Your analogy of cutting one finger into two does not hold water. Anioma state as sixth state for the SE is a cheat to all Igbos, including Anioma Igbos. The SE deserves a sixth state cut from Imo and Anambra States or from Imo.

I am from igbanke, we speak Ika-Igbo language. We were unjustly carved into Edo State by the then governor or Bendel state because his mother was from my Igbanke and the father from Benin. In Edo State we have no say and they don't see us as part of them. Biko, Imagine my local govt is called "Orhionmwon" Benin language which I don't understand a thing. And I am tired of explaining to people that I speak Igbo language and yet I am from Edo State, it sounds silly.

I’m from Anambra state and Aguata local government areas. I’m fully in support to create Anioma state, my ancestors will be happy to rejoin my half brothers and sister whom have been long ago separated from us from the federal government marginalisation, we are Igbo and we are one. @OwethuDlulani-ll9xu the Ika and Ikwerre people are the ancestors of the Igbos. It is on record that present day Anambra people are migrants from the Anioma area, particularly, Isele Uku area of the region. Igbos need to be humble and respect the Ika people. Also, maybe Igbos can start thinking of changing the tribe name or choosing to use the name of the original tribes which are Ika or Ikwerre.

Anioma Reps added to Reps from a sixth state created from the southeast add to political representation of the Igbos in Abuja central government. Burt Anioma as 6th state in the southeast actually reduces political representation of Igbos in Abuja central govt.

The East has access to the sea. The problem is the politics. Igboland was balkanized by Northern military rulers with the sole purpose of reducing us. There are a lot of Igbo communities on the edge of the sea that were carved into Rivers State

That is my position my brother, you dey see far. During election many of them will they're igbos, after we have fought for additional state to south east, they are now coming to grab it . If this is going to happen, there should be historical correction by telling their children the truth that they are igbos because the children of anioma people have told that they are not igbos just like other regions having igbo speaking people have also been told that they are but only come out to claim, they are igbos when something is be given to igbos.

Iam from Enugu. Immediately I saw this bill ,I was excited. Anioma is our people that was separated from southeast due to politics from past Nigerian govt. This imbalance would have been corrected if our earlier senators have been a true voice to the people just like we are clamouring for electronic voting to get the best leaders, restructuring to make every sector manage their resources, etc

But Anioma as 6th state in the SE actually diminishes political representation of Igbos in Abuja central government.

How could any thinking person, like a senator, not see that new Reps from a 6th state carved in the SE plus Reps from Anioma increase political representation of Igbos in the central government? Ned Nwoko said "they" have only 5 states in the SE. Who are the "they"? Ned Nwoko does not even identify with the SE. He said Asaba has grown. But it's like he does not want another new place in the SE to grow from state creation; because what Sen Nwoko is doing now is like antagonizing development in Orlu area through his interloping after creation of Orlu state passed first reading in the NASS.

Sen. Ned is not advocating that Anioma be a South Eastern state with the vehemence it deserves. He is mainly interested in Anioma state even it belongs to SS or SE it doesn't matter. He should be clear about where he believes it should belong to. No diplomacy about this. He should emphatically State that it should be a SE State period.
