Fun fact: this episode trended like crazy on a global scale, and when people not aware of the anime saw #DeclarationofWar appear, they thought WW3 or something was beginning.
Because at this point we haven’t seen Armin yet. We know something is going on and Pieck says twice she knows that person and had seen them before. At this point we start assuming the rest of the gang is here and we see a single blond person sporting a fake beard. I think that was a deliberate misdirection on the show-runners part.
I'd really like to know how Armin became this scientific prodigy that revolutionized and sidestepped decades of Eldian technological evolution. Me thinks they're giving him a little too much credit at this point. Plus, if anyone was capable, it'd be bei Hange.
Annie was adopted but her biological father isn't Kenny, she only mentioned it because she was stalking Kenny and needed some excuse as to why she was following him when he confronted her
@@jreefer7678 they've long since finished the series, but it looks like they shot the vids for these eps back to back to back so they didn't have time for their patreon viewers to set them straight. It's like they get new stimulus and suddenly forget everything they've been told previously. Same with yelena being mistaken for armin. They sound nothing alike.
Eren really said “he just like me fr fr” and then proceeded to rob the little sanity and hope Reiner had in that fleeting moment. Truly incredible moment. Gotta feel bad for Falco. Only person that we see in Marley that sees through the propaganda. Very similar mind to Armin. Tough.
Noooo ! You didn't conntect it !! The uprising on Paradis this is Grisha who stole the Founding titan to the Reiss family. Of course it's true. Don't you remember that they overthrow the government on Paradis and enthroned Historia as queen in season 3 ? Now the royal family doesn't have the Founding titan anymore. It's Eren, because Grisha stole it from the royal family and gave it to Eren, his son.
I don’t understand how they thought Annie is Kenny’s daughter, she was obviously just telling some pity party story to cover her ass when he caught her following him. He was too smart to fall for it and she had to hurry up and escape cuz she couldn’t allow him to catch her. But it is hard to track sarcasm in different languages I guess. If she were an Ackerman she would not be able to be a titan shifter, the Ackermans are immune & safe from the kings will. They were made specifically to NOT turn into titans and to protect the king. I can really blame them for thinking the one chick was armin tho I think lots of ppl did at first…till armin actually shows up. Seems like they miss important things to overthink the not important things.
Seriously J&J don't recognize Eren's voice even tho they heard him during 60 episodes. But they recognize Annie's father's voice after hearing him talk 17 sec months before ? Like wtf. 😂
‘Azumabito’ is an old Japanese term for ‘Asians’. The literal translation is ‘people of the East’. ‘Hiizukoku’ is another term Japanese people are familiar with. In a diplomatic document with China, Japan described their country as such. The literal translation is ‘Land of the Rising Sun’.

31:01 The Uprising Arc was basically Season 3 part 1. --We were told that Grisha stole the Founding Titan from the Reiss (Fritz) family which is currently in Eren's possession. --Rod Reiss, with the help of Kenny, tried to take it back by supposedly letting Historia eat Eren. --Kenny realized how the Coordinate only fully works with a descendant of royal blood so he turned his back against Rod. --Historia rejected the pacifist ideology and refused to become the Founder, freed Eren and went against her father. --They killed Rod and Historia assumed the mantle as the new Ruler of the Walls--which was already prepared ahead of time by Erwin, when they overthrew the dummy government that protected the royal bloodline. This now upsets the balance of Paradis to the world that King Fritz had maintained via the Vow of Renouncing War because the Coordinate is not in the hands of the King's descendants.
it starts at ep1s1. that's when it gets good. unlike other anime where you have to let them cook for so long. even tv shows like the office took a whole season..
As I've said take things at face value sometimes, its not all mysteries or a big plot. The uprising was literally season 3 part 1, where they overthrew the Fritz(Reis) and took control of the island, after stealing the founding titan. Willy's whole speech can be summed up like this; "King Fritz wanted peace as long as his family(the Reis) has the founding titan we're good, Eren has the founding titan he is big mad, millions of colossal titans, were fucked". You guys get caught up at the little things sometimes you fail to see the bigger picture, just my two cents. EDIT: 41:50 he had a cut in his hand remember, he just triggered the transformation because Willy's speech is about to end.
