Sorry, commenting as I watch... I've seen and passed on many Kubota's that have had a gauge wheel bracket busted/broken off the mower deck. Typically one of the front two gauge wheels. I've seen many that are also welded back on. I've only seen a fraction as many JD decks with this same issue. I look at tens of thousands of tractors a year, so just a general observation. Perhaps this is due to folks thinking they can raise them higher and out of the way while doing other tractor work. Can't say for sure, but a possibility. I tell my customers to never leave your mower deck on while using the tractor for other work. It's simply too easy to damage in one way or another. This goes for John Deere or Kubota tractors. The easier the deck is to remove, the more likely you are to remove it.

It is because Kubota owners use the loader with the deck attached. I have seen a Kubota BX slide off a rock pile and break the weld. The advantage to a deck that can be so easily removed on the John Deere is obviously saving a lot of deck damage.

💥 Hi there Tim!💥 The reason I replaced my belt was because after several seasons of use it was starting to wear unevenly and I knew if it were to break it would break at the most inopportune time probably on a Friday evening. So I replaced it with a new one which I believe was $100 and I kept the old one as a spare. I think you’re doing a great comparison. JD auto connect is very nice but the Kubota system is also easy once you’ve figured out the process where experience does help. I do however prefer the height advantage the Kubota has over the Deere. Raising it to its highest setting makes it suitable to handle heavy thick grass and even light brush. Also you’ve seen me use it as a guard when I first got my flail mower. Keep up the great videos! My family and I absolutely love your channel. I appreciate the shoutout. Keep on tractoring my friend! 👍

Practice does make perfect with the kubota deck. The jd system is slick though. My Grandpa had kubota that he used in his mowing business. I often pulled the deck 2-3 times a week to change blades and clean the deck. I had it down to where it was off in under a minuite and back on in only a couple.

Indeed, just happen to be watching because i'm in the market for one of exactly those 2 ... figure. your take on this in this series of video is exemplary and does show character and integrity IMHO. I enjoy watching a guy going about it, talking it through then coming back over the questions some folks have. If i may make a comment, just remember while this is available on the internet for all to see there are folks that you just can't please. They'd find ways to say: everyone is bad, even men. all tractors are bad, green and orange and bla bla bla. Just do like you did, delete is best approach and don't dignify them with a response. (Hard to do, but a necessary evil if you ask me)

Tim I work at a JD dealer. We always install AutoConnect systems. Unless the customer requests not to have it. The pitch of the AutoConnect coupler can make a pain if not aligned properly. Also we find it is difficult at times to install the deck on loose or soft surfaces. Sometimes we suggest the customer to get some rubber mats to help prevent the deck sliding and settling in the ground.

Tim, thanks for this comparison series. I'm a new owner of a 1025r. Purchased it with bucket, backhoe and mower. Also, sprung for a Westendorf Brush Crusher. I have about 12 semi-wooded acres here in Floyd, Virginia which I mow about five. Before deciding on the Deere I spent many month's researching and it came down to the Kabota and Deere. I'll still primarily mow with my 60 inch Ferris Zero turn and 54 inch Simplicity Prestige, I learned long ago that it never hurts to have a spare mower. The two factors that settled the choice to the 1025r was proximity of dealer location and attachment install and removal process. Thanks for your great videos and fair and detailed reviews.

I think these follow-up videos are a great idea. This series really helps us viewers to understand the differences in these tractors. The John Deere drive over deck and auto connect PTO is the high water mark mower decks for these sub compact tractors. I would be sorely tempted to use a rear mount mower if I did not have they John Deere auto connect PTO deck.

I go around helping small farm or ranch owners out with their tractor every now and then. They often need help changing attachments or learning how to do maintenance on their machines. At one place the lady had a Kubota tractor. It was a little older and a little bigger than the bx in the video. My dad and I were told to take the belly mower off and put the brush hog on, then mow the back field down. Taking the deck off was pretty easy. All we had to do was pull the pins out of the back, drop down a front support by pulling a latch, and disconnect the pto. All of that was very simple and only took a minute or two. After that we just put the tractor in 4 wheel drive and drove it over the deck like you did but without block. I thought it was pretty similar to the bx and personally I don’t see it as that big of a deal. You did a great job demonstrating the deck in the video. Keep up the good work!

