I love how Peter calls the character "Doctor Who" out of instinct, just like the first generation of fans used to call him back in the 60s and 70s. You can tell he's a true old-school, lifelong fan.

Capaldi is criminally underrated as the Doctor

Ever notice whenever they show Neve Mcintosh in these behind the scenes stuff, she's ALWAYS in her Silurian makeup? Never out of it or in the makeup chair? Is Neve Mcintosh actually a Silurian in disguise, and Doctor Who is when she gets to show her true self?

Just rewatched deep breath. First watch if this I was 12 and I wasn’t into it. Rewatched it now and he’s fantastic honestly rlly great first episode rlly miss this Doctor.

Wish they could've kept up the quality in series 8 throughout all of Peter's stories. The way he plays The Doctor in that first series is brilliant

I didn't really like the 12th doctor until i went back and re watched a few times 11 is still my favorite, but I also really enjoyed 12's run as well, and I was kinda sad when he left :(

You always see the change from doctor to doctor by never like Capaldi and I can remember sitting on the couch starting season 8 and I was just blown away at how different it was and I loved it dearly.

Rewatching it while I don’t like the dinosaur CGI I thought Capaldi was fantastic and the script was pretty good. Weird it was Vastra,strax and Jennie’s last episode. Wish we could see them again just so they could get a proper send off.

I think my eyebrows are more cross than his but I'm Canadian so they sort of negate themselves.

Thought like it was ok. Not a bad episode but could have been better. Though I do love how dark it was. The thing with the two face man and the doctor at the end gave me goosebumps. Cant wait to see where this doctor goes.

Capaldi truly was the best man for the job. He isn't my favorite but I do think he's the best. He had the most passion and I think that's part of what made his Doctor so wonderful. You could tell how much he loved it. Beyond that, he's also an incredibly talented and underrated actor. It's probably one of the best Doctor Who casting decisions. It's a shame they wouldn't get it right the next time the Doctor regenerated. Capaldi was the last REAL Doctor in my mind and I salute him for all his WONDERFUL work. He deserved better than to be pushed out so unceremoniously but in retrospect perhaps it was for the best. I'd hate to see what Chibs the idiot would do to the character. He left before the writing took a nose dive into god awful territory. I can happily cut off at the end of Twice Upon a Time because that's when EVERYTHING GOOD left. Hopefully one day the show will get put in the hands of decent writers and actors but until that time at least I have 55 years of wonderful television to enjoy.

The first read-through reminds me of Peter playing a different character I know, the voice, the way he says things, it reminds me of the role he played in Aftersun. And quite different from what it ended up to be, an aggressive Doctor-in-nightie.

Pretty good episode, but i have got to say the series 9 premiere is alot better.

Capaldi was also a villain in Torchwood season 3 though. So the whoniverse actually has two more characters who look like Twelfth.

I adored this episode! I will admit it's not perfect, but then, even the best and most acclaimed story has some faults! I thought it was a roller coaster ride story, a bit crowded I'll admit but I think the majority rounded off well! Moffat made use of a previous monster and I find these versions so much more frightening then in Girl In The Fireplace! Capaldi is going to continue being amazing, I detect hints of the 7th Doctor, being comical one minute and scheming the next, anyone else notice that or am I weird? Either way, I'll be enjoying more series 8 and whatever Moffat can throw at us!