When tybur said he didn’t want to die because he was born into this world we can see eren open his eye as hope of things changing because that’s the same line he said before but then see him get disappointed when he tybur says everyone to join forces. Just like he said in the last episode on how the future didn’t change as much as he tried to somehow change it
This episode is a masterpiece of mise en scène : the build up with the switch btw the play and Eren&Reiner convo and the other things happening at the same time + the music flow through the whole thing!.....so so good!!!! Eren Reiner and Willy's VAs did a terrific job Every time I rewatch this episode I'm more and more impressed with it
come on man, you guys overnanalyse things nd end up losing the very simple point. They overthrew the royal family and grisha stole the founding titan, that's the uprising
Great reaction to one of the most legendary episodes in anime history, so much so that when it first aired (January 10-11, 2021; Attack On Titan was broadcast on Japanese television shortly after midnight), social media went crazy when the hashtag "DeclarationofWar" was a worldwide trending topic and no one who knew about the series thought World War III had broken out. By the way, I'm glad to know that you didn't fall into one of the controversies of this episode: the choice of the track for the scene in which Eren is going to transform, the track titled *TWO-lives* (composed by Hiroyuki Sawano for the second season). There were a lot of people who expected to play the track titled *YOUSEEBIGGIRL/T:T* (the iconic track that played when Reiner and Berthold revealed themselves as the armored and colossal titans in that unforgettable episode 2x6) or something similar, and there were quite a few fans who criticized Mappa for not having used it at that moment. However, it seems to me that TWO-lives is perfect for the scene because it maintains the tension of the scene without spoiling the outcome in advance until Eren says "Until I destroy my enemies" and it has also been used for other good moments in the series (for example, it plays when Eren uses Annie's grappling techniques to fight Reiner during the second season). PS: If someone comments that the track used is a similar one titled *2Volt* (another track composed by Hiroyuki Sawano for the second season that sounded in other iconic moments of the series (Marlo's death, Hange squad vs Colossal Titan, the moment when Eren receives Grisha's memories for the first time, and the first Levi vs Zeke fight), I thought the same but I checked and it seems that Declaration of War episode used TWO-lives and not 2Volt.
I'm sure you guys already know this by now but 1) Annie's not Kenny's daughter. She just pulled an ironical excuse after she got caught by him to distract him and quickly attack. And Kenny played along with another joke (talking about her being already in a rebellious phase lol) 2) Magath and Willy knew about Paradis's people infiltration. Remember the scene with them at the theater the day before? They talked about the "house" having "problems" and being "infested with rats". That's why Willy talks about the huge burden which rests on his shoulders and Magath is so wary of any possible hint of enemy attack, not to mention he already knew that the play wasn't a mere revelation of truth through an enjoyable spectacle, but about the official declaration of war against the island, to lure Eren&friends. 3) The uprising they talk about is the theft of the founding titan by Grisha. And since all this info about Paradis comes from Reiner, the sole warrior to come back from the mission, they also knew the royal family and the old government who supported Fritz's ideology had been ousted (with Historia and Paradis's 'pro-scouts' military) 4) Pay attention to Eren's lines "I'm the same as you" and "i think we were just born this way". If you deeply think about it they're not just about their fates and what context made them do, but MAINLY because just like Reiner, Eren saw the other side, got to know it wasn't a whole mere bunch of evil monsters, and yet he still decides to move forward and destroy for the sake of his childish and obsessive dream (Eren's concept and freedom vs Reiner's desire to be a world hero living in a normal family). Reiner did the same, he openly said he wished he'd never known the truth about the island's devils because he grew fond of them, but to save the world, live proudly with his family and preserve his own life he had to move forward fighting the scouts to death, to retrieve the founding titan. This parallel and "innate inclination" stuff will be much more important in the future By the way, great reaction as always :)
The "recent uprising" they're referring to is Grisha stealing the founding titan from the royal family and giving it to Eren, ending Karl Fritz's era of peace and the coup d'etat the scouts did in season 3. Willy claims that Eren could activate the rumbling at any moment, but it's worth pointing out that it's clear that they don't know that Eren isn't a member of royal family nor the fact that non-royal eldian with founding titan needs to be in-contact with royal blood titan to activate the coordinate. Also, Reiner saw Eren use the founding titan at the end of season 2, he most likely told Marley about it and the conclusion they and the Tyburs came to was that Eren is of royal blood who has stolen the founder, somehow managed to bypass the vow renouncing war and think he is a threat based on the fact that they have overthrown the peaceful government and are fighting back.
Willy speech in dub is fantastic, I hope you guys feel the same. The VAing and script is top tier. "Once the walls of Paradis begin to walk There will be nothing we can do Except flee in vain from the sound Of earthshaking steps that will herald our doom These monsters will crush every city Trample every tree and flower They will literally flatten our world" I get chills every time
You LITERALLY watched 12 episodes, HALF A SEASON, of the Survery Corps taking down the king, and you don't know what "uprising" they're talking about????????
