While it's not my personal least favorite from the series, a lot of people really hate "High Steaks" from Tom and Jerry. Personally, while I perfectly understand why that short is so widely disliked, I don't think it's the worst Tom and Jerry cartoon (personally, I dislike "Calypso Cat" more). Maybe if I ever try making cartoon reviews myself, I'll give that short a more in-depth review to give my perspective on it.

I agree, but I’m always surprised when I see her on examples of how the early 2000s was sexist. @@Colby2D There's good feminism and there's bad feminism, that's how I always interpreted it as a kid. Calling out extremism, double standards, and such is fine, as long as you don't go overboard, or become everything you hate. I do actually see fake-feminists online that make feminism look bad by being openly biased against men, which isn't what feminism is originally about. This is unfortunately why feminism gets a bad rap nowadays. The writer of the ep Lauren Faust stated she regrets that episode, because she thinks it's too complicated a subject for kids. I don't think double standards and extremism is something kids can't understand as some kids have experienced it.

@@charliecoccia8875 Town and Out is actually one of my favorite episodes. I like how they realistically poked fun at superhero stuff. As for Moral Decay... come on, it's a fun episode with a good morale. I mean, when it's the protagonist that makes horrible mistakes and then amends for it, it's way more impactful for a young watcher. When kids see a villain doing bad things they approach it with "Well, they're a villain, it's what they do". But when a hero does something bad, and then admits for their wrongs... it educates kids that even if they think themselves as nice kids, they still can do something bad out of addiction (Buttercup's "Moral Decay") or for noble reasons (episode where Blossom stole golf clubs), and teaches them to admit their mistakes. Also let's not forget that PPG writers mostly were Gen X-ers, and they're much more crass and sarcastic with their approach to humor and writing.

One thing I've always liked about Arnold betrays Iggy is that they don't have Arnold forgive Iggy at the end. Even though you could understand where Iggy's resentment was coming from, the episode makes it clear that he is in the wrong for treating Arnold poorly even when its clear that Arnold is genuinely sorry, he was the one who went too far by having Arnold wear the costume, and even though we see that he immediately regrets it, the damage is done. I like that the episode by the end has Arnold unable to forgive Iggy and the episode does a good job showing why

Speaking of hated cartoon episodes, there’s this one episode in the Jimmy Neutron fandom that’s hated called “Carl Wheezer, Boy Genius”. The entire episode was about how Carl was lying about being a scientific genius, like Jimmy was to impress his famous pen pal girlfriend, Elke. Carl begs Jimmy to pretend to be his lab assistant (which he didn’t want to do) and Sheen being the failed experiment (which he was fine with). Throughout the episode, Carl tries to impress Elke by using one of Jimmy’s inventions, but causes a disaster each time since he didn’t know how to use any of Jimmy’s inventions. Its infamy stems from Carl’s mistreatment of Jimmy despite his own wrongdoing and the fact that he still gets the girl in the end (when she admits she was lying about being famous). I’d likely have a similar opinion on this episode if I had just seen this one episode, but since I’ve seen all of Jimmy Neutron, I don’t. It’s just an okay episode, not standing out from the rest of the show’s banger lineup. I find it funny the fandom criticizes Carl for mistreating Jimmy in this episode because a simple counterpoint can be made to it. In previous episodes, Jimmy had no qualms about using him as a guinea pig and dragging him into unwanted situations. In a nutshell, I had no issue with this episode, and it really showed us how Carl feels about being treated like a guinea pig.

The big problem with Arnold Betrays Iggy is that they set up Iggy as if we should've known him as the cool kid but he'd only had 4 speaking lines in the series up to that point and those were all in a crowd. Nobody ever talked about him and he didn't command "respect" like he said he worked so hard to get. He was a background character with no interactions. By that point most of the others had at least some character defining moments or even an episode about them. If Iggy and Arnold were shown to be doing things together, hanging out or being friends then the whole thing would've at least had some weight to it but as it is it's "This hereto unnamed background character is the coolest guy in school trust us."

For 'Arnold Betrays Iggy' it kinda feels like the whole POINT is for it be a frustrating episode to watch. It's a hard truth parable, one of those cases where it's telling kids there will sadly be circumstances where you just CAN'T WIN. Not everyone plays fairly and logically, especially kids. Most of them are fickle vindictive little backstabbers like in that episode. I actually give credit to that episode for keeping consistent, and didn't end up skewing the moral like 'Girl Trouble' did. Equal Fights had a decent idea, we don't get enough 'What's REAL equality?' morals, especially in terms of feminism, but it was just too ham fisted and expositional. They needed a more creative way to express it than the characters just spelling it out to us with little action.

