Dichroic glass offers the fascinating ability to appear in different colors when viewed from various angles. Unlike laminated films, it is a single, solid sheet of glass, boasting high resistance to scratches and chemicals. Additionally, it is easy to clean.
The reflective layer of dichroic glass is achieved through a sophisticated process. An electron beam in a vacuum chamber is used to vaporize an array of transparent metal oxides, such as titanium, chromium, and aluminum. This vapor then condenses on the glass substrate, forming a crystalline structure that contributes to the glass's unique optical properties.
