This updated install process is SO much smoother It wasn't the hardest thing before of course but I factory reset my Deck because it was running weird and getting up and running is going a lot quicker than I expected

Note. If u r on beta release, then u may need to do decky prerelease. A. Bug in the new beta release removed decky and di not let u install. It was reported fix in prerelease decky on Monday. Need to test when I get home

I got it running by going desktop, dolphin, homebrew is where decky lives and just rename homebrew to anything I went with homebrew_

Mine opens up like a console command when I go to double click it to install it. It opens in “Kate” and after that idk what to do. I don’t have an option for release

Vibrant Deck was causing a really fast Battery decrease when I used it compared to it being off.

yeah I noticed it too, I'll just wait for valve to add a native saturation setting to steam os which is probably likely in the future

the plug icon didn't show up for me after installing decky loader. i tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. i tried enabling and disabling developer mode. i also made sure deck is set to receive stable system updates. all to no avail. help please.

I just reset my Deck and am giving it a makeover. In the early days we had to install too much stuff and it took a lot of time and software piled on software is never a good thing.

I had Decky Loader installed but did a Steam update this morning and now Decky is gone, so I went and installed it again and still nothing. So Steam evidently broke it with their update. It installs but it just doesn't show up. Steam v3.4.6

@@GameTechPlanet I went into settings and set updates from Beta back to Stable and it downloaded an update and it was back so maybe their beta broke it, idk. Anyways it's fixed now so all is well.

I’m trying to install it but the sudo password is still required for me. I’m not sure why that’s the case as my steam deck is up-to-date with no available updates. Unless if you have a password and it requires it then, then I’m not sure

Don't get me wrong some of the plugins in decky loader are awesome...but.... For a lot of people including myself adding Deck and some of the plugins really slow the performance down on my steam deck... FPS and battery life as well as general crashes every now and then Install it twice just to make sure both times same results also I was on the stable channel just to be transparent

@K 45Oz don't know what you mean but I will try to answer anyway... So all my performances/graphics was drastically downgraded like games I had running at smooth frame rates where now a slide show like 34 when it ran at 60 before decky some games dropped below 30...mostly tripleA games took the biggest hit...the whole system slowd down in general I would also get crashing when I would bring up the performances over lay... I uninstall twice just to test and had the same result both times I installed decky... now this a bit hit and miss as some has had the same issue and some had no problems at all I guess.. I was using the stable channel to be clear.

Or showed same problem? -I do get what you mean, imo power tools and other plugings that add/change things like music sound or even the boot up, will in fact, slow the device, I had slowdowns as well at first, just using vibrant deck and steamgrids and switch like themes an running fine, same as always

@K 45Oz Yes so when Decky loader was installed I got the problems once I remove decky both times all the problems went away.. Also forgot to state that the 2nd time I installed a decky loader I only put vibrant deck because that was the real plug in I wanted The rest of them are cool but I can live without but vibrant deck was a game changer for me because of steam decks washed colors... Don't get me wrong ..don't want to sound like I'm bashing the steam deck I LOVE!!! this device... But unfortunately still only having vibrant deck gave me the same issues... So for the time being I'm just gonna hold out and And hope they add a saturation setting natively which at this point is a no brainer.. Plugins are awesome but for me specifically on the stable channel just wasn't worth the trade off... Now with all that being said I do appreciate the work that the developers put into this So I'm still rooting for them just to be clear.

Same here. My issue this last time that broke the camels back was I lost ALL sound in game mode. I had it when I went to desktop and would test the speakers. Could’ve been from the rocket league sounds I was using. Idk. But I ended up wiping my deck and I’m basically vanilla now. No issues what so ever.

You kind if lost me. In order for these tutorials to be dumny proofed, ALWAYS delete and do a fresh install of what you're showcasing. The pros have 2 decks and use one for video purposes. That way it will be button click for button click identical.

@GodT, right click the file and click open with dolphin. Then double click the file and when prompted to open, click execute instead of open.

@@MouathAlawadhi yea absolutely. Soon as I realized i was going to have to make guides i tried lay them out decently. The deck is definitely work but I love it as well. I go back and forth from windows to steamos all the time. Steamos is definitely the soul of the deck tho.

I've uninstalled, installed from console and the installer package and no matter what, when i go to game mode, there is no plugins folder on the 3 dots menu

Check your update channel in gaming mode, set it to stable and decky should show up after a restart, if it doesn't, reinstall decky

Are you running steam os stable? If your preview or beta it usually doesn’t work. Change to steam os stable if not alrdy and it should show up. If not reinstall decky at that point
