DeeJay's stages explained 

The cars w/ the bigass sound system in the SF6 stage are possibly a nod to DJ Kool Herc; He was known for his elaborate sound system setups and more relevantly, the way he'd have it set up in his car, to say nothing of how he more or less pioneered hip hop. Bears mentioning that Herc himself was Jamaican, so someone on the dev team really knew their shit.

Honestly, the Rasta history lesson bit was super cool! I love learning more about cultures and movements from all over the world. Also, to me, Street Fighter and the Vs series have always felt like they were a big party (outside the final bosses, obvs) no drama, just everyone showing their skills and having a good time, and I love how Dee Jay's stages embody that, especially with everyone crowding around in later rounds of his SF6 stage.

Personally, i like the stage from sf6, and the music there is a vibe to relax from. The classic SSFII stage still holds up well, too, with the energetic music when it's close to the final round. Dee Jay was once 1 of my favorites back in the days of SFII and is still is today with how advance they made his stage in SF6. 1 thing I do like to point out is that theme for his stage as well as his theme song is much more inspire to reggae style music and how it fits him so well. I heard people "complaints" when it comes to the OST's of SF6 that they say sound bad but it's more rather different and fits the characters well than they use to back in previous games and honestly the Capjams has done a great job on making the themes more well known in my opinion. Besides all that this was a very intrusive video and I really appreciated it very well and hope to see if you do more these in the future. I recently saw one with Cammy stages and I hope to see if you'll do an updated version of it including her new stage in SF6 if possible.

Awesome video! I find it cool that the 2 boxers in the game were based on real fighters. Mike Tyson for Balrog/M. Bison and Billy Blanks for Dee Jay. Being Puerto Rican, I always loved how there was representation of Caribbean characters with Dee Jay and Blanka. The history of Jamaica regarding colonial rule here DEFINITELY sounds familiar unfortunately 😕 but it's a welcome detail to add to the video nonetheless. The New Challengers stages definitely brought more color than the original 12 fighters stages. Again, awesome video! Keep up the great work!

Enjoyed every bit of this vid also loved how u touched on the Rastafarian Culture its history in my country colonialism and slavery still has that affect on us just as much as Jamaica and other Caribbean and American countries which is unfortunate and we're still trying to rid this colonial rule, if only there were more Caribbean characters fighters. I liked Deejay's Alpha 3 stage imo I still get this laid back feeling of his theme and in the background of the stage but also having the high energy of what is or will be going down in the club, and his SF6 stage bear resemblance to his Alpha 3 stage but way more going on.

First of all, mad respect for wearing the Sodom outfit in World Tour. Secondly, I've always really loved Dee Jay's stages in II and 6. They capture the tropical, beach vacation vibe really nicely and stand out from all the other stages in the series.

I am so happy to be able to learn about level and character design with a lot of history thrown in the mix. Your videos are an absolute delight for Street Fighter fans out there. Also nostalgia. I can't subscribe again but the intention is there.

The system of the stage reacting to the match didn't actually originate is SF4, but actually in SF3. When opponents get knocked down, or a bigger character uses a move where they shake the screen, the stage shakes and object on the ground jump into the air, (on ryu's stage his bag gets knocked over and the crow flies away and on hugo's stage all his stuff goes into the air) or some other type of effect (on ibuki's stage a snake falls from the trees). Third strike is pretty sick man.

A really good in-depth look into the stages here and the added Rastafari lesson added something extra to it. I wonder if the thing about the Alpha 3 stage is showing Dee Jay's start as a musician, as the area seems more isolated and a lot less busy than his SFII stage, which has a larger crowd and in an area designed around tourists, showing how he's grown in fame as an artist.

Really really do love these videos on stages, it's a topic you don't see people talk about nearly enough! I'm sure this is probably something you've already thought of but, would you consider doing a video on Guest Stages? I know you did SC6's Nier and Sam Sho stages, but SC alone has like the Star Wars, GoW, and Witcher stages, MK9 has the Kratos stage, DoA4's Halo stage, Tekken 7's Guest stages, Arbiter's KI stage, and possibly probably more I'm forgetting. Everyone talks up guest characters, but the guest stages don't tend to get as much appreciation.

