Another great one, I understand that combinations are way too many to cover them all, but please go on with this amazing work, hopefully it'll be helpful also for FM25
thank you! And I definitely plan on doing a lot more role combinations, but it's more of a "long term" vision process rather than trying to knock out a bunch at a time. I always like to have the individual role guide out for both roles before heading into their role combination. And I am curious to see what kind of role combinations work as we get into FM25
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker given that the match engine works so well in FM24 the smartest thing would be for them to keep the match engine and "just" change the graphic engine, leaving any core update to FM26, but it's easier said than done and sometimes game producers are not that smart
I love three at back tactics but I never thought of using a Segundo Volante before😮. A couple of years ago (Being an Arsenal Fan 😅) I attempted to recreate Wenger's attempt at a 3 at back formation ( 3 4 2 1 or 3 4 1 2) in the 17/18 season, I used an Advanced Playmaker behind the striker or strikers but I couldn't decide which roles could corresponds upfront with the playmaker. Now I just might scrap the Advanced Playmaker and use the Shadow Striker instead and might just solve the problem and complete the tactics. Also I didn't consider using a poacher I'd normally use an Advanced Forward (with the DLF next to him course). Your tactical ideas are explained in a simple and calm manner. Once again thank you really looking forward to your next video👌👌🔥🔥.
I think the Poacher gets a really bad wrap haha. There's something about those singular roles (like the no-nonsense defenders) that make them fun. Like hey just worry about this one thing. It's easy to work in a Poacher cause you know exactly what he's going to do haha. When using a Shadow Striker with two actual strikers (like in your tactic idea), it seems he shifts more towards the playmaking side. So you get him attacking the box, but it's not as much as if there was only one striker
Great video bro! I like that you talk about the important details like the space that roles leave behind and how you can exploit that, I would like to see you expand a little bit on these details maybe if you do another series about tactics. You talk about the details that others usually neglect and that sets you apart from the other fm creators in my opinion. Really glad i found your channel)
thank you for the kind words! glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the support. Out of curiosity, what kind of other details would you be interested in seeing? I always try to balance the info out with what's needed and what could be left out, but I'm always trying to add more content that you guys want to see
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker Ok this is going to be a long reply sorry in advance. honestly i think talking about manipulating and creating space for the roles, in one of your videos you talked about how when using a DLP your midfield can be clogged, because you also need to set up the space for him to do his work. Another example you said advanced forward with a shadow striker pin the defenders creating an empty space behind them that could be exploited by a midfielder Like a segundo volante. That info is vital when choosing roles. For example my best player is a creative winger with amazing dribbling and vision, i use him as and inverted winger, but he receives the ball and cannot dribble and he doesn’t create chances, the player is very good the fault is not his i just need to set up the space for him to allow him to dribble and create chances which i dont know how to do. You talk about these things in some of your videos which actually made me feel like i am really learning something new. I am very very interested in learning about manipulating space because i really dont understand it at the moment
thank you for the reply (and sorry for the delay in getting to it haha). I'll see if I can work on something specifically for creating space, rather than just adding it into an existing video
I have been using a DLF in my 433 Man Utd save for a few seasons. I love the link up play they create. I have had to swap to a CF recently though as teams had started sitting really deep, so the slight tweak to my tactic means we are playing slightly differently and creating different chances.
thanks for sharing! It really is amazing how one little role switch can really change how your team plays. And stuff like that helps keep the opponent on their toes
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker It really does. I changed the DLF to CF and my AP-S to Mezzala-Support and we are making so many different types of opportunities.
I heard you call out the poacher role in this video a role which I never use as its imo outclassed by the AF role. Would love to see a video on that in the future
I've got a couple poacher ideas bouncing around, but I agree I almost always go AF if I had a choice between the two. But sometimes a Poacher can be really effective since he has the singular mindset, which helps when you've got a couple other attacking roles that are hybrid styles (like the DLF and Shadow)
Another great post man! would love it if you could talk about different ways of attacking since I'm tryna do a new save with weird systems that might work cheers 🍻
I really wanted to get a RDM going in this FM and cracked it. In a 4-3-3 I use a RDM one wing, W the other with a DLP up front. The W hitting crosses to the back post. I also use a RPM in the midfield 3 on the same side as the RMD is on and a CAR on the other with an A behind. In a 4-2-3-1 I move the A to a SS with roam from position. The DLP and SS drag defenders out for the RMD to exploit the space behind and is always my top scorer.
I love using Raums with dribble more and mark tighter or tackle more (I forget if one of these are disabled with this role, may be confusing it with treq). They work well in traditional formations, but usually I like to isolate mine just to have more space, maybe move my cam or striker to the side opposite of them. They work extremely well paired with a player with good vision and passing as they make some insane breaks off the ball that completely destroy fullbacks. I’m sure a DLP video on the role would show a lot more but I been experimenting with it and I feel like it’s a great role. My raums almost always get a goal contribution every game
@@dennisgodman9732 That's exactly why I have the RPM behind them with great passing / vision and a winger crossing to the far post where they will be waiting for the finish. I hardly see any tactics with them but they are lethal. DLP works really well, but I'm now trying a false 9 and it's so good with the RDM, both with roam from position.
Really enjoying hearing you talk through how you think of, and use player roles in FM. Would like to get your thoughts on pressing forwards, do you have any video planned for PFs?
Thank you! And I do have some stuff planned for the pressing forward but I don't think it'll be in the too near future. thanks for the suggestion though!
Where have you been all this while - love the vides. love the partnerships combos - stepping it up a bit but how about a mezzala, Inverted wing back on support and an inside forward on attack combo ?
