ZEPPELIN Y DEEP PURPLE.
I know this isn’t everyone’s favorite DP lineup but it’s hard to argue against the awesomeness of this particular night in history..would have loved to have been there 👍
Glenn Hughes was then, and remains today, a force of nature. Having seen Ian "Jesus Christ" Gillan with the Deep Purple Mk III in 1973, right after "Made In Japan" exploded in the USA, I thought the band was over when He turned in his notice. But "Burn," and the Mk III Cal Jam show, totally blew me away. Mk III Deep Purple had majesty & panache! As great as this era in hard rock was, with so many phenomenal bands hitting their stride, NO OTHER BAND measured up to Deep Purple Mk II except Mk III. This lineup should have remained together to see the decade out, at least. But it's extremely difficult to maintain this level of God-like perfection & intensity night in & night out, with the impossible recording & touring schedules management & promoters set for them. Sadly, the guys were flying too close to the sun, and the wax in Richie's wings would be the first the first to melt away.
I was in front of Richie , it took the whole day to reach the front , I can see us in the video , then there was the 4 way window pane We fryed our brains 😂
Thanks! Thousands of Thanks! Catapult me back to my youth and the greatest time of my life. Before adulthood and all its responsibilities took over control. Deep Purple fan forever ☮️❤️🎸
I saw the MK 3 at 23rd march 1975 as a fifteen year old teen with my one year younger brother in DORTMUNDER WESTFALEHALLE in Germany. And we still have the original tickets. Cheers from here : - )

❤..u said it..MAGICAL ! AND all that came after...in different versions.. Rainbow..whitesnake. Phenomena.. The fun..The obvious " classic touch" jyst..for me..extremely influential..without any questions..!
I just realized that Deep Purple and ELP were very similar with their innovations. Both groups were insanely creative and entertaining. A lot of groups back then were as well in their own way as well. I can't believe I live in that time.
WOW Look at all the people wish I could have been there. But glad I did get to see them at the orange 🍊 bowl stadium in Miami bch Florida 🌴 in the 70s. Moved to Florida when I was 10 yrs. old. Started going to concerts when I was 12. First concert was Grand Funk railroad and Bloodrock at pirates world in Dania bch. It was 9 bucks rode rides all day it was a amusement park. At nite was the concert. Claude Johnson went with me we had a blast OH the good ole day's. Was anyone else there??😊
"Recognition". I would say by the crowd's behavior most were tired from waiting, plus this was virtually a new band to most that were expecting Gillan/Glover who would have gotten a massive opening ovation. Its understandable, the changes weren't really in mainstream news. not to say this show didn't deliver, and the mood built nicely and then the explosion. I was 18 at the time. I loved Burn, started on MIJ, then got Burn, WDWTWA mixed in, then all of it.
i wish MK 3 would have made 4 albums....(Rainbow on hold....) the same as MK 2....but with the energy of BURN....🔥 ....Stormbringer and Blackmore kind of went off the boil....
I am 69. Believe it or not, I never had one of their albums. I liked their music. But somehow I had a bad feeling about them. Look what happened at this show.
each of them deserves a designated camera-man so we could enjoy every single second of their performance visually as well! and I'm talkin' about Ian Paice now))
Played in bands for over 20 years (seen and done it all - you know the sort of bell-end I am) and never really rated Deep Purple at all. But seeing this for the first time recently, with the Coverdale/Hughes combo really woke me up again. I'd describe it as a spiritual experience to be honest. Fucking awesome...
A very expensiv concert for Deep Purple and the Managment- the camera 70 tsd Bucks and the fire was fine- the bill was 150.000$! Congratulation- but the best Concert I remember.
So klarer sound.
@@edwardgensheimer6640 I was talking about the band rainbow & yes when it was just a peace sign & now it seems you can’t even wear a rainbow anything without it “meaning something else” 🙄
