Castronovo RULES!!!
@ArnelRocksChile The best choice to continue the legacy of Journey is Steve Perry, and egos and money seem to prevent this from happening. Schon and Cain are making alot more money by hiring Arnel than they would if they had to include Perry at the share of the profits and partnership/corporation that Perry would demand. In Perry's absence, Deen raises the bar for Arnel every time Deen takes over lead vocals.
its sad they have two people in the band trying too sing the perry songs,an we now it only takes one too sing them his name is steve perry.wonder why they havent had a hit in 15 yrs
@tr4207 You make a valid point. Until Arnel plays a major role in writing songs that take Journey to anywhere near the level of fame, notoriiety and respect that Perry did, he is simply just another singer who is trying to fill SP's very large shoes.
@ArnelRocksChile Stick to argument at hand. Since Augeri started having problems with his voice, Deen has sang many more tunes that just Mother Father and still they ride. Search RU-vid and you will find this to be fact. Deen does an outstanding job on every SP era song that he has sang.
@ArnelRocksChile Cont You simply refuse to accept the fact that had Deen chose otherwise, Arnel would be doing cover bands in the Phillipines. Dispute the fact that bringing Perry back(egos aside) would mean less money for Cain and Schon becuase Perry is going to command a bigger share/ more stock in the corporation. Schon and Cain also have more control of how much touring the band does with Perry not at the helm.
@ArnelRocksChile Do you want to debate the fact that Deen was offered the lead singing job before anyone had even heard of Arnel? Do you want to debate the fact that had Augeri's voice been repairable through surgery, he would still be the Journey frontman? Do you want to debate the fact that Arnel can not work a crowd and be the true leader of the band like Perry was? Go a head, make your case that Arnel steps up front and leads the band and not the other way around.
@ArnelRocksChile Cont Here is something that sould be so obvious that it need not be said--Neal, Jon & Deen are not going to say, hey Arnel's pretty good, but Deen is better or we can make lots of money now without Steve Perry even though Arnel is not even in the same league as SP. They are out to sell a product and PR is the name of the game. They call it the music business for a reason.
@ArnelRocksChile If you really knew the process that Journey has gone through with their lead singers since Perry left you would know that answer. It is very simple-Deen turned the offer down. I cant make it anymore plain to you than that. Deen is doing what he enjoys most and what he is most comfortable with, but that does not take one iota away from the fact that he does an oustanding job of singing SP era Journey songs.
No one can ever replace or come near to Steve Perry, but I will admit that Deen is very, very talented. And frankly, though I give Arnel his due, Deen does a better job on these songs-and since Arnel doesn't have to do a complete set by being spelled with Deen, they aren't grinding him into the dust and making him 'toast' as they did with Steve.
@ArnelRocksChile You have yet to even bring a cogent, sound, and valid argument to support your case. You have used so many ad homenim tactics and falacies and now you add being sexist to that list of methods to obscure the facts and the argument at hand.
@ArnelRocksChile Why do you ignore the facts and the truth to defend Arnel. If Augeri's voice would have held up, Arnel would still be singing in tribute bands in the phillipines. If Deen had the lead singer personality, was not shy by nature, and so passionate about playing drums, Arnel would still be singing in a tribute band. This is a simple matter of elimination and logic.
the background noise is incredibly rude; I can't believe the audience would be so disrespectful; this is a sterling performance. The 30 years I lived at concerts, you could hear a pin drop, and that was all over NY, NY.
Deen will tell you himself that he can only sing 3 or 4 songs a night before he is vocally spent....probably a slight exaggeration on his part but if you've never sung lead vocals 4 or 5 nights in a row, much less JOURNEY lead vocals, a tour is not a good testing ground to see if you're able!:)
más q sustituir a Perry a la fuerza, se trata de mantener el formato e identidad de la banda...pero es un verdadero acierto q la banda siempre tenga gente muy telentosa y versatil, como es claramente el caso de Dean.
Exactly....what band scoops up a poor Philippino boy off of youtube except for some publicity. Arnel can sing...but if you see his stuff before the tribute band...he sang totally different. He morphed into Steve Perry mode...but f*uck...so would I ...I guess. But Deen would be the better in-house choice by far and let Arnel still be a roadie.
@ArnelRocksChile Once again you reveal yourself to be a sexist and not a prime candidate for MENSA as well. Prove that Deen was not offered the lead singer job in Journey and that he turned it down. Once again your use of ad homenim tactics and basless and false speculation reveals that you attack the person instead of the logic, the facts and the argument.
Could be an artifact of having to lay down a drum beat with singing at the same time, but in listening to this back to back with SP's 1983 Budokan Japan set, you can see why Perry is just the better singer. Something lacking in Deen's nuances, shading, timing, and styling, and seems to be just one register lower, as well. It still is a great job that he is doing, but to me, journeyman, versus Steve Perry being the master singer...
@ArnelRocksChile Arnel is not even as good as Augeri. If Augeri wuld not have lost his voice, Arnel would still be in the phillipines singing in tribute bands.