My most satisfying combo so far are TF-S + AM-A and F9 + SS. I can't do these with my current save as I don't have suitable players. So I use 2 attacking mids and 1 striker. Depending on the rest of the team the roles change but so far DLF + SS + AP (all on attack) works well.
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker yea it is. One variation that is quite memorable to me is 4-4-1-1 and during the match I changed TF/AM combo to TF/Treq. The opponent plays very aggresive gegenpressing and their transition is very dangerous. So I lower my defensive line and change AM-A to Treq. Then this happens: My TF receives a long ball from GK just a bit further from mid line and flick it on my Treq who is drifiting in the channel just behind the opposing DM. Since the opponents presses aggressively, one of their CD is occupied by my TF and my Treq make a run and take both their DM and the other CB to the side of penalty area. Then Treq slow down by cutting in to wait for TF to catch up then make a one two with him so that he is in better angle. Then my Treq scores. Most beautiful piece I've seen but never been able to actually replicate just due to FM and the nature of Treq. This happens in FM22.
What an awesome story!! If you have a TM that can win headers, just so good. And when an opponent presses, that means there's always that space behind them
man i was looking for counter attacking tactic for ages. unfortunately i dont have a suitable player for a DLP so i had to improvise with a F9 and...OH MY LORD!!! scored 13 goals in the first 3 games and only coneded 2. WTF what a monster
the thing I like about this tactic is it's pretty scalable to your team/how you want to play. If you have a better team than your opponent, you can turn up the press instruction higher. Or if you have a slow backline, lower the defensive line more.
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker well im playing with 1860 München and only got promoted 2 seasons ago. so u can imagine how the quality of my team is. And tbh it isnt really a team either. More a federation of loanies xD Its now midseason 1860 is greeting from the top of the league. Only "downside" is that the other teams adapted a bit and are now much more cotious
as a side note, I think 1860 secretely have the best kits in the entire game. All them are quality and really good colors. Sometimes when the teams catch on, I like to switch up my tactics a little just to keep them guessing haha
Hey DLP - great video once again! Could you also do a comparison video between the Full-Back - DEFEND & Wing-Back - DEFEND? Would be super interested to get an idea as to why my tactics seems to get the best out of the WB-De, but less so with the FB-De.
Great idea thanks! I'll see if I can get started on something with the fullback; I do need to do something on that one anyway haha. And thank you for the support!
Not to promote myself haha, but in my latest video (the simple tactic one), I start out with a shadow striker and a target forward in the main tactic. Maybe that'll give you some ideas on formations or something. Honeslty with a TF, I only really look for three attributes: height, jumping reach, and heading.
currently using shadow striker with complete forward on support duty it seems like they complete each other aswell, but is there a big difference between deep lying forward and complete forward on support role. I tried both but hard to find difference between them
a Complete Forward does have a lot of overlap with the Deep Lying Forward; but the difference is that the CF will be asked to do more. So they'll do things like close down more off the ball, focus more on leading the line, etc... Not to promote myself haha but I did a video on the complete forward which may help out with all the stuff they do
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker i just watched it and understand it completely thank you. I am playing in lower league and its hard to find a good complete forward thats why i asked if i can use deep lying forward on support instead complete forward
oh yea if you're in a lower league, I think a deep lying forward would be great. I used one I think in my J-League save and then one in the Canadian Premier League; A great role to play pretty much any level
Glad you like them! Sometimes it's fun to try and make a tactic using a role; trying to figure out how you can make it work... like a mini-challenge for the game
Pass Into Space is when one teammate passes the ball to another teammate, but instead of passing it directly to him, he's going to pass into an open space for his teammate to run onto. Think of a situation where a team is countering, and the ball is kicked into an open space for someone like a winger. I know that may not be the best description for a text comment, but hopefully it helps a little! I hope to do more team instruction focused one in the future
Keep these combination videos coming in... I'm interested in a good midfielder trio for my 433 tactic that has a RPM. Currently thinking of using a DM, RPM & BWM trio
I'm slowly making my way around the different role combinations haha. You could also try a DM(d), RPM, and CM(a) for a midfield trio. might work out for you!
I actually did that funny enough haha. I'm still working on the script/draft so it may be a few videos before it comes out, but it's about picking a team and making a tactic
Just caught up to date after getting a recommendation from a fellow FMer to check your stuff out. Loving the design and the information flow. In a world of complexity, your videos are a perfect example of the KISS principle in practice. Also just in many pop culture references, I giggle a lot at 'duty', I am a child still at heart.
that's awesome, thank you for checking out the channel! And I'm glad you like the simplistic nature of the videos; I do a lot of revisions to make sure the info I talk about is only what's needed without a lot of extraneous stuff. Also for the record, I try really really hard not to say "duties" in my videos haha. Talking about player roles, there's really no way around not say "duty" but yea I do the same lol
Love your videos. Have you made and released any tactics? This would be something I'd love to see you do. Replicating tactics of managers across the globe, both past and present.
thanks! And the only tactics I do are all pretty simple haha. I usually stick to the basic stuff; but I do have some videos coming on how to make a tactic if that kinda thing might interest you!
Great video man! If we're getting into combinations, the mezzala-inside forward one always leaves me a bit confused. I know they should interchange positions, but from my experiments, the mezzala doesnt go as wide as a winger, even if the IF came inside and the FB is not as advanced. I find it weird, always supposed he would go to the vacated space
The mezzala and inside forward can sometimes end up in the same space; or at least want to go into the same space near the penalty box. that's obviously not necessarily bad or anything; just kinda depends on what you're looking for in the tactic.
