I know that there are not as many people who hunt the big woods but I'd like to hear what you all have to say about it. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Just about mid center. We don't have much Ag property but plenty of woods and swamps.

I’d like to see a video on tips to hunting small plots of land. I currently hunt on 3 parcels that are 8-16 acres of land. I get great trail cam pics but as soon as the rut hits I don’t see the big deer. Love the content you guys put out. Keep it up!

This is exactly what i was looking for. Hunting a 70 acre corn field with a skinny tree line running through the entire property. Their tracks are all up and down the tree line, and I've got them on camera right where the tree line makes a 90° turn. Thanks for the info!

Farm country. Thing i struggle with the most is how to access the "spot" without busting out the deer but being close enough to get a shot before dark. Its a very specific skill to nail down. Other than simply repition until my gut feeling is precise, any tips for that scenario?
@kylen1922
@kylen1922 Год назад
I can tell u that the best way if your hunting open farm ground have someone drop u off at your stand if u can. It's better off spooking them with a vehicle they are use to traffic
@neonomad6078
@neonomad6078 Год назад
There’s actually not a lot of farm country content out there… accessing a distant woodlot is easy in a corn year but dang near impossible sometimes in a beans year. couple ideas is entering the lot perpendicular to the wind, if they want to be in the timber facing east toward a field maybe you come in from the north. Time periods where they’re moving more like late October might let you keep a little more distance from where they’re bedded. And maybe you stay on the ground rather than make the disturbance of getting up a tree. Every woodlot is it’s own puzzle.
@bowhunter1010
@bowhunter1010 Год назад
my best advice know your spot where those deer are bedded in the morning and get there while there sleeping use a red light and army crawl your butt across that field

My cousin was VERY successful hunting farmland using diesel as a cover scent. The deer were used to smelling it, and not spooked by it.

Y’all!! Great video.. I consider myself a seasoned farm country hunter,, and I agree with zach about getting out of the stand and be doing something different then your neighbors, let’s hear some more about those spots that should have stands and those spots that you need to be quite and when you should and shouldn’t tactically set up in that stand to kill the specific buck you been chasing, capitalizing on recent and past informations, I love to hunt public to just go hunting if it wasn’t a good day and saving the private for those prime days. And also observing your neighbors as much as the deer.

I hunt farm and river bottom country. Not sure if this is a topic to discuss or not, maybe just a tip to other hunters. But one thing I do to get to my best 2 stands is I walk in a creek that has high banks. It's about a half mile walk to the creek, then about a 200 yard walk in the creek. I do have some obstacles to cross in the creek but it's doable. You can move as quietly as a ghost, and quicker than if you were to be walking in the woods. You also leave no scent. You may even get a shot at a deer on the way in. I put my stand maybe 10 yards from the creek. I never see people that far in. I have very good success way back there. Last year I got a 165" on my first sit back there for the year. Great video!

I would love to hear more about how you pick out buck bedding in relation to ag fields, without being able to do any boots on the ground scouting (for example trying to locate bedding on a private piece that you want permission on). What are some of the main components your looking at in order to decide whether you want to ask for permission in a piece of land?

+1 So we can see food and water on aerial images in farmland especially. Cover or bedding choices seem to be more slippery for me. No confidence in my abilities there with respect to deer.

I’d like to see a video of you guys covering entry & exit once you find that spot on a map, without ever being in that area before. I feel like I spook a lot of deer even with playing the wind.

Bradley here at BuckeyeBrothersOutdoors. You guys hit on all the right topics. But for me. Understanding how deer move through these areas and trying to apply it to your hunting scenario is the question. Everyone's scenario is different. This was a great topic of conversation. If yall get some time. Would love to discuss the scenarios I am facing.

Mi. Farm land hunter my whole life I'm 43. Jack nailed it keep the pressure off the property biggest thing. Most places in mid lower mi. You spook a mature buck out he usually has the same food/ water available very close by leaving him no reason to come back were there is pressure. Just my experience and I have messed up plenty of times to know lol....

How to locate, and hunt near bedding areas. How to determine buck beds vs doe beds. Another topic would be the luck factor. How much luck is involved to kill a big buck, after you have done everything you could to increase your odds of getting to that moment?

Hi Guys! I'm in rural Arkansas, and hunt NWR land. I know for a fact there are record book bucks in there because I've seen them year after year all through summer, and up until a week before the season opens. They're eating out of CRP fields. My problem as a new bow hunter is, the Farmers harvest the corn and soybeans the first two weeks. I have NO idea where the bucks move to. My only guess is they swim the Arkansas River and don't come back until Feb-Mar.. Any pointers? Also, water on this NWR is scarce at best during the season opener because the heat dries it up. Even the hidden mud holes, back deep in the woods protected by shade, is dry as chalk.

I live in Arkansas and hunt alot of corn beans ect. But it's super hard to kill but mature bucks only see them most of the time at night time so frustrating what would yall suggest to improve my changes of harvesting a mature buck

I'm curious as to the debate between using decoys for deer and not for turkey. It seems the trend has been to not use decoys for turkey, but I see more and more people using deer decoys. Is it just personal preference or any greater reason behind the choice?

I have a quick question for y’all. I live here in West Virginia West Virginia only has 7% of public ground to hunt and then 98% of all all ground is owned by WVU West Virginia University. We have tried and tried to write and pay for permit slips and passes to hunt that land cause at 7% of public ground to hunt every year will you go there’s over about 45,000 people hunts that public every year doesn’t matter. Where are you go matter what time it could be days that really really cold you still got people on public ground running around with full Willers dirt bikes ATVs you TVs does not matter whatever they get in there, they get an air with they don’t care if it’s national park or anything like that why would you consider doing? Would you leave that area and try to go somewhere else to hunt or basically go to another state