@@basedchang2501 bro chill they still grasp things episode by episode, even thanks to some comments. We're judging by the perspective of already knowing all the plot. It's not that they forgot about the uprising arc or grisha stealing the founding titan, they thought about another uprising during the timeskip. In a first reaction where you try to analyze and understand everything, sometimes making these kind of mistakes is human. Every one of us did at least once, following AoT the first time
29:07 Nope, Piek was over there, but Armin that she saw was burnt to nearly dead. Btw, I knew that you guys finished the story for months, just wanna point this one cause almost everybody thought that was Armin, even myself back in the day 😂
A few people have said this, but it actually would make perfect sense for Pieck to have seen him before he was burnt. She was obviously around before that. She easily could’ve seen him
There's some moments where AOT reaction channels should watch three consecutive episodes in one go (the first iteration was Perfect Game/Hero/Midnight Sun) and the next three are The Warhammer Titan/Assault/Assasins Bullet... PLEASE consider uploading a single video reacting to the next three episodes! Loving your reactions and I'm looking forward to the next ep(s) 👀
I have an explanation for you. The uprising in Paradis is meant to be Grisha's theft of the Founding Titan from the Reiss family. Which is now in Eren's possession
I know youre already finished with the series, but its pretty clear that the uprising reffered to in this episode is all that happened in previous seasons, not something that happened over the timeskip.. aka eren's father usurping the founding titan - is the paradis uprising
If the first king's goal was to make the Eldian people die in atonement, why did he take that many people to the island in the first place? Why not go alone with the minimum amount of people if we wanted a brief "paradise"? Why create three walls at all? Why not one? These questions always bother me watching AoT? Does somebody have answers?
He did not want to offer a paradise to a minimum of people but to a maximum. But one thing that no one talks about is that he may have done this while he was influenced by the Eren who transcend time and space after touching ymir
I don't want to give away any spoilers so I can't say too much, but I will point out one thing you might have misunderstood: Annie's father is not Kenny.😅 Mr. Leonhart, who appears this time, is Annie's father.
I hated this speech, it resembled reality’s politics, it was supposed to convey the truth, inform people that the generational hate was unnecessary, apologize for their stupidity that caused chaos, and to announce that they would start the peace conversation with Paradis, yet they kept twisting facts to make the point that their actions were justified and they are still in a powerful position, they knew they are in a terrible position but refused to accept that their power has faded, they couldn’t let go of the domineering arrogance If only they stopped sending titans to that land, none of this would happen, the whole uprising would not have happened, they have to blame themselves for stirring shit
The only fact that Willy twisted was that Eren could start the rumbling at any moment, which isn't true because he needs a titan of royal blood. Everything else he said was true. Eren actually proved Willy right by becoming the very devil he described him as.
@@Trofnoker Willy seems to know all too well what is supposed to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if Karl's departure was motivated in part by the one who would be the last holder of the Founding Titan. Who had told him part of the future and Karl had warned the Tybur family that Eren would eventually arrive... and what it would mean
They distorted the truth. To twist the truth means to present facts in a way that exaggerates one side and diminishes the rest. Someone might say everything accurately but then highlight a single detail to misrepresent the full story. That’s what they did-they painted a narrative where Marley’s actions were meaningless atp and can’t be rectified, as if there was no other path forward. They framed Eren as the ‘thief of the titan’ and a threat of the island, labeling the Eldians on Paradis as ‘island demons,’ rather than humans hoping for peace. They imposed their version of reality once again, disregarding the truth of that moment, that there is still a time for reconciliation. It was not the truth that Eren would do rumbling, yet they made it truth by pushing the conflict to the edges. It’s like saying someone looks suspicious let’s put them in jail to prevent them from committing crimes. And while they didn’t technically lie about the rumbling, since they didn’t know Eren needed royal blood, they still assumed he could trigger it at any time, and to be honest if he could trigger it at any moment he would not wait for 4 years, and they are dead anyway, it’s not like they can stop him from doing rumbling if he has all control. They needed to reconcile at that moment instead of war announcement, that’s my point, but yeah viewers always like to ignore this fact.
Day 49 of spreading the faith in our Lord, The Fool 🙏. Hope you two check out the trailers for Lord of The Mysteries, a chinese anime(donghua) coming out next year. The rest of the comment is a small glimpse of why you should watch it as it is one of the greatest webnovels ever written and it even joined the national library of China earlier this year with how big it is over there. With the way you like to analyze everything you will love it as the biggest charm of it is unraveling mysteries and how things work. Absolute masterpiece of a story even though the first arc is off-putting for a lot of people since it's setting up the base for the entire world with alot of informations given to us. It's going as far as setting up a real currency and political system for every countries. We got confirmation that every episode will be more than 30 minutes long with at least 12 episodes for 5 seasons confirmed which would translate to half of the book (volume 4/5 out of 8) It has one of the greatest power systems in anything I've seen/heard of and changes genres throughout time. We got more than 10 pathways each starting from sequence 9 then sequence 8 etc with each of them having different abilities and needing a ritual to go to the next level. The fun fact here is that the higher you go, the more likely you are to become insane, so people that are your teammates today will become horrible monsters tomorrow. It starts off as a mystery/horror/police thing as we follow a team of policemen tasked to destroy evil beings in their city and it expands much more into an epic/horror/historical tale that knows no bounds. The secondary characters are very memorable since we get their point of views for a while from time to time. The main character uses his cheat to act as a god and make his own cult which becomes the main cast. The antagonists are TERRIFYING and bully the others throughout the whole show (they're here since episode 1 lol) Definitely recommend reading at least the first volume before the anime comes out.
Why im here, why im here. Nah u really disrespectful my man. U killed my mom, and then pretended to be my friend running around to find the killers. Sit down cuz