You're right, Rastafarians mostly eat a vegetarian diet (although my father-in-law catched his own fish and sometimes eats chicken), their cuisine is called Ital. Also, some Rastafarians don't use seasoning / spices! Which always amuses me, as internationally, Jamaican food is considered to be strongly favoured...

I love what you do with these videos! You go in depth to the nitty-gritty and give is the best explainations possible. Keep doing what you're doing. I always look forward to watching your videos. Dee Jay's stage has always been the type of stage of "this is where the party is" vibe. His theme in SF6 kind of threw me off because it's slow. For me, I thought it was going to be fast-paced or medium-paced. But, to be fair, I prefer fast-paced music when playing fighting games, especially games such as Street Fighter, King Of Fighters, or Tekken. Although I'm not fond of his theme in SF6, I will say at least the music fits the stage and culture of Jamaica for the most part. I wonder what stage you'll cover next 🤔. Zangief? 😉😉 Chun-Li? 😉😉

Really want to hear more analysis of other SF6 tracks. I knew round 3 music gets more intense, but never noticed the ascending horns for the beach stage

Ahh Dee Jay, I personally think he's my favorite of the newer SF2 characters, he's just an upbeat guy and that's pretty neat imho, personality and design is pretty much all you need to for me to like a character and I'd say Dee Jay gets both right, will I ever play him? no, I can't play charge characters to save my life, but still, he's cool, his stages and music are pretty cool as well. Also a couple things, 1, that SNES music is giving me Mega Man X vibes, 2, I see your World Tour avatar is pretty much female Sodom, nice, 3, since this comment isn't too long, I thought I'd throw my hat into the ring with suggestions I'd like to see you cover. The Stages of KOF94: It would be nice to take a look back at the first game in a series known for its great stages, plus you've talked about the stages of 97 so I don't see why not. Guest stages: Basically, look at stages that came with guest characters. (Like Negan or Noctis in T7, or Haoumaru in SC6, or the God of War stage in MK9) And I remember there being one or two other ideas when I was typing this on the original upload, but I can't remember them now, as you can tell I'm trying to re-type this comment from memory because I was typing it when you were making that upload private, so I just canceled it.

You forgot Dee Jay's stage in Street Fighter The Movie The Game. Even though Dee Jay is not in the arcade version, he was included in the console version where they give him his own stage in Street Battle Mode (the game's own Arcade Mode).

One nitpick I have about the SF6 stage are that the cars look like generic American muscle cars. In my opinion they should resemble Japanese cars since they're imported straight from overseas because in Jamaica they drive on the left side of the road. It's pretty rare to see American cars there.

The bathers beach name is accurate, but it's not what you think, when I first heard of it I was dead laughing. To (Bath) is to take a shower as you guessed, in Jamaica it's pronounced (bade) or the most accurate Jamaican term, (hol a fresh) 😂. As far as the name, it's more of a reference to a reference🤔, as there are no beaches with that actual name in Jamaica. There were great efforts that went into telling Jamaicans to take showers, they even have songs about it. The lack of encouragement would stem from issues like extremely long, as in days, of water and power outages, that's assuming you even had it, this is the 1980's. Depending on where you live, this would result in miles of walking to the river, the beach ⛱️ or the (stand pipe)? think of it like a fire hydrant but for public use and not for firetrucks, also very few of them. To make it to school in the mornings, 5:00am is wake up time, it's still dark out, hot water is a alien technology, so off to the river it is, or...you know, become a Gamer😉. What makes me laugh is the name Bathers, that would totally be a nickname given to people who either would skip showers, or who is so determine to take one, that they would make the miles long journey to do so. 🎵If you're interested in checking out the song, it's called ("hol' a fresh" By Red Dragon), a Legendary record if you ask me.
