2016 579 Pete, mx13 my def gauge light turned on permanently, the dash reads bad quality def, replace. I use blue def. I changed the def quality sensor. I still have the same problem. The wrench light is on, not the other check engine light. Can you please advice. Thank you.
Recommend getting software connected to the truck to read codes and diag accordingly. Without codes there's no way of knowing and it is all guess work.
@@antonioorozco4896 thank you for answering, I continue to drive it. But I get no codes. Just that reading about poor quality def and the def light on, not blinking, just on.
Update on my 2016 579 pete. The def gauge light popped on and my dash read bad def quality , I changed the sensor and the problem continued, no check engine light, no codes to follow, well today after driving for hours, I heard a ding in my dash, wouldn't you know it, all back to normal!!!😂 so I guess it was the def quality sensor after all. Hope this helps someone. Thank you.
Had a truck throw a “DEF Quality Bad” code come up on the dash. Changed the level sensor and did a regen. The regen ran about 45 minutes and all the lights bells and warnings went away. Not sure if this will help anyone but just sharing my experience. Stay safe out there.
I have a friend that needs the Q21-6167-001K1T DEF Sensor part. As you guys said below, no one has it. He's a 1-truck operation, and until PACCAR (or is it KW?) comes out with the software update or gets stock of this part, he's having to contract support for deliveries. These guys need to either release that firmware or tell us how to wire in some resistors or some way to let the truck know it isn't out of DEF. This could absolutely sink/bankrupt small businesses. Right with you on the Way, the Truth, and the Life! Thanks for sharing that encouragement.
My volvo truck has been detecting bad def quality, it has me re-gen every other day. I have taken it to a mechanic and nothing can be found. Do you think it could be the def quality sensor?
Work for Werner. We have like 8-9 trucks waiting on these at my shop. Got em on back order. Mostly KWs but also internationals & one Paccar. Gonna be an interest
I work for a pete dealer. These def combo sensors are the biggest train wreck of the truck industry. It also is going on a the worst possible time with Covid and shortages. The most annoying this is the factory blaming it on the heater control valve which is stupid. The issue is the sensor. Luckily paccar and cummins are going to release a update to keep the unit from going into derate if the sensor fails. This will only be temporary. Once the supply or issue is fixed the software will have to be rolled back.
What’s up brother, I been having an issue with my DEF system as well. I got the DEF doser replaced, the DEF pump replaced, and also a DEF line replaced. When I drive approximately 40 miles I get a increase derate warning and the DEF light comes on. I have a Cummins engine ISX15. Do you have any idea what is causing this?
I get kenworth t680 2019 from kenworth Omaha, after 5000 miles def level sensor fail. I went to kenworth dealer for warranty and they told me only cummins parts have warranty not paccar. Truck is only 450k miles now i have to wait 3 months for def sensor.
HEY Antonio sorry that happened to you,,, but here is a quick tip going forward only use ( DEF fluid from the jug ) YOU CAN purchase it from Kenworth PETERBILT or the truck stop yeah I know that it is really expensive but it will save you money and time from going to Kenworth and paying thousands for unnecessary repairs.trust me ( DEF FLUID FROM THE JUG ONLY )never ever use the DEF AT THE TRUCK STOP FUEL ISLAND .take care
@@antonioorozco4896 it is a 2017 pete 579 with sleeper, showing fault code 4277. confused what the difference is between the round head with the lines and the little square one (pn is Q21-6170-003k1t)
@@andresenriquez8107 so, if I'm understanding correctly the round one with the lines is the DEF level sensor, it comes on the older models (2016 a below, I believe) the square one is the DEF quality/level sensor those are the ones a lot of trucks are having issues with. You pretty mich have to remove the tank to R&R.
@@antonioorozco4896 i just replaced the quality sensor, no sensor code anymore but still showing same codes 3712 (stop engine) and 3714 (torque de rate). what is the correct procedure after replacing the sensor so the truck can clear those codes? A regen was done with insite and passed/completed but nothing cleared.
Dealers are saying 6-8 weeks for this part. Does anyone know if it's possible to bypass the broken sensor and trick the computer? Is it just a static voltage level that this sends out?
@@f.fernandez6960 Well luckily, the EPA granted a bypass on it through the computer some time ago. Because of the part shortage, things like this were about to cause an economic crisis.
@@antonioorozco4896 I may be having the same issue...Going to dealer in the morning..GOT SCR ENGINE FAULT AND DERATE stop engine immediately light..Also flashing red def light..if this turns out to be a def quality sensor on my 2014 t680 paccar..how long of a wait is it normally these days for one..??
@@darrolong1175 DEF quality sensors started coming out in 2016, if I remember correctly. Your 2014 wouldn't have a quality sensor, only DEF level sensor.
@@antonioorozco4896 Thank you.I just found that out myself after talking to parts dept..at dealer...He said that may be good news cause they have the leveling sensor..not sure til they diagnose tommorrow but my truck has all the same lights and warnings as your video above..stop engine immediately..SCR REPAIR.And flashing red def light
@@moonrunnerlife1640 what year model? It sounds like they're using a generic scanner like JPro. Paccar software gives you different trouble codes usually starts with a P or U.
@@antonioorozco4896 it's a 2016. And those are the jpro codes I have. Regardless the codes they pulled at last 3 MHC with davies did not fix. The light only comes on after I let the truck sit for at least 3 days. It will not use any def. Then def will start working again when I unplugged dozer and reset ecm with key clicks.. It is using a full tank of def to a fuel up. Light always comes on around the same level just over half tank. Drop your email ill send you all these things they did that didn't fix it.