These have definitely been the best comparison videos ever done. When I was buying my 1025r with the 54d. My salesman explained all the auto connect options. He said the auto connect pto can be troublesome if something gets out of wack. I ended up getting the standard manual pto connection as I’m still young. I can be a little tricky to get hooked back up. But it you pull on the deck belt a little you can get the splines to line up.

You give your best un-bias review and then you listen to what people have to say in the comments and give a follow up.. you can’t POSSIBLY be anymore fair than your being.. your absolutely right, a color tractor doesn’t make you bias what makes you bias or un-bias is your personal character.. Tim, so far these have been some of the best comparison videos between the Kubota and the Deere. I’m on the market for one of these machines and I feel confident that you’re providing some really honest information. I watch Neil and Jon as well, but so far you have the most in-depth coverage of BOTH machines. Keep it up! One thing I’d like to see is a comparison of the loaders, specifically the smoothness of the valves and ability to do multiple functions simultaneously.

Great video Tim. About the only time I change my BX 2660 mower deck is when I'm transitioning from summer to winter or vise versa so I put my front end loader on & use it to raise the front end of the tractor off the ground & the deck can easily be pulled out or pushed in without any scrapes on the frame. I use my FEL all winter because I have a rear mounted Buhler 50 inch snow blower with 4 hydraulic hose connectors to turn the shoot & change the angle of the deflector. I found out today when I looked at a 1025 that JD can only do 2 hose connection in the back & it is very expensive because you have to remove the cab to install the extra hydraulics. Jumpin Joe

Thanks for these videos Tim. JD definitely has a great auto connect deck. A few years ago I was looking at getting a subcompact tractor. I looked at all the color tractors I could find. One of the same conversations I got from the Kubota dealers was “you really don’t want the drive over deck.” The way you took the deck off in your video was the same way we used to take the deck off my grandfathers 1968 Bolens 1250 garden tractor. That tractor is still being used, but has been retired from lawn cutting duties. Have a great weekend.

Tim, if I can offer a piece of advice, look at the ratio of complimentary comments to those that criticize. I know it’s difficult when you’re on the receiving end, but I think you have such an overwhelming number of people who praise this series that you can safely ignore the few that are blatantly derogatory. I appreciate the amount of work you and your wife are doing to provide this service to others. You are setting a standard that future reviewers will need to meet if they are to have credibility.

Hi Tim, the videos are great! Just a little issue I find on RU-vid: If you could number all of your video, I could find my place when I have been away for a while. I am an investor/mentor in my son in law's trucking business. We only haul over/dimensional, over /weight loads and started with one driver about 15 months ago - now we have eight. These videos of yours are VERY useful to me. My son (he is more a son than a son in law) has 19 acres, a small ranch and a nice 20 x 40 pole barn for working on equipment. I want to lease some of the abutting land (40 acres) to put some cows on. So I look at all of this "stuff" for educational purposes. You, sir, are a very good teacher and I thank you for what you do. May God bless you and your family.

I haven't witnessed any bias or intentionally misleading statements. Your followup videos are simply great and go to your desire to present the comparisons honestly and with integrity. Tim, I want to make a couple more comments to you and to your viewers. These videos are a real benefit to anyone who is in the market for a tractor. Here is my story, about ten years ago I bought my first house and I needed a riding mower (I had about an acre and half) I bought a cheap used Cub Cadet (not the old Real Cub Cadets of years gone by) I had one problem after another so I figured it was time to get a real mower. So I compared JD and Kubota as you might expect. I was impressed with both, it was neck and neck but I ended up going with the Deere X300 because there is a local Deere dealer, the closest Orange dealer was a good ways away. I LOVED the X300 but I got cheap and got it with the 48inch deck. After three years I upgraded to the X320 on a whim but again made the mistake of getting the 48inch deck. Two years ago I upgraded to the X380 with the 54 inch deck and I LOVE it. Now since then a Kubota dealer has come to town. I no longer consider them because I have such a great relationship with my Deere dealer. HOWEVER, if I can convince my wife a tractor is in my future and because it will be such a big purchase I will once again consider the Kubota. Your videos are blessing to anyone in the market. I have not been able to find anyone who does the great job you do and actually applying REAL WORLD use in the reviews. I also really appreciate that you are not afraid to insert your faith at time when this world has become so politically correct. I look forward to seeing your valuable input for years to come. God bless you and your family by brother in Christ!

