This story is insane, I can hardly believe someone had the brains to come up with such a in depth sounding story with statistics and fictional science. It's almost like it probably happened in a parallel universe. Amazing job on the narration, I love all of the story's and creepypasta narration videos you have done. I will definitely be watching for the rest of the time you continue to post until either I die or you stop posting. Once I have the funds to do so I will be paying for a membership to support the awesome and inspiring narrations you continue to choose to narrate.

It's even crazier when you realize this book is over 60 years old.

As an applied Physics student, it's almost difficult to articulate how refreshing it is to listen to a true science fiction piece! A piece that quasi-realistically outlines the functions and principles of things in the story. Most “sci-fi” stories are more than content with the crutch of “its fiction” to mechanize everything. Also, well done with the narration!

Given that this tale is nearly 100 years old, and many of the astrophysics problems have only been solved in the last 30 years, this is an incredible story. Its so interesting to see how some of the theories have been proven and disproven since it was penned. I especially noticed the resolution of the 3 body problem, since it was one that has only just recently been resolved with modern quantum computing

The original story was written in 1931 and was the first to be termed hard science fiction. It was reworked for publication as a book in 1957, but much of the science is based on yet to be proven/disproven theories of that era. It's not just space opera, it's a historical record of how writers worked hard to make their output believable in a world that was still amazed by science and where it might take us.

That's interesting. Do you know if this is the original 1931 edition? I'm not very knowledgeable about physics, fact or fiction in 31 or 57!

I love these old stories. From a time when people believed the other planets in our solar system may have life on them. Don't see that very much these days.

Prepare to be regularly upset at the protagonists. The same way that you're irritated when people run up the stairs to get away from the serial killer

The comments regarding the fact that one side of the war valued and rewarded cunning and treachery reminded me of Nigeria. Some of their most famous and honoured heros of history were exactly as these people.

So Arcot, Morey, and Wade ask for lead to refuel their space ship (5:38:32). The narrator while otherwise doing a fine job pronounces the word as leed not led. Strange to get that wrong.
