One thing I'll have to disagree on is Sabrina's ability in less fun tongue-in-cheek songs. Emails I cant send had some very impactful emotional moments for me. Calling out her cheating father on the album title track, how many things was a great breakup ballad and skinny dipping was one of my favourites. I love her leaning into her cute but sexy grown up persona but I don't think she should be restricted by this and her previous hits. Her best work derives from her self-confidence in saying random shit and I think it could work alongside with her more vulnerable artistic side.

Saying Gaga’s music was not that interesting at debut is crazy because she was one of the few artists pioneering the electronic dance take on pop at that time, not to mention the very relevant social commentary on fame after the whole Britney/early to mid 2000s celebrity culture. I enjoy Chappell but she does not hold a candle to what Gaga was doing during her debut, and I don’t see how it’s more ‘innovative’ when her latest release sounds like a Marina song off of The Family Jewels, from vocal delivery to some of the production choices. Maybe you’re revisiting Gaga’s work with a 2024 perspective instead of trying to understand the project for what it represented back then and how it impacted both the music scene and culture as a whole. Not to mention Born This Way, from subject matter to production, that album is unlike anything at that time and IMO an even more experimental album that ARTPOP ever was. I am getting lowkey Gaga hater vibes, hope I’m wrong.

As an elder millennial, I have to say that Olivias music makes the awkward 15 year old in me still feel seen. I am excited to see what else she produces.

Also Sabrina was only 13 when she started her music career so she's been finding her identity as an artist over the years.

The thing with Sabrina is, that her first albums were with Hollywood records, which means she had little to no control over the music. Even if she had writing credits on most of the songs, she did not have nearly as much freedom as she did with eics. She signed her record deal when she was like 14. Disney definitely took advantage of her young age. And when she signed with island records, they didn't even promote her, or just barely. They only really started promoting her after the fans made the nonsense outros big on tiktok. And then it became even bigger with the eras tour. Her fun, cheeky "humour" was always there, she just saw that she can really profit off of that so it seems like she leaned more into it with this next album. For which she's getting a ton of hate for, so that means it's working. People only hate on things that are making a noise, so I feel like she'd much rather have this hate than what she was recieving in 2020-21. I don't really see that the industry kept giving her chances, cause anyone who broke free of disney and hollywood records usually did much better with a new record label. I honestly wish you would go back and listen to her "disney" albums. They are still her songs, they just do not have that much vulnerability imo. Though, I will say, singular act 1 and 2 are more for me than emails i can't send was. I'm really just curious of what you think of those albums. Even if you end up hating them:)) I'm very excited of her new album tho, I hope we'll all love it, and can't wait to hear your thoughts on it(good and bad)

Espresso is not Sabrina's best work. I feel like a lot of people hating on her haven't given emails I can't send a proper listen. There are so many underrated tracks on it that are far superior to all because I liked a boy: things i wish you said and skinny dipping for example. She was a slow rise to fame for reasons outside her talent

I think Chappell uses a lot of throwback styles and she's really good at reinventing other artist's and era's styles but using 2024 friendly lyrics, a lot of her stuff is very Cyndi Lauper, Super graphic modern girl is SOOOO Born this Way era Gaga and Good Luck Babe is a 1980s Kate Bush song DOWN (it's truly her greatest song imo). But I agree she's probably the most talented vocalist among pop girls right now and I hope she can develop her own sound more, she has a hungry energy that a lot of pop girlies lack

Even back in her Fifth Harmony days, I still couldn't get why Camila was the stand-out member, and it made less and less sense as she went solo. The appeal only dwindled with all of her tacky relationship antics and racist past. There just isn't a lot about her, both as an artist and a person, that draws me to her.

Congrats on 100k! I feel like a big reason that Sabrina’s discography feels all over is that Sabrina was in a five album contract with Disney for her first 4 albums and emails I can’t send was her first album with Island records, where she could really start putting her own vision into her music.

I think the Sabrina Carpenter image changing has a lot to do with her contract with Disney. She had to make her image family-friendly until she finished her contract (5 albums I think). So I personally feel like she wasn’t fully herself until recently.

I think what people have a hard time understanding is that most of Taylor's music sticks because IT'S SO GOOD. Her music is what I have on repeat, along with people like Lana or Olivia. If I hear Dua or Tate or Sabrina on the radio I can bop, but it doesn't have that bite that the writing has from those three that I want to hear.

The big difference with Taylor and other pop artists is that you still want to go back and listen. Considering the vast catalogue that Taylor has the fact that there are more songs that you want to revisit (even if those aren't the best) in comparison with other artists really tells why she is where she is.

Please dont ever discredit beacuse i liked a boy, the amount of hate sabrina got was huge and we Carpenters had to defend like anything.

Maisie Peters is the most overlooked and underrated new pop girl out of all of them. I love the good witch so much

I've been aware of Sabrina for pretty much her entire career because I watched Girl Meets World -- a few songs from her Evolution album made it onto my wrapped in the year that it came out because it was a staple in my workout rotation. I always knew she had the potential to be huge, but it's been so interesting to watch her finally figure it out. She was making really bland and straightforward pop songs, but the first one that connected with audiences was Nonsense, which was also the first song of hers that really felt like it had... any personality. She's becoming kind of a comedy diva, which puts her in her own lane. I can almost guarantee that every song of hers that will hit huge in the mainstream will have a strong element of that cheeky humor.

My unpopular opinion is that Ariana Grande's new album eternal sunshine is her best album to date. I'm not really an arianator but I really liked the overall project

Sabrina is truly interesting case. To me she feels like if certain parts of Pop Taylor, Ariana and Selena were picked and mixed together and there you have Sabrina. You can see it in her lyrics, her singing style and even music itself. I personally like her a lot but i understand why people think of her as inauthentic and fake.

At the 40 minute mark or so, I really enjoyed this video much more than others you’ve done lately. At least for me, I like that you took the time to share your opinions in more detail as to why you personally don’t like a specific artist, or why in your opinion you think one artist does something really well but not so much in other things and how that connects back into pop/pop culture. I know you enjoy being over the top and to not take things seriously in most videos but this felt fresh and maybe because pop culture is your passion to talk endlessly about. It feels closer to the podcast you do with Madeline and how you take your time more to explain your opinions and thoughts.
