond between teacher cuz they showed up in the movies where canonically his deck was made before gx happened... But magikuriboh came out LAST WEEK dude.
Great what if video! I have a very small nitpick tho, DSOD Yugi is manga Yugi, and GX Anime Yugi most probally is the DM anime Yugi, it wouldnt change in anyways your deckbuilding anyways
I have an idea, but for a different question: What if Super Heavy Samurais were an Xyz deck instead of a Synchro deck? As in, what if Gong had fought that Constellar user instead of the X-Saber user? Also, I understand why Monster Reborn wasn't included, symbolism of the way it was used in the ceremonial duel and whatnot, but I am kinda disappointed that you didn't really mention it.
You missed the magnet warriors and Granadora :( He continues to use them in the movie, even the new additions! Also I believe Mahad was Atem's card, not Yugi's, with Atem manifesting it using his magic powers.
This would be really sick- but you NEEDED Dark Magical Circle in the main deck, that card was a backbone for DM decks and does everything for them - removal AND Searching?? Nuts Edit: I also REALLY think you should've kept the silents in the deck. They're pretty solid monsters for the time, especially silent magician, and really important for yugi as a person. I'd put them in the main and gaia in the side. Edit 2: I also really wanted to see Block Dragon and some rock support, as well as one of the Gandora retrains.
