You make it look so easy I don’t have the expensive scoring kit but I ended up returning a bunch of 1/4”x3’x6’ panels that I got for about 1/3 of the price because after trying several ways of cutting it would just snap. I felt like it would break just by looking at it

Garvage material, it brake so easily that if you need 2 slabs for the proyect, just start thinking about buying at least 3 because most likely one is going to break. Plus you can’t polish the edges, the only way to make them look good is by doing a 45 cut and glue a return on it. There is other much more resistent materials that can be polished saving a lot of labor.

Why some people install tiles on the ceiling? It just makes the shower looks smaller, it's more work, and one day that tile may fall on the person who is showering. A better idea would be to install a waterproof light. Good video overall.

Did I understand correctly you have 2 panels connection in the senter of the wall, what the point to have panels in this case. Why you have this strange cut in the senter what the point to buy panel for 1500 and did tile from this.
@TileProUSA
@TileProUSA Год назад
Hello, large format tile panels aren't a magic product that could create a seamless look in any shower. In that particular case, the point of using 2 panels on the back wall was merely because the width of that wall was more than 70 inches. In other cases, a seam is created in the center or along one of the sides of a niche because the size of a particular bathroom doesn't allow to safely maneuver a full-size panel during its installation. Such details are discussed with the customer during the bidding process.

The shower ceiling is only held up by mortar!?
@TileProUSA
@TileProUSA 2 года назад
Yes, that's correct. Only heavy slabs would require an anchor system. Those tile panels are held by the premium fiber-reinforced mortar adhered to a backer board with screws and washers fastened every 6 inches.
@ryanboucher936
@ryanboucher936 2 года назад
Did you leave the small radius on the inside corners of the niche?
@TileProUSA
@TileProUSA 2 года назад
Yes, I always leave a 3/16" radius in the niches in every corner to prevent a potential of cracking due to thermal expansion and contraction.
@ryanboucher936
@ryanboucher936 2 года назад

how did you get the shower pan tile to match the slope of the shower systems pan beneath it? is there a relief cut in the center of the panel? also how do you get that edge to be level between the pan tile and the floor tiles?

That's a single slope shower pan with the linear drain along the entrance to the shower.

Gotta ask how tricky is it cutting a niche in?
@TileProUSA
@TileProUSA 2 года назад
Yes, it's one of the most challenging parts in working with the large format tile panels since there is no right for a mistake. At same time, if done correctly and with a proper blade that's one of the safest ways of cutting a rectangular opening in a large tile panel.

@@TileProUSA "Self leveling compound" is a best waterproof barrier. No any additional sealants or tapes need it.
@TileProUSA
@TileProUSA Год назад
@Yury Badanin self-leveling compound is simply a layer of hydraulic cement with additives, and it's not waterproof at all. It will actually quickly absorb water that you spill over it. Therefore, it needs to be covered with a waterproofing membrane in wet areas, including near curbless shower floors.
@yurybadanin5035
@yurybadanin5035 Год назад
@@TileProUSA This is just a part of what I find in internet regarding self leveling compounds: Is self-leveling compound waterproof? Exceptional waterproofing properties with low permeability to water, resisting 10 bar positive and negative pressure. Also, one of them is HLM 5000 SELF LEVELING grade is a one-component, moisture-curing, bitumen-modified polyurethane elastomeric waterproofing membrane for exterior below-grade or between-slab applications. Tremco 250GC Roller : Waterproofing Membrane
@TileProUSA
@TileProUSA Год назад
@Yury Badanin yes, you just probably confused the cementitious or a gypsum-based self-leveler with a different product that is waterproof. None of the cementitious or gypsum-based self-leveling underlayments are waterproof, and most of them are limited to only interior dry areas
