Did you know that when we're outside of the ice zone, we can see a big blue moon and a smaller red moon ? Well, they're Menphina and Dalamud. At least that's what the map design is saying. When i figured out, i was mindblown lol

@@AzureRoxe I know, but we didn't know going in that the prayers of people were altering the gods to match So I never assumed a manmade satellite would have actually created a godly hound

I regret to inform you that as with nearly all the music in this game, the fiddler is synthetic.

@@doctorcoke5072 considering that Costa del sols music supposedly includes a maraca made from a cup noodle cup filled with toothpicks and mints, I would say that it's less synthetic than one might think. Probably alot of heavily edited sampling to be sure.

@@DaemonetteBait sorry but most if not all video game music is synthetic especially final fantasy games. the only game soundtrack that I know of as recent that isn’t synthesis at all, played with real instruments is bloodborne and that soundtrack is leagues beyond any other game

I went in for the first time with a blind pf. As a scholar... And for some reason, I was the only healer in our party. Gained nothing except nightmares.

I was dying cause I couldn’t see anything the colours and brightness of the place was awful, was hard to see aoe markers

they really crank up the visual for this raid.

The fiddle gave me Ace Combat vibes for a minute... But then again, the theme for Emerald Weapon way back in 5.4 gave off some serious Ryu Ga Gotoku vibes.

Yep! It is Menphina after all. Goddess of Love and the Moon , gives off major Sailor Moon vibes. I wouldn't be surprised if this played while Sailor Moon transformed into her ultimate form. haha

Not the same song I know, but in the mid-bosses theme I could hear bits of Azys lla.(Although that song had a bunch of leitmotifs.)

I wonder why they are referencing the lochs theme specificaly, i dont recall any menphina worship there. Is it cause the lochs contain salt water and moons are responsible for the tides?

@@kairitrioncerulean8502 This games soundtrack uses letitmotif after leitmotif, is highly possible the motif from The Lochs is from an other song. This Alliance Raid uses quite a few early ARR songs as motifs, as well as classic FF motifs

@@razzle2302 that's what I was thinking too but I can't find where the leitmotiv in the Lochs is from originally

its also featured more prominently in "With Giants Watching" (ie. played in Ala Mhigo sanctuaries). my guess with the use of all these leitmotifs is that these are all gods of the various civilizations of mankind, which is why you have these leitmotifs associated with different regions playing. only issue with this guess is that Rhalgr is most closely associated with this leimotif and wasn't part of this raid

my moon catgirl who has Menphina as a patron is more likely to try to adopt her beloved goddess as a daughter.

Our fc did the same. Yet halfway through on Halone boss fight, a perosn who join the fc PF asked to put markets to help us make the fight easier, even though it was stated it was a blind run, just to uave fun. It became a small squabble but we just let them do it so we could kepe going

Yeah, even though Nymeia and Althyk turned me in to water-aspected soup, I managed to clear Menphina without getting KO'd on my blind attempt haha

The third boss of the 24 mans are always supposed to be harder then the final, think ozma

@@Chihiro-Kikuchi 2 and 3 were definitely much harder than 1 and 4. Our blind group wiped once on both the middle ones but cleared the bookends with few issues.

@@foxyfoxington2651 Same on our run. I died - got rezzed - died via a well-timed knockback a second later on the second fight. Then we wiped cuz all healers fell and died.

They are both names for the same instrument, just different genres of music! I think “fiddle” would be appropriate here since it sounds kinda folksy :)

It's because Menphina is also the moon in FFXIV, and the best part is that the doggie is Dalamud, the little moon that they used to lock Bahamuth

The Gods of Eorzea are all about the duality of the elements, keeping the Umbral and Astral aspects of the realm in Balance. Halone is the "Dark" version of Ice, which is bitterly cold and harsh, steeling you for the future and the reality of the battlefield. Menphina is the "Light" version of Ice, which is glittering, romantic and awe-inspiring. The kind of cold that makes you cuddle up with someone you care about to share the warmth you both have. It invites togetherness, not solemn duty.

@@LifelessCreeper Yeah same. I get that the vocal songs are reserved for final bosses but since the Twelve are the main religion for Eorzea and such a big part of the lore, I feel like they should’ve made an exception this time.

To be fair that level of creativity and polish isn't something you can just 'do'. More is always appreciated, though.

I actually had a lot of fun learning the rework on the fly while playing this blind

@@RisXchTaisu Nice, personally I'm not a Paladin main, I honestly wouldn't know the hardships that mains had to go through with the ups and down of it. But hopefully it's in a good spot for now.

@@grumpysheep3710 one of the main nice things that I learned from testing the rework is that it is allowing us to weave in magic (ranged) in much more frequently which is great for when we aren’t in magic phase and need to dodge AOEs

@@RisXchTaisu oh that's a nice touch or added mechanic, usually you I see players being in the fray 90% of the time with no real breather between the enemies AOE and close range takes, before diving back in. Good to know that there's some long to mid range attacks that Paladin's can do now, and not always be the punching bag all the time. If this makes sense.

She's connected to Ala Mhigo in the same way every member of the Twelve are connected to each Eorzean city-state: namely, she's part of the pantheon but their patron deities are Rhalgr (for the Highlander Hyur primarily) and Azeyma (for the Seekers of the Sun Miqo'te), though there's some crossover. Menphina's worship is strongest in Gridania due to the very high population of Keepers of the Moon Miqo'te clans, so she's more matron deity in Gridania due to that...Rhalgr, and thus Ala Mhigo, do have some connections to the other Goddess that rules the Heaven of Ice! Halone the Fury is Rhalgr the Destroyer's daughter! As far as I remember, the city-states that have direct patrons in the Twelve are Limsa (Llymlaen), both Old and New Sharlayan (Thaliak), Ishgard (Halone), Gridania (Nophica), Ul'dah (Nald'thal), Ala Mhigo (Rhalgr), and the old destroyed city-states of Nym (Oschon, strangely...Despite Nym sharing most of Nymeia's name), Belah'diah (Azeyma), Sil'dih (Also Nald'thal). Byregot, Oschon, Althyk, and Nymeia don't serve as patrons of specific clans or nations (Oschon might be an exception for spoilery reasons), and even the gods which serve as clan/city patrons also serve as patrons for specific disciplines. Whew! I really got into the weeds there, but I really like how deep the world can be in 14, hope I helped clear up whatever connection you were feeling was there?

Personally I found Algaia harder than this raid; but at the same token this raid had a lot more surprises. Guess tis the price to pay when you got PTSD from UwU.

Ehhh..its all just pattern recognition.. the most unique thing in this raid was actually the althyy/nymeia fight. Done the raid a few times at this point and folks have real trouble with the charmed and time speed up mechs.

@@bun-kitty-bun912 Even so that's still a pattern; arguably every fight in FFXIV is a dance / pattern. It's also Week 1 of the raid. It's not Orbonne Monastery with surprisingly intricate mechanics - people STILL struggle with Thunder God and Ultima. A lot of these mechanics were a lot less 'oh god' and more 'oh gee'; like Rhalgr was quite the surprise and people tripped up on that for a bit until they got the hang of it. Yes, that charm and time speed up mechanic is something, but ultimately it's saying resolve looking from or towards the boss. It's not Mhach where you wanna stand in a puddle (but not too much to avoid zombification) or One Shot Death - and there's nothing very obvious about it.

@@Smallville619 It's the second last step (with the final turning it into orange flames a little extra vfx) but yeah HW relics are really easy because aside from like 3 steps everything else is just buying stuff with tomestones which means you don't need to actually do any farming
