Love the videos. The clear realy brought out the color of the slip. Just a side note. Some of your commentary was only in the left channel. Not a complaint just so you know something was off in pist production. Thank again for great videos

Today, I mix red Mason with porcelain slip to make a cup on a plaster mold. Can wait to see how the color turns out on cone 10.

Hi, Marie. Thanks for another great video. I have what may be a silly question. I am just a beginner potter but I already have created some things people are interested in. Trying to figure out how much my pots are worth is a challenge I know many potters face. Out of curiosity, do you know of any sites that allow you to auction off your pottery? I haven't found one yet and I would think auctions would be a great way to maximize your revenue. Set a minimum bid and see what comes of it. Just curious. Thanks.

Love this video! I think I have some pink mason stain left. When I tried it in glaze it burned off into an ugly green. I am going to be rewatching your slip videos. Want to try some monoprinting. Why? I don't know lol. That you for being a great teacher

@@PotteryCrafters my clay requires cone 6. I think that I remember reading that pinks are hard to get at higher Temps. Although my kilns like to surprise me with irregular temperatures

Hi Carol. That is a very good question. No, I never took them off the bat. I let the pot get leather hard, then applied the slip. After that, I took them off the bat. But you can take them off the bat, re-center them and hold them in place with clay logs and apply the slip. 😊

Could you mix underglaze & colored slip? Like if I paint the background with underglaze could I add thick slip over it without any issues?

Good Question. Yes you can. I have done it with no issues. It is best to use the same clay slip as the clay piece 😊

Question regarding Underglazes & Colored Slips with greenware - are there any specific advantages/disadvantages to one medium vs the other? TIA :)

Hi Robert. Yes, there is. Slip is mainly applied to greenware. Underglaze can be applied to both bisqueware and greenware. Thank you for the video! Could you please clarify what dryness your pots are before decorating with the slip? Also, do you dry them to bone dry any differently than you would normally? Sometimes I find when I decorate with slip, it cracks while drying :(

Hi Violet. Yes you can. Those were bisque fired to cone 04 then clear glazed and fired to cone 5. Did you mean firing to 04 then 5?

why do people always measure their clay i mean measure their weight before kneading or wedg

Very good question Ayshah. So you get an idea of how much clay you need for your project. Example - If you are making a small mug, you need a pound of clay. A bigger mug may need 1 and a half to 2 pounds of clay. You may want to make the same item again, and you know how much clay you used.😊
