Definitely my favorite grenade pick for scout, so versatile. And you don't really need the boomerang stun if you are bringing m1000 with focus shot stun
i, foolishly, went "oh they picked two scouts? well the nade economy is gonna plummet but with that and maybe some weird stuff like explosive zuk rounds they might be okay!" and then. critical rang incident
Bro the most annoying mutator has to be haunted cave. One player is forced to babysit the horror for almost the whole game. (Usually scout) all it does is be an annoyance.
@@level2goon72 I think the haunted cave mutator is actually a lot of fun if done right. It keeps your whole team on the move and adds a level of suspense and mystery.
@@nameisnttaylor Gunner with AoE maxed hurricane is THE guy to bring on mactera plague. His shield is the only safe haven you will ever get and macteras are weak against explosive damage.
@@thedragonshoard9130 Cryo driller gets destroyed if he's not careful. Sure he's good against mactera when they show up normally, but mactera plague is a different beast altogether.
@@carljohan9265 i admit im still somewhat new to the game, only promoted 2 dwarfs and driller is who im learning 2nd after scout. that said idk i enjoyed cryo driller in a mac plague yesterday. maybe i was lucky?
i periodically come back to this video because its super legendary. theres so many incredible moments. the taylor goes mental saga. the forbidden mactera song. WHO ARE YOUUUUU. its all here. i never wanna see a mactera ever again
As other people have been saying a gunner is always a great idea however I think keeping James away from toggle-able mission objectives might be helpful as well
You and I play scout the exact same way and I love it, I can only hope the squad learns *something* from this mission. Happy as always to see an upload from my favorite DRG creator.
playing scout like this is an addiction, it's why it'll always be my true favorite class! thank you for the kind words and i'm glad you enjoyed the video
Well since you are playing Scout in this video, I would give a scout specific suggestion of bringing the crossbow with pheromone bolts next time you go into mactera plague. One to two bolts into the mactera swarm will do wonders to buy you and your team enough time to wipe the mactera relatively safely. While it might be a bit riskier (you still have to dodge until the other mactera start aggroing on the ones hit by pheromones) than compared to something like the cryo grenades which kills mactera instantly, you get to hold a lot more bolts with the right mods and it can last you a lot more encounters both when you are with your team and when you are alone.
Another fun video. This game genuinely causes real primal fear, especially each time the horde of 10+ of those Mactera show up. It's great you were able to turn it into a funny, memorable experience, even if it might've been painful at the moment.
After a few analysis, i can assure that we learnt that... something iron will... shoot the flying stuff... dont all die... cover is needed from all mactera...
Every time I see a new vidéo of you showing up I always scream LETS GOOO since you are one of the only deep rock galactic youtubeux who doesn't make only one or two vidéos on it just to tell us what the game is about.
I have to say after the one time I had a Mactera Plague on an Elite Deep Dive's final stage, it is now the most dangerous one I see. People underestimate that one so much unless you can blaze through the level fast enough
its so difficult but (in my opinion) the most interesting mission modifier. it changes the core of the mission, really, replacing the enemies you're so used to fighting with a completely different type of foe. huge pain but imo so much fun
This video marks my life event of laughing the hardest i have ever laughed for the past 3 years. I have never been so amused by anything since before lockdown. "I got to get out of here man" had me unable to respire because i was laughing so hard my core was spasming and forcing every millilitre of air out of my lungs. Your comedy legitimately almost knocked the air out of me. It was like a gut punchline
James totally could have dug a hole to hide and funnel the macteras in for some easy kills. It's the reason why Driller is my go-to for Mactera Plague missions
This is one of the best channels on DRG. I love your videos and your friends. Thank you for the pleasure of watching and I hope that you will continue to make such cool content!)
Since I haven't seen it mentioned yet, the number of swarms you get depends in the total number of eggs - 1 in a 4 egg mission, 2 for 6, and 3 for 8. Every egg popped causes at least a small wave, but you can at least know whether or not there are anyore full-sized waves whek you get to the final few eggs
I think what we learned is that you were straight carrying with that snipaa (good shots). Not every day you see a scout with practically double the next persons kills. That cryo nade critical error mentioned in another comment might’ve netted you another hundred kills.
i promise that the only reason i didn't play gunner is because he's level 25 and i haven't done my newest promotion mission for him (please believe me).
Things that are good against Mactera plague for each class: Scout: Cryo Nades and aggressive venting Plasma carbine Engi: PGL, breach cutter (can inflict stun), and plasma burster grenades. Driller: Snowball and C4 Gunner: Neurotoxin Thunderhead with Suppressive fire. Each of these has something in common; Fear infliction. Mactera have no fear resist so explosions will always scare them (anything that can cause fear will scare mactera.
I recently had a mission similar to this (not a mactera plague, but more that we had 0 ammo for most the mission and had to rely on our pickaxes, and the mission lasted over an hour with almost constant swarms), and it ended similar as well: I was the last one alive and a trijaw domed me. I can relate to the “I just want to cry” feeling. Sad rock and stone.
The major mistakes i see are 1) not using your heavy attack to clear enemies and preserve ammo and 2) not killing enemies after you boomeranged them. the boomerang is top tier on mactera plague if used right. even if you only stun half the group, that's only half the projectiles you need to dodge, and the stun lasts for 8.5 seconds, quite a long time. Just discovered you and been binging your DRG videos. They're excellent, keep it up!
I laughed so hard when the mactera horde flew down at you. As a driller main, I suggest u and friends try drilling a hole into the wall and bring a cryo weapon, retreat into the hole whenever flying enemies swamp in, an U-shaped hole would be a good idea in case a bulk came out of nowhere. Rock n Stone Brothers !
Ya know, in this case Bunkers do focus all the mactera into one chokepoint and allowing everyone to focus fire (And ofcourse dig an emergency tunnel just in case)
great takeaway, i think we're in agreement on that. and i'm also intrigued by this, i wish i knew why it happens. has to be something wrong on a fundamental level
Movement. I noticed the rest of the team stood still and took the shots. Downs could have been avoided if everybody moved more. Genuinely good video though. I personally have panic dreams about macteras.
"macteras aren't that bad"I thought with level 10, nowadays with level 102 and I saw mactera plague in Hazard 5 I know what it is to lose sanity (and it was still shield interrupition)
Your biggest critical error was not having a soul on the team who knew how to dodge trijaws. I would CRUSH that mission so long as I had land to move around on and space to dodge when I got attacked. Oh also snowball would just go SO hard here...
100% resonate with james (least in this vid, first time view to this channel c:) human weasel, able to somehow eek away from every n any situation even in 200% panic, able to squirrel from metaphorical branch to metaphorical branch with minimal hiccups tabg was my awakening and resting place as weasel king, rest in peace you beautiful bastard rolls eyes)
