yeah, i can imagine taylor being jealous of charli and even olivia. taylor has the commercial success but she has been desperate for critical acclaim her whole career, something that has come more easily to the two pop girls i mentioned previously. she finally got it with folklore though. plus she probably still sees herself as a dork to a certain extent like how she portrayed herself in you belong with me, so charli and olivia would seem way more edgy and popular girl coded to her in comparison

I’m SO GLAD you said that the girl so confusing remix with lorde was one of your favorite pop girl cultural moments ever because SAME😭 Lorde is like my biggest artist I stan (besides Taylor) and hearing both Lorde and charli’s sides on the remix made me so emotional but also want to dance and think about my relationships, etc. I literally play it everyday. I've been wondering why the heck I didn't vibe with this album when I listened to it. I liked the instrumentals, but I just didn't relate to it. I'm just gonna chalk it up to me being autistic and too introverted for being in the club. Very glad that you made this video so that I could understand the concept, at least.
What gagged me the most about whole brat era is how open the mainstream public has been to accept Charlie’s commercial aspect, like, you know, it is ok for her to want it THAT much. Like they have been rooting for her so diligently. And simply I cannot find other reason other than her being this edgy and openly it. General public doesn’t like women being this openly… everything😂, but somehow, they don’t mind it with her. She is a smart business woman apart from being talented and I really enjoy seeing it. If only this generosity would extend to other female figures not necessarily with edge of a British cool girl…

I am way older than your target audience, but I am really loving your concise and insightful videos. Your delivery is so entertaining and your insights on society and how we are interacting with each other and with pop culture is spot on - for example how you highlight corporations hijacking organic moments of pop culture or how you differentiated between cancel culture, hatred and criticism (in another video). Many of the artists you talk about I don't even know, but I am subscribing because I love the way you deliver on any topic that you choose. It reminds me of the old newspaper days, when one would wait the whole week for the favorite column in the Sunday Paper. Best wishes for you and your channel

Before the sort of huge mainstream success for their albums started happening, you and Madeline would talk about Von Dutch being a serve or Chappell roan being the breakout star of 2023. And my reaction was, “I’m sure they’re right” so I listened and was utterly GAGGED from then on. I will always take a music recommendation from you guys. I own boom clap because it was included in the fault in our stars album and I love drive. Besides that I don’t listen to charli xcx often or at all. I haven’t listened to brat as a whole yet either. I just love the history it’s creating. I like how she’s been approaching interviews and I really feel like she’s been so open in a way I would never expect from her. Frankly, she intimidates me. I don’t party, I’m not wealthy, and I didn’t think she was a vulnerable artist. Now I do believe that, and it’s so delicious when an artist shares, to the point of huge success. Loved this video! Charli XCX has been a part of my life for a long time now. I still get a bit teary eyed thinking about the long summer drives up to my grandparents when my sisters would blast “I LOVE IT” by Icona pop. That song introduced to me the same atmosphere that you find at a party, an air in which everyone is on the same messy level and we are all just having fun. Even though I was only 10 me and my mom would scream the line “YOU’RE FROM THE 70’s BUT IM A 90’s BITCH!”. That moment of pure party, with a blatant disregard for the proper etiquette is what truly made me fall in love with Charli XCXs music. I followed her loosely, being gay I obviously jammed to vroom vroom on the regular, but didn’t really become a fan until “how I’m feeling now”. That record was so blunt and still to this day what I consider to be the most I’ve ever related to a piece of art. She perfectly captured that pandemic chaos in the crashy instrumentals! As brat began to roll out I knew that I would love it. When club classics and b2b came out I was sat (well actually up and dancing). I stayed up to midnight just to listen to it and it’s hard to describe the feeling of genuine joy I felt on hearing the 360 instrumental be remixed on 365. It’s funny because it’s not a sentimental song at all but I had the hugest grin on my face listening to it, knowing that she had perfectly stuck the landing. I don’t want to sound hyperbolic and annoyingly modern (recency bias and all that) but as of right now “BRAT” by Charli XCX is my favourite piece of art ever. This video was wonderful! Though I’m not a swift or myself I ALWAYS appreciate your well thought out scripts. Critical thinking is something very vital to me when it comes to media I consume and you surely meet that mark! for years charlie has been (to me) the most famous person I recognize as my birthday twin on famous birthdays (she was like 9th on the list when I last checked at a new year’s party), and the boom clap fault in our stars girlie, and now she’s The Moment and I’ve gone back to look at her discography that I wasn’t really following before, and I’m so delighted and surprised! she’s so much more than boom clap and I’m happy she’s getting more mainstream success 💚💚💚

Amazing video yet again! I have been a massive Charli fan for years so I was super excited about this album and it did NOT disappoint!! It is so strange to see Charli go into this main stream space now, like so happy for her but it is weird to see people hoping into the Charli world and then the real Charli babes jamming. I feel like there is a total difference from the angels to the new fan sso curious to see how that unfolds moving forward. Totally agree with you though in that this has been one of the most iconic album releases in a while! But also it wouldnt be such a big moment if first and foremost the music wasn't a hit!! Which go her for having so many moments on tiktok again solid proof of an incredible depth of great music on a project! Not like how y2k went for ms ice spice tragically. I first saw Charlie perform on SNL with "Boom, Clap" and was mesmerized by her performance. I often went back to RU-vid to watch it there. I heard nothing else about her till now. I'm older so I don't follow everyone but glad she's getting noticed now in a big way!
I've tried to get into Charli because so many like minded people enjoy her, and i appreciate that she's goid but never quite click into it. There are a few songs in the new album i like ok, but I'm enjoying the whole brat summer thing more than the music. It is brilliant, from the color to the font to the weird in between of kinda fu vibe and also welcome in vibe. The confusion feel of it is exactly how i feel right now.
I saw the og riot grrrl band Bratmobile at Pitchfork a couple of weeks ago, and even their shirts at the merch tent were Brat green 😂. It truly saturated everything this summer.

i was waiting for you to make this video (because I somehow just knew it was happening!) Brat was def a slow burn for me. First listen I felt as though I didn't comprehend it, but I really liked 360/B2b so I decided to listen a few more times and ended up loving it! I've followed Charli loosely over the years, but after watching a few interviews with her and revisiting some of her old tracks I've really come to respect her so much as an artist and I'm excited to see where she continues to take things. Funny enough I am having a belated birthday cookout for myself in a few weeks and my original idea was to include a hot dog bar which I now decided to rename the "BRAT BAR" which I will be including in the decor! Therefore, IMO-- Brat summer is not dead!!! :D
charli was just in sao paulo promoting brat actually! she did a dj set there. also she came down here back in 2022 for primavera sound and the public loveeeeed her, lots of sweating screaming and jumping around hahaha
I think the first time i really paid attention to charli was with how I’m feeling now, and it was a bit upsetting that it got completely overlooked as the first pandemic album. But where i fell invlove was with her “commercial” project, Crash. I listened to that album on repeat when it came out, and brat has honestly just cemented her as an amazing and interesting artist.
