DefPoetry made me feel things as a teenager, it taught me the power of words in a message. Songs did too but the variety and depth of what could be said on that stage, with their voices alone, brought me to write for myself. I learned from beautiful wordsmith story tellers like Rives. Thank you.
My weird mind wanders and my brave heart breaks. I've nailed some milestones, but I make mistakes, cause I got more faults than a map of California earthquakes. I am taking a nap beneath your covers. this is the very 1st piece i heard from rives (when this episode aired), and by the end of this poem i'd fallen very deeply in like/lust with this man ;-)...my goodness, his way with words is hypnotizing.