Totally agree with both of your statements. One episode I thought about covering as well was the Recess episode where the kid hates TJ and they try to convince him to like TJ the whole time. I don't necessarily think the problem with "Equal Fights" was that it handled it's message poorly, as I do think the episode provides good commentary on not only radical feminism, but also abusing the concept of feminism as a justification for committing criminal acts. Like many of you out there, I dislike "Everyone Knows it's Bendy". The episode's logic makes no sense; Wilt, Coco, and Eduardo have all lived at Foster's for years. They know all the rules and obey them, so why would Frankie and Mr. Herriman believe someone they only just met over three longtime well-behaved imaginary friends? Plus, while Bloo may have a bit of a reputation as a troublemaker, he doesn't normally go around blaming someone he only just met for his own bad behavior. Lauren Faust deeply regrets ever having written EKiB, and she wrote Bendy off the show as a result. I think that was a wise decision, because if she hadn't, Bendy would likely have become the Megan Parker of Foster's. Megan is worse than Bendy because like him, she's a jerk and a karma houdini who gets a sick kick out of torturing the main characters, but unlike Bendy, who was a one-time character, Megan is in EVERY! I honestly agree with Arnold Betrays Iggy and Equal Fights. I took Arnold Betrays Iggy as a lesson to never try buying forgiveness because if they won’t forgive the first time, they’ll never forgive at all and that’s not on you but on them. Hey Arnold had lessons in episodes about forgiveness, so this one was an interesting approach to it. Maybe the execution wasn’t perfect, but maybe had there been a follow-up where Arnold finally forgives Iggy after he comes to terms with how ugly and bitter he acted toward Arnold, then the message would have been better delivered. Iggy would learn to not to hold in bitterness and Arnold would learn to not buy other people’s forgiveness. Equal Fights is one I feel had potential to be way ahead of its time. It’s clearly teaching the lesson about extremism and how it creates more discrimination than solve real issues. This one is a pretty easy fix. Fem Fetel doesn’t have to be a 3 dimensional character or anything. She just has to be treated as a criminal who just happens to be a female using her gender card to justify her actions. I feel the episode tried to do it, but as someone pointed out, “Lauren Faust isn’t subtle.” In this case, Fem either needs more dimension or else just be treated by the show itself that she is a ruthless criminal using her feminism to get what she wants. For instance, while robbing the bank, she clears out the bank like any other robber (no need to only getting Susan B Anthony coins) but justifies it by claiming that the bank is ran by men because most of the employees are men. She attacks the cops, because they’re all dirty rotten men that hate women. That kind of thing. However, the Power Puff Girls learn that the owner of the bank Fem Robbed is a woman and some of the cops she attacked were women. These same women would also have been in the background of the scenes where Fem attacks. In this way, Fem is still extreme, but because she keeps using the female social Justice card with cops and bankers that are mostly men before seeing the women behind them, it doesn’t make her a strawman, since she isn’t wrong to say they’re mostly men either. The beginning would show that Fem may be extreme but seems to have a point and showing the women she attacked for trying to stop her shows the conclusion of those extreme attacks and how they end up hurting the women working in those places instead of helping.

I think those are good points! With the powerpuff girls, I reel femme fatale actually hurting women in this case kinda takes away from the scenario of her crimes, because it gives us as the audience an easy out to know she’s clearly wrong. I think keeping the victims as men, keeps the episode much more relevant by preserving her initial motive. I think the episode structure wise was really good, and I like the episode, but there’s not a lot of situations I can think of where extreme feminists actually end up directly hurting women with their actions, like in this episode

The ending of the Equal Fights episode is very memorable to me. It taught me as a kid to not take anything for granted, and to just not be entitled. Which might be an odd listen to take from it, but hey, that is what I got from it. Just treat people how you want to be treated regardless of gender. The one point of the episode that bugged me though is how they couldn't think of any female super heroes aside from Wonder Woman that didn't have more counterparts. That NEVER made any sense this was around the time Teen Titans and Justise League was popular, in those shows alone we had Starfire, Raven, Zatana, Bumble Bee, the list could go on, and those where just on the same network!

