I bet your kids would love fish sticks made with your breading! The tripe has a great nutritional profile, just don't mention to them where it comes from, lol!
I am one of the oddballs, I prefer not to have just plain crunchy calamari, and then dip it like in marinara sauce or something. That’s just me. And I’m like you Anita. I like the really small rings and the tentacles. Yum Yum. Anyways, when I lived in North Carolina for 11 years, there was this restaurant that made to me the best calamari it was deep fried, piled in a plate, and then it had like oil kind of drizzled over the top mostly down the middle in the center so some of it was still very crunchy and then it also had a little bit of crispy but sautéed bell peppers just a tad bit for like decoration, and then a little bit of Parmesan over the top of that. For me it was a great alternative because at the time they usually in restaurants just served with marinara and I didn’t care for that so this was my favorite way to eat it. And that way you got some fat. I’m wondering if you could do that with bacon grease drizzled over the top.
Yay!!! I am thrilled. I can't wait to get to the store. First sardines, now tripe and calamari. Where will my adventure end? Oh yeah I almost forgot the can of cod liver!!!! I've never been very adventurous in the kitchen. You've changed me Anita! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Pro grade, great video...Our instructor is using her new Ninja (oops, she just said that)...Vegans jumping out the window watching this...The air fryer seemed easier...
Did this during summer . Just mixed the egg powder and pork rinds. Just eyeballed it. Breaded scallops and was so happy to get my crunch back for my chicken and seafood!
Nobody ever comments on your timer. I love that break away to the chicken timer. This looks really good. Can't wait to try. Calamari needs to be cooked lower and faster to not get to the rubber band stage. I cook fresh calamari a lot and it always comes out very tender. Take it out before you think it is done
Anita, thank you so much for this video. I had some tripe in my freezer, but didn’t realize I had to boil it. I cooked it immediately and made the wonderful breading and had some for lunch with butter mayo mixed with a little hot sauce! Yes! This is a game changer for me!
I am a new subscriber. I watched some of your videos and I have a question. I don't see that you eat pork meat. Is it ok to eat it in keto or carnivore? Don't you like pork or it is not nutritional as beef or lamb? Thanks Anita.
Not to sound rude, but I was not expecting to see a white lady cooking fried tripe! I'm from the south and only familiar with us black folk cooking it in that manner. Nonetheless, thanks for the recipe and video!
So this recipe is basically goof proof - this from a certified goof! The first time I tried it, using calamari, I didn’t have any beef gelatin, so I used (Knox unflavored “gelatine” packets), and then I forgot the egg wash! In my defense the calamari was already wet-ish and so it slipped my mind. Can I tell you It.was.STILL.fabulous?! So those that are dairy free and want to omit the egg? You’re all good! Also, I did try this to make fried onion rings, and since the batter was already goofed, I goofed up again and forgot to add the gelatine, but did remember the egg wash, but the batter didn’t stick as well without the gelatine, so you will always need that part. Also, the initial results were edible with my goofs, but the reheat no so much. :/
I'm loving Nili's bread crumbs. But I will tell you that I've also been breading some meats in just whole psyllium husk and they tasted just as good and crunchy; so easy!
@@rfross64 I found this! It is perfectly safe to freeze raw or cooked tripe. These products are safe in the freezer indefinitely, but will be best quality in the freezer for 3-4 months.Oct 27, 2022
i have seen several of your videos and have enjoyed them. In one video u mentioned purchasing protein powder from IHERB. could u tell me the type of protein? there r many protein powders on IHERB. since there r many recipes in which to use protein powder, i am confused as to what to buy. I want an unflavored powered, could u tell me what u r using? thanx.
The protein powder that I used in this recipe is egg white protein, it is used in a lot of keto recipes for buns and breads. I use this one: iherb.co/hkhzUuiC
That is a huge appliance! I got the ninja Foodi fold up toaster oven/ air fryer from Costco because my space is limited. I have nothing to compare it to so not sure if it's air frying capabilities but so far so good!
I wsh there was some way to make these like pork rinds - which are dehydrated poek skin, usually - then fried. I wish this was something I could buy :D
I saw Nili's video but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. I am excited to do that though. I just got my latest delivery of egg white powder (Now brand on sale at Amazon for the 5 lb jug). Hubby was so surprised when he opened the box from Amazon. He had texted me about the giant tub of egg white powder! Yes, best price lately. Will last me awhile since I am the only one who consumes it.
I don't live in the US and locally I can only get beef fat trimmings for cheap. Currently I am alternating between cheap protein sources like eggs or shrimp and normal food. How would you advice me to increase my fat intake?
Thank you very much. I made indigo's breading after I saw her video. It really is amazing! I breaded whole mushrooms, chicken legs, and strips of pork. I dug out my deep fryer as I am too lazy to stand over a pan. I'm definitely going to try the tripe but ran out of chicharrones.
