Apparently it’s to do with the motion capture struggling to render Mark Hamill’s face with Matt Mercer (the actor for Luke in the campaign) while the modelling may look similar to mark Hamill, it needs to be animated by a different face.

@@MickintheMiddle Motion capure affected model that why devs prefer to in game characters have their actors face if not they need to take time to fit animations to different face and even then animations or face dont look that good if you look in collection menu you can see that Luke looks alot like Mark Hamill btw check how similar Lara Croft in Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider looks to her actress Camilla Luddington or how Cal Kestis looks similar to Cameron Monaghan both of them looks almost identical to their actors

As a character modeler for almost a decade, they did a pretty good job on Mark's likeness. Possibly even used a life cast scan as a base to work on. The problem here is most likely due to the blendshape for expressions they manually sculpted doesn't really match Mark's subtle facial structure. Also the expressions are driven by the actor who mo-cap this character doesn't have the subtlety facial movement as Mark. Just use photoshop to soften all the wrinkles on the original clip and you'll see how similar it is to the deepfake one.

They did it to make Luke older, Since people actually age. But he should look like late 20s and early 30s not like 40 and 50

Someone said it's because of the mocap, and that would make the most sense. The voice actor most likely doesn't look like Mark hamill, and they're using his mocap performance for reference. The characters in multi-player don't speak for the most part, so they can get away with not animating the mouths that much, outside of emotes. The cutscenes, however, require full performances. It's the same reason they cast a new actor for Peter Parker's mocap in the newer spiderman games. So they could get a better mocap performance.

@@filmiccrossroads Yes it does? These cutscenes are pre-rendered I'm pretty sure. So as far as I know it would be as simple as replacing the video file with the deepfaked one. There are already quite a few mods that fix Luke's face in-game to better resemble Mark Hamil but nothing for cutscenes like this.
