Tip for fotwards a lot of the time u can see the feflection off the glass in the corner so u can tell where people are and when there coming

Hey coach Jeremy, can you direct me to some videos where I can show our defenceman how to safely get that puck when you have the forward tracking your numbers into the corner. .... you know the scenario when the defenceman gets crushed from behind because he skates directly into the boards.

Hi Jeremy, I have a problem keeping the puck in the offensive zone on the boards. I try using my skate, my stick and for the life of me, I either am off on my timing the puck goes by or it deflects off of me and goes out of the zone. As a defenseman, I feel like a major failure, especially when my team is depending on me to keep the play going. What can I do to work on this ? Is it an eye/hand coordination thing ?

jackofbalarat22 I know Im super late and you probably already figured this out, but if you have equipment on just put your whole body against the boards. Out in the middle of the blue line is harder but if one guy gets a break and your other defense is back you can challenge him just be ready to skate back quickly.

When u say body to body it looks like u check him. I'm not in checking yet so I'm wondering if I can still follow these steps and not get a plenty?

TheHockeymonkey26 In most cases you will be fine. This is the same principle you will use in contact hockey. If you play non-contact you can do the same thing, but don't lay full body on the player, just angle them into the boards.

Hi coach. I am currently playing in a "high energy" pick up league. These are great tips. We are not allowed to body check. Can you please do a video that gives pointers to playing effective defense without being able to body check? I'm 55 and most of the guys are my age or late 40s. We play really well but nobody wants to get hurt. We play to have fun and go for beers after the game. I and I'm sure there are lots of men that would appreciate any advice you could give to us. thanks

Uppercornerhockey Same principles, just less aggressive on the body. Angle and pinch, and in most leagues you can still rub the guy off along the boards.

Tried it last night... it created a great out let pass stretch pass to a goal... great stuff man... i've been a right winger all of my hockey playing days now moved to right Defense... the guys told me "with my slap shot you have to play d" oh well i guess... still fun stuff and learning a whole new way to play the game thanks man! --- Brent

sick of getting burned... i through a hip check last night... good thing the kid was young and tried to get around me by basically trying to go through me... I wasn't having any of that... he avoided me the rest of the game... no one was injured and wasn't thought out... just all a reaction

You should review the Buttendz hockey grip. It seems like a good product and they are a small company that is growing. Also, a couple of pros seem to like them and use them.

If you glide towards a guy and he gets by you without a problem then hockey isn't for you. 0:41 you can attack him just don't glide into him, lead with the stick and angle him so that you start to drive him up the boards toward the blue line