During these videos I have learned somethings about my tractor as you have pointed them out with the other tractors. First thing I found out my tractor thru this series is the "S" on my deck gauge holds my deck up when is traveling. Before if I traveled long distance, I would turn my pressure valve closed. My belly deck is similar to the Kubota deck and it is challenging, but manageable.

Put a Bush-Hog bucket on it and it opened up a whole new world. Before that I had a shovel and a pig pole for the back. That stinger video at the end had me clinched! I hate cutting the ditch at my house. I have a BX23S that you actually inspired me to buy. I love watching your work with Jonny and you always amazed me how productive you could make a sub-compact be. You fairly said in an episode a few years ago that dealer support was very important when buying a tractor. That’s, honestly, why I bought the Kubota. I was inspired by your videos to buy a subcompact TLB but, unfortunately, our local green dealer has a poor reputation. My choice boiled down to that. I do find the slightly smaller size of the BX to be helpful for my application. Another lesson I learned from you! I love my BX even if my mower deck in pain in the tail to get on and off!

Around 2 years ago we purchased this farm including the small Massey GC2300. Never driven a tractor before, the mower deck was a pain. Then saw an add for JD drive over, and went with that. Never cause an issue with the old monster of a deck, and with minimal concrete pulling it out required a 2nd tractor almost.

Tim, dont worry about the judgmental negative comments, you are awesome. Based on what I have seen there is NO reason to question your character. I fully understand how people will take things much to personal and try and project that on you. I am used car dealer specializing in late model trucks. (2014 to current model years) While I do sell the occasional Nissan and Toyota the vast majority of my business are the big three (GM, Ford and Ram) Each make has their fans and yes "fan" can be short for fanatic. However, I can honestly there are things I love and not really love about each. I also have my personal favorite, however I have to keep that to myself most of the time because of the brand loyalty of these makes. I think your reviews are by far the best available. I think you are more sincere and straight forward that 99% of the folks I have seen do online reviews. Keep up the Good Works and don't let the negative Nelly's get you down brother!!

Many thanks for your time, effort and objectivity in comparing and contrasting these two worthwhile machines. I own a Kubota BX 2200 almost 20 years old and, while it still performs admirably, it's getting a bit long in the tooth. A trip last week to a Bobcat dealer for an unrelated matter found me salivating over that company's resumed line of compact and subcompact tractors. Would appreciate any thoughts or chatter you may have heard about these machines. Otherwise, many thanks again for your work, which surely takes time. As well, I suggest ignoring snarky comments about subjectivity. If the snarks take issue with your findings, they can present evidence to the contrary or conduct their own compare/contrast research and reportage.

Thanks for kind words. Bobcat tractors are identical to Kioti tractors. If you like them, I would suggest looking at Kioti.

I was thinking about getting a new Yanmar but after watching your comparison I’m starting to lean towards the Kubota for its size. Still researching the two. I would go with JD but to long of a drive to the nearest dealer. God bless you and your family.

Like your videos Tim, cannot believe what you do with that tractor. Like Neil’s videos, he has explained so much for a first time tractor owner. I subscribe to both of you. I just bought a Kubota, felt the dealer gave me the best deal. I looked at most of the brands, they all have good and bad, just like the Chevy Ford Dodge debate. If you take care of any of them they will last forever.

