A song from The Yellow River Cantata, honouring the 8th route army of the Chinese united resistance. My channel is dedicated to anthems, hymns and patriotic songs, here is the link to our discord server: / discord
Well then: 1) Take up arms made here and abroad 2) Wield broadswords and spears 3) Defend the Homeland 4) Defend the Yellow River 5) Defend the North China Plain 6) Defend all of China!
Wait, isn't the song praising the communist actions in the war against Japan? The KMT flooded the yellow river, not the CCP so this song wouldn't be ironic since Chiang ordered it not Mao
Chinese (mainlander) here, this song was written by Xian Xinghai(冼星海), who had the experience of learning music in France. This song is part of his work Yellow River Cantata(黄河大合唱), the second sino-japanese war was a landmark for modem Chinese state and nationalism. Although the flag here belonged to ROC, the author was in favour of CPC, he died in Moscow, USSR, 1945, due to the Tuberculosis. This song was banned in Taiwan during the dictatorship of Chang Kaishek(or Martial law period,1949-1987)after the KMT, or the Nationalist Party of China fled to Taiwan with its régime and army, because of its ideological sensitivity and the ideology of the author.
@Stickyberty unfortunately he lived a quiet life in Kaohsiung until his death a couple of years ago. But I am sure he found happiness with the family he started and in his post-war work (he was a chef and a sailor at one point, among other work). In Taiwan, Civil War veterans are rarely talked about nowadays. But he was a brave man for sure. Thanks for the kind words
@@JH-uk3ze that was Japan, the Chinese United Front was formed between them as the USSR made the communists work with the KMT, so the Communists weren’t fighting anyone they were just letting the KMT suffer so they could beat them easily
this song is made by communist by the way, who lead the resistance in japanese occupied area. So this is the song of chinese people more than a song of army.
Pretty impressive how the Chinese managed to continue and resist the Japanese despite losing most of their industrial and population heartland to the Japanese
I am chinese. The reason why my ancestors won the war was due to western power like UK/US lend leasing equipment to us at that time. Also the US was having a pacific war with Japan. If it is not for them we will have no chance of winning.
Thanks to a herculean supply effort by the United States over the Himalayas from India and Burma. The Chinese were constantly needing more ammo and supplies, Chiang's Nationalist army for all their courage and toughness was woefully underequipped and further back in tech compared to the Imperial Japanese military (the Chinese Air Force at the start of the war in 1937 was mostly biplanes from footage I've seen).
AME LAS IMÁGENES Como al inicio de la canción aparece una china derrotada perdiendo el territorio solo para que al final aparezca la china victoriosa con su territorio recuperado
Actually *inside green cloth tents* refers to the green crops in the field, such as sorghum and corn, which grow very tall and can be used as a barrier
This song belongs to "“Chorus of the Yellow River ”suite,Chinese named this suite "黄河大合唱",黄河 means the yellow river. It was written by Chinese communist during Second Sino-Japanese War.
@@alamba1165 No indus and Ganga river are having even larger , fertile basins and are much more wider than Yellow or Yangtze although they are shorter ...🇮🇳🕉️
I'm loving the detail in the lyrics. They actually made the periods dots that aren't colored in, which resemble how Chinese people write their periods.
LYRICS The wind roars, The Horse neighs, The Yellow River is Raging! The Yellow River is Raging! In the West the mountains loom, in the East and North of Sorghum grows, In the mountains lie Anti-Japanese heros! inside green cloth tents lie gallant guerilla warriors. Taking up arms made here and abroad, wielding broadswords and spears, defend the homeland, defend the Yellow river, defend the North China Plain, Defend all of China! (Repeats 3x)
I’m pretty sure every mainlander still considers the unified defense of China as apart of their heritage. At this point in time the CCP helped form the Second United Front against Japan after Chiang got kidnapped, and so we both fought like brothers and sisters against the Japanese, this isn’t just the KMT’s fight (the KMT was satisfied with giving Japan more Chinese territory to conquer and torture).
This song has nothing to do with the nowadays ROC gov in taiwan, in fact, kmt banned this song, cus the author is a communist. U can't hear this song until 90s if u living in Taiwan.
@@KaiserTwo Chaing ignored Japan for a few years cos he knew if china wants to fight Japan effectively they have to unify the country,he knew that if the Nazis lost in Europe the Japanese can’t win the war.But the communists, trying to save their skins kidnapped Chiang. And while the KMD forces fought the enemy,Mao instead pretended to fight while spreading the of communism to university students who would go on to spread the word to peasants. That’s why china fell so quickly. But you can really see who has the ‘moral high ground’ here.
@@user-wv2rp6ls7k A huge and cruel enemy battling what's left of a country that's trying to resist its imperial ambitions. I think it has many things to do with Ukraine.
Whether it is the Communist Party or the Kuomintang, I personally think that as long as the party that can make the country prosperous and the people healthy is in power, it will be fine.
Wow, now this is one of my favorite patriotic songs, if not my favorite, I didn't expect this to have so much feeling. Love Republic of China 🇹🇼❤🇳🇮 from Nicaragua.
It's not too strange to understand, we both have historical memories of being invaded by cruel axis powers. The spirit of resistance to invaders is something we all share.
i just went to someones booth and the booth said "picking your theme song based on your avatar" and my avatar is a noob and they picked this one for me. this a banger tho
The territory of the great Republic of China lacks a piece of Tibet and Mongolia. Mongolia has been under our control since the Han and Tang dynasties, and has been an inherent territory of China since ancient times.
