I absolutely love the idea of the background vocals being that of the mothers and grandmothers of the tribes passing down these songs and dances of prayers to the new generation of Miq'ote women, it's filled with such joy and the idea of cheering on the next generation to continue the traditions of the ones prior

The new lyrics are even more confirmation that the song is a prayer from a Keeper of the Moon to Menphina

its not just that this game destroys you emotionally over and over, it equally makes you smile so many times. when the violines hit, i feel so happy every time. the lyrics made it even better. soken-san is the best.

FFXIV has so many genres of music and they're all awesome.

What I love is the Triple Goddess (Mother Maiden Crone) within the song itself With it being about the Moon, and then mention "See I'm a woman grown enough for secrets" (Maiden) "My mother before me" (Mother) and "My grandmother before me" (Crone)

There's genuinely so much great storytelling and worldbuilding in this song. The way the song takes us on a journey with a protagonist and gives us enough context to know what it's about, and how it all fits into the world's overarching lore. Really, really good stuff. And good for the Mooncat players, I'm sure you guys feel like the Ul'dah natives after In The Balance :p

Even if they don't end up in the game, I want a song for every member of the Twelve now. For Pete's sake, Althyk is worshiped by Bards.

The official lyrics are absolutely a Mooncat hymn, much like how Nald'thal is an Ul'dah hymn. As a mooncat player who has noticed the sheer disparity between suncat rep and mooncat rep among the NPCs in the game and such, I absolutely love this.

If we get to meet a keeper tribe sometime in the future (meracydia expansion please square?) I’d love to hear a version of this used as a motif for them, this melody would be super fun to hear Soken mess around with

When I made my Moon Kitty way back in Stormblood I never imagined I would actually meet his goddess. Nevermind his tribe's patron goddess getting something like this certified banger for a boss theme. Honestly made me feel oddly proud.

I think some lyrics sounding mispronounced is due to the backing vocals overlapping. "In your name" sounds like "in your midst" because of the "*songbirds*" bit in the background. Anyway though, thanks for the video.

I knowing it doesn't REALLY matter, but Just saying, throughout all these years, FF14 was never nominated for a game music award as far as i know. The fact that they aren't even ever considered every year is blasphemy..... I think this year with FF16, they will no longer be able to ignore Soken's work though.