@@Colby2D This episode came during the show's eighth season, a season that is infamous as it is for some of the worst portrayals of the main characters, and was also infamous for introducing a new status quo so late into the game that not much was done with it. This episode is a perfect example: taking a character whose biggest desire in life is to make people happy, whether it be showing sincere empathy, enjoying her time with them, or sometimes through innocently insensitive behavior. Here, she throws all that away once she gets her hooves on an instrument that she is so bad at, that not only does it hurt everyone else's ears, but it also causes all sorts of property damage. And said instrument has become her new purpose in life, to the point where we see her giving the thing bedroom eyes, stroking it and talking in an allured voice while doing so, and when her friends tell her that she's not good at it... She breaks down into a manic depression, complete with her moving out from her home to the civilization where she inherited the instrument from, because apparently without that instrument, "her life had no meaning." And it's only when she gets to play the instrument in front of a crowd that can appreciate it that she turns back to normal. It's that depression psr that makes me loathe it the most. Yes, some people who have depression can only feel worse from the slightest negativity towards them, but here, this is someone who we see is positive, happy go lucky and maybe even a bit insane, both in and out of public, breaking into depression over her instrument being dismissed. And this is an instrument she only just got from a culture that she only became an honorary member of over the course of three episodes that served no greater purpose than to introduce yaks into the pony world. Last time she acted like this was, of course, the first season of the show, when she started to lose her mind and have mood swings because she was led to believe that her friends wanted nothing to do with her at all, something more in line with her desires in life. And to top it all off, her depressive behavior causes her to treat sundaes like alcohol, complete with addict mood swings, alongside just refusing to cooperate with anything that doesn't satisfy her instrument obsession... And from what I know, depression cannot be solved just by being given validation. It's not that everything she does is inaccurate to how people with actual depression can act, but it's how it becomes the center of a conflict about something so petty and is resolved as unrealistically as possible, and is also based on something that goes against her entire character... THAT'S why I hate it.

The annoying thing about "Arnold betrays Iggy" was Arnold kept his word. He didn't really betray him and Iggy just held a grudge. I think the whole point was to never hold a grudge. Because once Iggy heard the truth about what happened it was too late and Arnold was justified in his anger to Iggy. Equal Fights was about as subtle as a sledgehammer to the face. If it was about equality, why didn't they say that men are needed as both men and women need each other? Everyone hates Bendy though just shows Bendy being an insufferable cunt and teaching that actions don't have consequences. Now Bloo has his moments but he still has some redeeming qualities and sure he's annoying and selfish but he always gets punished or suffers some backlash for his reckless or plain stupid behaviour. In fact Bendy was so hated, Lauren Faust apologised to fans of the show and had Bendy scrapped from ever appearing again. Sort of like Scrappy doo but the right thing was done earlier.

I was not aware Equal Fights was disliked (though considering anything involving female characters is controversial compared to males it's no surprise) but there are WAY worse PPG episodes with worse messages. Moral Decay, Cover Up, Night Mayor, Town and Out, Sweet N Sour, Daylight Savings and Fallen Arches come to mind. I also never really got the hate for the Bendy episode, like yeah, it's a bad episode. But it's just bad in a very dull way and with how its written its clear it feels cut in some areas. If you ask me Fosters has WAY more annoying or bad episodes Imposters Home For Um.. Make Em Up Pals is an infamous one, it's basically just the Bendy episode done worse in every way with one joke repeated constantly and how Frankie is treated borders on abusive. At least Frankie and Herriman work together there, compared to episodes after where he comes off as an abusive hypocrite. Other bad Fosters episodes would include Duchess of Wails, I Only Have Surprise For You, Jackie Khones and the Case of Library Crook, Fosters Goes to Europe, Ticket to Rod, The Big Cheese, Setting a President, Let Your Hare Down, Nightmare on Wilson Way. I also find other episodes from shows to be annoying people don't talk about such as Send in the Clones from Jimmy Neutron (or other bad episodes from that show like The Incredible Shrinking Town, The Science Fair Affair, Love Potion 976/J, Lights Camera Danger) Or other CN shows too! When it comes to Hey Arnold, I personally think Curly's Girl, Girl Trouble and Bag of Money are worse.

Make ‘Em Up Pals is a great example because Lauren Faust talks about wanting to exaggerate the impostor more but got network pushback, which I think is such a good example of the difficulties and balance with production. I’ve always really liked and respected ‘equal fights” for delivering a unique if somewhat confusing message. I mean obviously the vast major of problems that women encounter are caused by men or at least the male dominated society that so many cultures have set up as the norm. also, yeah 99% of feminists are about equality and would never do what “fem fatal” would do. ill even give that it seems like she the misconception that non feminists have about feminists. However, I’ve have seen a LOT of annoying “girl power” episodes for shows and while I don’t think any of them would count as the worst episodes from them… they were a about a dime a dozen. One of the girls wants to do something but can’t cause she’s a girl the boys in the episode are sexist idot and need to learn that girls are equal wash rinse and repeat. I just really liked that the show pointed how that “fem fatal” was wrong and that there is no justification for it. please take this with a grain of salt as it only my opinion and well I’m a guy so I don’t understand how a women would feel about this subject