Great video as always! Typical Neil, always putting Deere down when clearly it has the upper advantage on this particular implement (as you see by all the owners comments). Not trying to be bitter, but sometimes it’s best to cut your losses and agree. Heck, there are things I love about Kubota, and if I had a dealer close by I’d probably own one today.

Ok, I just recently bought a kubota bx with a 60in mmm drive over deck and I have to say I think I would much rather have the 60in regular mmm because the drive over scalps the lawn more because the regular has independent springs it hangs from and the drive over eliminates them and as a result scalps more. Tim I for one think your videos are fair and honest !!

Tim first off I own a BX2370, but like you I feel it is a good Idea to give people information and let them do with it what they want. You and your wife have been very informative fair in judgements but not one sided. I love my Kubota but in turn tried to talk my nieghbor into a John Deer for reason that fit his particular case and need. Needless to say his son talked him into a Bseries Kubota it is a beaughtiful unit but does not work for him, (unfortunate). But you can only lead the horse to water. Thank you for all the time and I know money you spend to make these videos they are very helpful. Gerry

Tim, I just came across your videos and thought I would add my 2 cents on the Kabota drive over deck. I don't know about availability, but my dealer (mid Michigan area) never had anything bad to say about the drive over deck for my BX2380. I've been using it for over two years and I like the drive over deck. I agree the ramps are a little annoying, but they work and I've had no issues with the mower or deck. I like your Deer vs Kabota series and have to say I think you have been more than fair with your analysis. Keep up the good work.

I own 2 Kubota tractors and I must say you are doing a fine job of comparing the two models you have . One thing that may be important to many of us would be the cost difference between the mower decks , drive over JD and non drive over Kubota . If one can save a certain amount of money it may make it worth while to put up without a drive over unit .

Hi Tim I can only comment on my particular Tractor I have a 2004 Kabota B 7510 which is a 23 hp tractor with a 54 inch RCK 54B Mower deck I bought it new and have mode very tall brush with it as well as regular mowing on my 2 1/2 acres the double the belt is still the original I have never smoked it however I have stalled the tractor when mowing very tall brushThis is just FYI thank you I enjoy your videos keep up the good work

I love these videos. To me it doesn't seem like your comparing them to tell us one is better than the other. Your showing the 2 more popular tractors and all their features and specs, and what you have to do for disconnecting and attaching attachments to the tractors. They all have their pros and cons. I've never owned a tractor like this till 3 yrs ago. I looked over all the different brands and I personally those the jd 1025r because I liked what they had to offer!

I also ignored my dealers strenuous objections to the drive over deck, purchased a 60 inch, works great. Everyone who thinks this is problematic should watch the video by Aaron Twitty. Love the videos you and your family make even though your tractor is not what I own. Keep up the good work. Regards, Dan Fechter

If people are inflamed by your videos they should take some ibuprofen! Thanks for sharing as always. I always enjoy your videos and I learn something every single time. It is fun to be learning things specific to my own tractor (BX23S) for a little while.

BINGO!! Poppa Bear, Momma Bear and Baby bear holes! My NEW BX 1880 Hits bottom with lower hole and is not low enough with the Upper hole. Yes I did put the mower in the TOP position! Great work again Tim. FYI I take my spindle guards off when mowing. they fill so bad with grass that I can smell my belt burning from time to time. Great comments from Jon and Neil and all the others. Keep up the honest work. I hope Kubota is listening! When I move up there's an excellent chance it's the JD 1025R and not the BX 23s!!!

I'm about to buy a new tractor: I'm not shure of which one I'll choose, but there are a lot of things to watch. I have littles corners on my property that are really narrow. I already own a JD D140 that has a 48'' deck and I can barely go through that space. I'm shure that I won't be able to go there with a bigger deck. The smallest one with the Jonh Derre is 54 PLUS the black part. So, it's not such a big deal, I could get my Honda landmower to finish the job but... It add more work to complete the job... It's not alway easy to take the decision... So... lets continu to watch the other vidéos. Thanks for your EXCELLENTS VIDEOS Tim!
