This video is 8 years old and I'm just now seeing this..... but dude, I am highly impressed with the job you did on the headers! I've worked with a lot of copper over my years of doing heating, AC & plumbing for a living, and I have to say that's probably the most realistic looking "fake" job I've ever seen on copper.
@rayray3866
@rayray3866 3 года назад
Thank you! Except it’s not copper haha! I used solder, then painted them to appear ‘heat stained’ so your comment makes me feel even better haha thanks for checking out my motor!
@mrfixitusa6165
@mrfixitusa6165 3 года назад
@@rayray3866 oh wow! I thought you meant you used "soldering wire" to put copper parts together, like "soldering wire instead of glue". I figured you had been simply distressing the copper to simulate the "overheated chrome" look. I see now you mean it's actually made from soldering wire to simulate chrome and then you painted it to simulate over heated chrome. Okay that makes it even more impressive because I've seen very few people who can that convincingly achieve that type of look with just paint.
@madcowrebel4216
@madcowrebel4216 8 лет назад
You went a bit overboard with the heat staining but for SCRATCH BUILT HEADERS! ( I mean, man that is commitment) you could have painted it PINK and I would overlook it. Also, if anyone wants to get a blue shine on raw metal mini bolts, just use machining marking fluid. Cheers

Amazing work of art that motor is to pretty to put in any model it deserves to be on its own little custom engine stand and case. Hey new challenge do a highly detailed 2022 fuel injected nascar engine with sensors wiring harness all the plumbing and fuel lines

How much for the Motor? That was really good man. I seen the video of the guy who couldn't buy a Ferrari built one a very small one. But it ran and sounded and looked just like a Ferrari. I think it took him Ten years to do that car.

Nice Job, Coukd you please tell me what material is which is looks like silver textured wires on the engine?. Thank you Norbert
@rayray3866
@rayray3866 4 года назад
Thanks for watching! So I’m not sure exactly which silver lines you’re talking about. I have silver braided ‘oil lines’ going from the valve covers. If you’re talking about the silver I have wrapped around the starter and alternator wires it’s actually foil from the inside of a pack of cigarettes. I was at work one day and noticed it when my boss opened his pack of smokes. I immediately thought it looked like a heat protectant for wires so I went for it! Hope that helps

This comment just gave me an idea... I need to make a photo booth for the models and other small objects I build, and I think I'll build mine using "Musou black" which is "the world's blackest black paint". Since it has 99.4% light absorption, there would be zero reflections and it would look like an endless expanse of black nothingness behind the photos. I imagine a lot to be done with that.
