Hey everyone! I noticed a lot of people asking how we're going to disinfect the trees. For pieces that are too big to fit in the oven, the best way to clean them off is to pour several rounds of boiling water on them, followed by a dousing of either F10 or chlorahexadine, and finally, several hours in the sun on a day with a high UV-index. :)

Can we take a moment to appreciate, that Ed really is a man of many talents? He's good with the camera, he worked at IT, he lifts heavy things, he's so adorable with all different kinds of animals and he can even chop down trees! Nice work Ed! And of course nice work Emily! if after you spray the expanding foam and wait about 10-15 minutes till the outer layer has dried to the touch then you can just push it down and kind of deflate it then you don't have to trim it off, a little tip I learned from SerpaDesign

You talked about the animals feeling safe and secure. At the last zoo, I went to, the rattlesnake was so well hidden, that he was right up at the glass by my hand and I didn't see him till he wiggled a little LOL. I was like "Well, I would have been a goner in the wild."

For your picnic table idea, you could just get regular tables and then swap out the outermost boards or the bench part for something with a live edge to match your benches!

I love how much they care for these animals, this is a job and they still manage to make sure that their animals get the best, like pet smart is a multi million dollar industry yet they are too greedy to spend some money on the animals, while Ed and Emily are doing everything that they can to make their animals happy

Paul has a beautiful voice and voice cadence, he should narrate books or do a podcast or all of the above, No it's not the Aussie accent, my husband is Australian. Between him and the in laws and friends I hear the accents of Oz a lot. It's his voice!! Paul, if you are reading this, PLEASE narrate books. I love books on CD, a narrator can make or break a story! You have the IT factor!!

@@kaitlynwilkins5420 It´d have to stay at boiling water temp (or at least over 60 C) for a while if you want to kill microbes. Just pouring it over and letting it cool down immediately won´t get rid of everything. Don´t know how important that is though.

How do you sterilize the branches? They’re too big for an oven sterilization.

That and let them dry in the sun, preferably on a rack of some kind. The sun is well known for its ability to sterilize things. And if it's just a branch and not a whole log you're trying to sterilize, you might be able to boil it in a huge pot of water(at least that's what I do for my fishtanks). It's okay if it sticks out, so long as you turn it over at some point so every part gets the treatment. Boiling is great at getting out tannins(which you may or may not want, depending on the style you want in the water, if you want that tea-stained look, don't boil them super long), but be warned that I don't know if it's recommendable to do that for a reptile enclosure even if you dry it out.

I don't know if you guys have thought about this but for the cave themed enclosure you could get real or fake bones to put on the ground to make it look like somethings been living there for awhile and for more surfaces for the animal to explore!

When I think of a functional wood table with bark, I think epoxy. You get the look you want while having it flat to be functional
