This song is a great example of how each player in the Beatles left a lot of space so the other contributions could be heard. It weaves together so beautifully.
George really played great on the Rooftop Concert - his solos are so inventive as well as all of his guitar parts that really add beautifully to each song - to be able to hear his parts isolated after all this time is a joy
I just love how you did this! The separated guitars are fantastic. I just love George on this song! For someone who quit the band and didn’t want to go on the roof, George sure gave it a 110%. I could listen to his part over and over.
It's really great to be able to hear the guitars separately while watching them play, since it was filmed. I'm inspired to learn this song so that I can get comfortable playing those shapes; being able to see how John is playing is really inspiring.
Actually in watching this again it's a bit disconcerting how the filmmakers almost completely obscured him the whole time. Especially given that Billy's presence helped to energize the band and smooth out some of the tensions they have been having, it seems disrespectful that they left him out of the filming.
John's unique picking style, which involves moving only his wrist, arose because the Coffman Vibratola on his early Rickenbacker guitars could not be folded.
