Which piece of decluttering advice did you find the most helpful?

Putting your phone down, most definitely. Have you heard of the minimalist phone, "the Light Phone?" I'm definitely considering it, myself.

These are all such good tips! I think the Declutter as You Live is the best because this habit can become second nature with everything we touch (and is so helpful with clothes)! Thanks for another great video!

Declutter as you live! That was such an epiphany for me! I realized I’d been asking the wrong question. Can I use this? Will I use this? DO I USE THIS?? I had two complete sets of dinnerware that had been used no more than 2 or 3 times in over 30 years. I could use them, I might use them, but I DON’T use them. Today they went to the donation center. The domino effect is amazing! I moved extra drinking glasses, mugs, wine glasses from my daily use cabinets and have them easily accessible when we have company. Because I have to relocate each item I can choose to put them in the newly cleared space or in a donation box. Next I brought stuff from the top shelf to the middle shelf where I can see it and reach it with no overcrowding. Why was I storing things I used on the top shelf when I needed a step stool to get them down and put them away?? Of course, top shelves of cupboards always have forgotten treasures. I took 2 things off my shopping list and the rest to the donation box. Thank you very much for doing what you do!

It's hard to take the time to get rid of things but when you setup your life in a minimalist way, it's so much easier to declutter afterwards

I can say the biggest tip I found was exactly the first you mentioned. Putting my phone down. I found I was filling my days/gaps in the day with social media/entertainment. Once I put limits on my phone in the settings (couldn't trust myself without them), suddenly, the days felt longer. I was able to have more productive working times and have time to clean/declutter. Definitely a key aspect of my minimalist journey. Great work as always friend!

I glad to hear this resonated with you Jacob. I believe many of us can relate to that first point. If we put our phones down we’ll definitely have more time to get done what needs to be done. Keep growing my friend!

As a Latina, I clean with music on LOL.... I would like to send all of my decluttering energy to everyone here who finds it a bit difficult, overwhelming or even exhausting to declutter....I am blessed with decluttering as my happy place...sadly...I don't have anything else to declutter anymore so I have to create other uses for my time....I am sending you all lots of love, enthusiasm, spring in your step vibes that this moment, right here you make your decision to liberate yourself of things that no longer serve a purpose in your life...wishing you all a happy declutter, a cleaner space and a happy spirit.

I consider myself a “professional declutterer” at home and I help others declutter and organize their own homes. I cannot agree more with your “declutter as you go” suggestion! Why not declutter when you come across an item or piece of clothing that doesn’t cut it anymore? I am fortunate to have some extra space so those items “live” in that space until I have enough to warrant a donation drop-off. I’m always amazed that I come across more to declutter after years of decluttering. I always enjoy your videos and ideas, Ron. Thank you!

Loved a comment towards the end ... Consistency is more important than intensity. Trying to work that in to more areas than one .. decluttering, cleaning ... and so far it has been a huge benefit!

I don’t know if this confirms that I’m living in a simulation, but as I was working out this morning I started thinking about how difficult it’s been to find time to declutter. I decided that I would go on RU-vid later today to look up some tips to declutter with a busy schedule, and this is the very first video that popped up on my subscription list. This life gets more strange by the day… Anyway, thank you so much for the video, Ron! These tips were incredible and I can’t wait to put them to use!

Definitely putting the phone down, it's the best thing you can do. I have often picked my phone up when supposed to be doing something and ended up doing nothing because I was on my phone too long xx

I don't like to consider myself a "busy person", but I know and understand that sometimes, life can get busy depending on how much I pack into my daily or weekly schedules. As an introvert then, one thing I would consider is decluttering or minimizing the amount of activities I have per day or week. PS: I definitely resonate with the first tip the most! Easier said than done? Yes. Will I feel more productive though if I use my phone less? Yes. Thank you! :D

The TV is the hard one for me bc I have to have background noise when I'm doing any chores, purging, decluttering, etc. I will put it on a show that I've already seen too many times, that way I know I won't "accidentally" hear something on the show and get invested in the show and drop what I'm doing, cuz ya know, ADHD 🤦‍♀️😭🤣

Yes, I do know the game you mentioned! This is very helpful, I have been feeling very overwhelmed lately with decluttering and feeling like I don't have time to really put towards it. I agree that the phone one is bigger than we realize. We have so many distractions in our world. Phones are addictions at this point, and they're always glued to our hip. I think I'm going to challenge myself to put the phone away for a whole night or even a whole day. I find that I'm always tempted to look to see if I've missed anything. It's very time consuming when you think about it and all the apps you give your attention to!

When it comes to big tasks it’s so easy for me to get overwhelmed and the anxiety that that causes ultimately results in never beginning the task at all. My therapist did tell me to take big tasks and break them down into much smaller and more manageable tasks over time. But even the idea of coming up with that sort of plan was overwhelming as I couldn’t figure out what that would look like / where to start. Until this video. Thank you so much for doing what you do! Wishing you and your wife nothing but peace and blessings 🙏🏻

Always helpful! Scheduling time and thinking of minimalism as my hobby are the two I think will work well for me. I know I need to limit social media time, so scheduling declutter time will help with that too, I think.

I like to declutter as I live but every now an again I take the 30 day challenge. Today's the 9th so out with 9 items, tomorrow's the 10th so 10 items and so on. With the holidays coming up and some online purchases arriving, I make a point to fill the boxes immediately for donating.
